      And it’s spot on.
I started following Jente, juts because she is the way she is. And that’s what makes you follow. Sooo many UA-camrs I started following but later on stopped watching, just because they started to focus on growing their channel and then lost the first original wibe they first had.
You do you Jente! That’s why we’re all here 🫶🏻

Seeing all the finished yarns together made me think about how beautiful a hand-spun colorwork sweater would be. Creative juices are flowing!

Right now my plan is cables. But I still have half of that blue texel fleece to go through, and I think that a colourwork sweater with the darker shade of blue texel would be amazing!

Just caught up on your recent videos and I wanted to say a HUGE thank you for your coverage of the TDF. I absolutely loved hearing about all your fibre shenanigans. 😊 It was a welcome distraction for me as I am a carer for my 88 yr old Mom (she’s currently in hospital and not doing so well), and I really needed something to take my mind off that. Your videos always make me smile, and I have to say your personality is not unlike my own in many ways … except for me, I am not only passionate about my crafting/history/art, but I have spent the last 11 years working as a storm chaser (and wildlife photographer/researcher in the "off" season), as well as caring for Mom. I am super excited to see what you make with all your lovely yarn! I am currently spinning a huge quantity of fibre on my Russian spindles to make an intricate, vintage Shetland hap shawl. I am 1/4 of the way through, and find spinning on spindles pretty fast when you get the hang of it. Hugs from Down Under … 🥰

You're also a real artist, have a genuine heart, and you're intelligent and a think outside the box independent thinker which is so rare for your generation. It's no wonder that you're so easy to fall in love with and you are gaining so many new followers. Congratulations!

I agree Tour de Fleece has been great for growth. I’m a smaller channel than you are, but I have gotten 70 new subscribers during TDF, and that seems crazy to me!
Thank you for tagging me in one of your videos, and I think that may have helped as well! I don’t know how to check that, but I have been assuming it had to do with you, and I have been feeling grateful to you for that. ❤

This was my first tour de fleece and I’m so proud to say I successfully spun three skeins of 2-ply worsted weight yarn. Two of the skeins were Corriedale and one was Falkland wool. I only took up spinning in May so this feels like a massive accomplishment!

But I also know anxiety and the lies it tells us - its a daily battle. But believe you me, you are nailing it !! I am not a spinner and I have been subscribed to your channel for a year now, I started watching you last years TdF - I love your yarn shenanigans just as much as I love yarn.

I couldn’t even begin to guess how many metres you have spun during Tour De Fleece. I am however positive that it’s several kilometers, and well over double what you did last year. You have managed to make longdraw your own and I can’t wait to see the gorgeous sweaters you are going to knit from this.
Thank you as well for this peek behind the scenes of what it is to be a fibre arts content creator. Burn-out is a real thing, I’m glad you’re taking measures to avoid it. It’s important to take good care of yourself and as much as I love the biweekly vlogs, I wouldn’t want you to risk your health and happiness for the sake of giving me a fibre and chaos goblin fix.
My first Tour De Fleece has been magical. I have you to thank for that, because you got me to pluck up the courage to join. It’s been an adventure, an inspiration and I’ve learned so much! Being able to geek out online about spinning with likeminded people, admiring what they made, getting ideas for possible future spins, daring to try techniques completely new tome, and generally having fun was wonderful. Getting positive and encouraging feedback about the yarn I produced was such a great motivator as well. I’m a little sad it’s ended and am definitely looking forward to next year.
Have fun casting on with that Blue Texel. 😊

As an Aussie I know only too well the Merino obsession but I too am always on the lookout for local to me other fleece, currently spinning Shropshire and enjoying it’s strength and style along with the opportunity to use the yarn in different ways. I am sure you are inspiring others to try spinning interesting fleeces
    Thanks

I have watched your whole tour whilst spinning my first 1000m so I am guessing you did 5.3km. I have large bobbin envy. My ashford traditional I can only get about 80m per plied bobbin on - But I can drive an hour south in New Zealand to where the ashford wheels are made which is I think pretty cool. Thankyou for all your company and knowledge.

You could get a jumbo bobbin for your traddy? Mine only came with the jumbo one, so only my double drive wheel has small bobbins, but she's made for very fine yarns, so that's ok.

Anxiety is a lifetime of overthinking.. I'm an expert at it and anxiety comes with mt personality. Sometimes its overwelming and sometimes I can escape. I have a backup plan..a few backup plans that help me navigate retirement. Do we ever retire from a lifelong passion though? No not really.
