- Fall trailer setup build. Showing you our ideas on how to build your own dump trailer one day. This dump trailer build - how to do it shows you some of our tips and tricks so that you can take ideas from our build and make them your own.
This huge fall trailer setup took about a month to design and build. The walls are built out of aluminum to reduce weight. The debris loader is a 37 billygoat. The trailer is a 7x14 liberty dump trailer.
The trailer can haul HUGE AMOUNTS of leaves.

This is a very nice set up. Worked great the other night. Can’t believe how much material can be put in this trailer. Thanks for the shout out. Glad Tim was able to pull this job off for you and Savanaha.
Shawn, you could also have your fabricator build a frame/ stand for that debris loader door that you could lift with your pallet jack. No need to get a forklift involved. If you take the upper door section and the outlet section off you could stash it in the corner of the garage for the spring and summer.
Thats a great idea man.
I really like this idea. Tim could whip that out no problem.
Finally, some engineering change-over craftsmanship for quick tear down when the season is done or you need to return the trailer to other duties....efficient, heavy duty, good designs (looks like trial and error experience shared here), but I love the video hitting all the key important features, topics, technical issues. Never built one, but this video has me eyeballing my surtrac 7x 12.....very well done vid!!!
This you tube channel has inspired me to start my lawn and snow removal bisnuss I am only 11 years old and my dad says I am crushing it!!!!!
I love you guys- Logan
I love the variety of information you share on your website !!
Love the DAILY videos, seeing you grow as a family, and as a lawn care business.
God bless
great job with the dump trailer build you two !! looks like it is super effective ... keep crushing it y'all
Thanks Mitchell
Massive setup. Thanks for tour.
That trailer is a beast for sure, have a great day Shawn and Tq
Thank you, on a quick lunch. break. landscape clean ups today.
Looks like you did a whole lot of planning to make that trailer suit your needs. Always enjoy your videos.
We did Joe, We study a ton of trailers and talked with a ton of people about what they liked and didn't like about their builds.
Awesome tutorial! My guys have been asking for this for years. I might just have to build one now after seeing how cool it is haha.
Awesome video! Thanks for the detail!
No problem 👍🏻
Thank you for the depth of the trailer info, great idea very affective and time savor.
I'm glad you guys got all of the work do I love you video guys great job I can wate to see the next video
Thanks bud
Spencer’s great video. I think you should go for putting your trailer setup on display for the world to see. I’m positive there’s a lot of people who would be interested in what you’ve built, & the reasoning behind it. Just think of the impact you could make, the amount of people you’d reach, the business you could bring to dealers. Maybe too much on your plate, but think hard.💯❤️👍🏾😀✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
that is a cool piece of equipment.
Hello guys! Awesome trailer for sure. Shawn you said how important grease is so don't forget to grease your ball everytime you hook up a trailer! haha But you really should, the trailer will turn better, be quiet and won't wear through the tongue of the trailer.
Nice equipment!
Thanks Albert
Really well thought out! Looking forward to seeing how it works in the different seasons.
Great video that’s a very nice dump trailer
Thanks Logan
Very Very nice trailer setup 👌 👍, chickens are getting big. Have a blessed day.
They sure are Brian
That trailer is. Definitely good it wood be awsome to have you guys thought of a lot of stuff when In the process that thing is very sturdily built by the looks of it that thing has a lot of uses and different forms! You guys are awsome love the video
For sure man. We used it today in a unique way. lol
@@SpencerLawnCare 😂
Damn nice trailer dude
I think you should do that magazine because you look awesome in it of the hard work pay off
Nice work, well thought out! Depending on terms, I would advertise it. It may help grow the channel exponentially! Would also recommend taking the flaps off from the debris loader, it will cause a hole to form on the hose over time. Also just so you know, (KTI industry's) also make's a Bluetooth wireless connection for their pumps verses just a key fob. Possibly getting one for Christmas, but it comes with the wireless remote and works off of your phone (just incase you forget the key fob, loose it or it's locked away). Just curious if you've tried to load your mowers into the trailer. I've loaded my equipment into my dump trailer, loaded the trailer and then went back with my utility trailer to pick up my equipment. It's definitely a time saver overall!
Nice man, thats sweet. No we haven’t yet. Im sure we will lol
Very cool trailer Shawn & Tq have a great afternoon
Thanks so much Jason
Great video it looks great man!!! I appreciate you!!!
Thanks Vinny
I love the Videos guys
Thanks Tyler
I would recommend replacing the eye bolt on the bottom latch chain with a cast version that is a closed loop. I’ve had those open loop style pull open when subjected a large load. I love the build and was hesitant to be critical but knowing the weight and cost of that unit I would hate for you to find that out the hard way. Been watching your channel for a while now. Keep up the good work and God bless.
thanks man, It will only be used during dumping. But we will keep and eye on it.
First and formost...Hell ya do the magazine!!!
Shawn on the roof you have it backwards make it solid at the front of the trailer because that end will fill up first and as far as the debris goes on the engine it will not cause a fire 35 years of loading leaves never can happen but just load so the wind blows it away from you because you can load and 30 feet away get debris falling down. have a nice day .
Thanks Tim, we actually had a fire the second time using it. I understand what your saying though.
Congratulations. Very proud of the thought process put into this trailer and fabrication. I was wondering why not a 16, 18 or 20' trailer and you clearly explained why, the GCVWR or 26,001lbs.
2 thumbs up on the wireless remote. Hands down one of the BEST leaf setups I've ever seen. Very well done guys. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!! #broinlawns!! #sisinlawns!!
Happy Thanksgiving & many Blessings!!
Just imagine what he will have in one year such a hard worker
Thanks Juan
I've seen little wonder debris loader for the same setup just like your setup but you did what makes you happy later team Spencer 👍😎
Awesome Robert
@@SpencerLawnCare okay thanks for your reply
Good video 😀
Thanks Tish, love you
You got a great plan. Use a semi tarp and you can find company's that builds semi tarps for grain trailers and dump trailers around you, They may have a scrap piece that would fit too.
Thanks man, thats the plan, we have a custom tarp shop near us.
Go for it, the advertisement would be all over the place!
How has been a fan for spencer lanw care for a long time
Thanks so much buddy.
Hey TQ! Shawn is out there playing with the dump trailer again!
Hahaha, I haven’t seen him all day.
Nice setup. I know you mentioned putting caution lights on the back for safety have you thought about putting a light bar on the side incase you get caught in the dark again
Hi Shawn 👍😁😁😁😁😁 looking good
Thanks Paul
@@SpencerLawnCare 🤞🤞👍👍
Thank you!!!
You show put a camera in the dump trailer one time!! It would be a cool view!
For sure Toby
I need a fab guy that is this good.
You were talking about removing some links on the chain that hold your debris loader door open. I noticed on the video you have a quick link on the opposite end of the chain from the carabiner. You can adjust there and keep the original chain length incase you ever need it.
Make the center mesh for ventilation. If the front is mesh when it gets full the air flow won't have anywhere to go. The center was mesh it will fill it up better.
Cool
Thank you
Are those Meat Birds for you guys? Nice trailer Spencer’s 💪🏾💯
Some are for meat and some are for eggs.
@@SpencerLawnCare awesome, i watch this channel Lumnah Acres good content for modern living.
Where do I get the roof bows? Awesome setup. I’ve thought about the roof bow system for years but never followed through. Great way to extend load volume without the weight.
I think you did a great job on the trailer, does it ha e an auto shut-off when the bed is max raised or lowered?
I'd like to see some more of the hydraulics setup under the bed as it's working ( with both of you not in harms way ).
Like I said in an earlier video, this beast is going to save you lots of time and money! I wonder if you can have a setup for mulch beds in the spring, remove that door/motor setup and have something else pulling the mulch out and into the beds, maybe a 6" hose. No idea what type of motor.
I think if the magazine isn't trying to stifle getting the info on the trailer out and they don't put words in your mouth than it would be a good deal for you both SLC and the magazine.
Nothing wrong with them making a little cash if they can either as long as it doesn't affect your story.
As always I know you'll make the decision you think is right and true, good luck!
Take care... ( includes Teddy and the new giblets too! )
Great job on the building of the trailer guys it's a for sure money maker an you know we all want to know how much would something like this cost.great job.
Thanks Ricardo
Hello how are you I’m good where did you get the strobe that is on top of your truck
The company was called Xbrite
@@SpencerLawnCare ok thanks
Can you do a video of your snow plow setup for the snow season
When we get there, yes we can bud
So do you have the trailer battery wired into your truck's RV charging circuit to keep the battery charged? It's very handy to have that hooked up so you don't have to put a charger on it overnight.
Not yet, we will be though.
Love the trailer bit of an after though what about a level indicator to see how much room is left in the trailer
We just look in the top when we think its even close.
Hey buddy where did you get that thing in the top of your trailer I need to buy 3 of those how do they call it the aluminum that cover by the tarp
Really enjoy watching you both , with my rental property business I’ve got a few heavy trailers including a dump, I suggest you look at EBAY , Search BullDog 4000 (lbs) Electric Power Trailer Tongue w/drop down leg , 5 yr warranty , approx $250-$300 delivered , I have approx 4 of them , love them for ease and quickness , You’ve already got the battery needed for power , if power loss it has a handle you can store in battery box to crank up/down , crank opening on top with cap , you will love be safe you two , its getting crazy with Covid getting worse , Pennsylvania is following you , Dave
Nice trailer should you go with the magazine no no and no 👏👍😷 y'all stay safe out there
Great video as always!! What was the reason you guys put the billy goat on back doors and not mounted in front of trailer? Still a beast of a debris loader. 👊🏻
Mainly access and safety, we can backup into tight spots and go. People have accidentally been ran over when in between the truck and trailer.
You guys should definitely patent it
Thanks Man
You should look at a ventrac
Great mowers I have driven them. Very nice.
I would specify that the magazine can run the feature, but they DO NOT get exclisive rights to anything. And they also need to credit you as well as anyone that hadca hand in the trailer.
Great video.
I agree with that bud.
Well you definitely put in those extra lease rakes and use as you break him
Hey guys hope all is well. Quick question how does the truck do with the dump trailer when it's full
I LIKE IT WHEN DO YOU THINK IT WILL PAY FOR ITS SELF THRU THE REVENUE IT WILL GENERATE.? Have a day love from TEXAS
This will pay for itself shortly. Easily if we would have had a full fall season under our belts with it.
would you be able to take those walls off for spring ?
You should see if they make some kind of wood chipper you can mount where the leave vac is when not in use for doing trees
yes
thanks
I do think u guys for the help
No problem TY
Nice setup. Question - don't you need a red marker flag (daytime) light (nighttime) on the furthest point in rear (billy goat). If >4' for my state.
May I make a suggestion if you don't already have it.. but I put a kit on my rig to keep the batteries charged while I'm driving
Thanks, we will be doing this down the road.
Most modern trailer light 7 way connectors, already have a lead that is always hot when the ignition is on. It is designed for just that purpose. Any 14,000 GVW trailer will come with a 7 way connector since it probably has electric brakes. Any dump trailer...since it has an onboard battery...WILL already be wired to match the truck and the battery will stay charged from the trucks charging system.
I have several trailers and a brush chipper that have their own deep cycle battery. I got tired of buying so many batteries, since seldom used batteries don't last more than a year or two these days. I ran a #2 cable from my truck battery , under the truck, and out to the area where the trailer lights plug in. I then tossed the battery on the trailers and attached some #2 cable from where the battery was connected and put a wire connector that matches the one that I put on my trucks. I discovered that if I had a semi weak (end of life) battery on my dump trailer. It would NOT dump a heavy load. I also put the same connector a foot from the end of some heavy duty jumper cables. I can jump start something from the back of my trucks without trying to connect to the side terminals on a battery.
Looks good. Might want to put a red flag on the billy goat. Just for safety. You have to put a t solid cover where needed butt don't totally inclose it yep need air escape.
Everything sells for the right price! If they don’t have a sweet offer tell the magazine to kick bricks.
Thanks Johnny
HELLO, FROM MY UNDERSTANDING YOU STARTED THIS CHANNEL TO HELP OTHERS AS YOU KNOW A PRICE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ATTACHED TO EVERYTHING, WALK IN THE DOOR GOD HAS OPENED FOR YOU, IN OTHER WORDS DO THE MAGAZINE, THAT'S MY TWO CENTS WORTH..BLESSINGS..
Thanks Terry
Would you be able to get a longer tarp for the roll up tarp to put over the box?
Probably but we will be using that for regular use.
When you go to chain the door back with the vacuum system twist your chain and it will tighten up to shorten the length of your chain without actually cutting your chain
Thanks
I've asked you on another video of yours did you have these sides made up or did you buy them for this trailer please comment back I am very intrested thank you very much
Think that would be great to have the Magazine use a photo of your Debri Trailer as long as you are paid well. Remember that pond and dim dar ducks aint cheap.
Thanks Alan, We agree and sent back our stipulations.
@@SpencerLawnCare Awesome.Good luck and best wishes.
Do you carry a spare tire for the trailer(s) and truck?
question where did you buy youre boots from
Red wings
Who did you have do the aluminum and the door.
Have you considered Rhino Guard or spray in liner on the aluminum?
we have thought about it.
You should mounted the vac in the front and that will also saved all that extra time from making the door and more other kinds of good reasons like the hose is in the middle so its closer to the front and back with the truck and if someone runs into the trailer the vac would be ruined instead of just having a ruined door but a fully working non damaged vac and still can pick up leaves
Is this your first leaf cleanup year?
No this is year 9 for us. First with this setup!
No you don't know us, but we know Y'all!! And we love Y'all!! ❤️ ❤️
Hahaha, true
@@SpencerLawnCare 😊❤️👍
Please respond to my question regarding the hoops on top. Thank you.
Did you add the rake attach on billy goat
No it comes with it.
just got my isotunes link
sweet man, you will love them.
I know b-wise has the wireless remote
Awesome man
Keep it yours
One question do y’all worry about weather rusting the part on the engine of the debris loader
It could for sure. We will be covering it when not in use.
Only do the magazine if they pay you really good.
Are those chickens for egg laying or for meat?
Both
Do the sides come off
Yes they can
Looks like the eye hook is starting to open up on the security chain when you open up the door
I would not vent the front reason being if you ever fill the trailer up all the leaves will be pushed to the front once the front is full your venting is gone vent the rear half of the trailer
Thanks man
@@SpencerLawnCare anytime I’m always happy to help
What was the price on the build?
If it's a trade magazine yes do it
Two choices apply for a patent and get into building them or sell your design but get paid for your design don't just give it away
I agree with that.
I don't see anything proprietary here. Any welding shop to build that.
