What paints do you use? They are so , as you always say, “juicy”, and are so vibrant and thick. The ones I have used don’t seem to be that flowing.
Thank you - actually both good student paints - Maimeri Classico and Daler-Rowney Georgian. When the paints are affordable you feel less guilt layering it on thick 😀

I have trouble with dark slater purple expanses. You say sky is lightest area of a painting and I don’t know how to make my dark skies brighter. They are the backdrop for vivid green and oranges of autumn trees btw. Help please
This is a general rule and you can break it if it suits your concept for the painting. If you want the sky to look closer to the actual light value you need to check your choice of blue. Usually a cerulean blue with white will get a typical light sky. Add ochre or alizarin if necessary to add variety.
