I have a Loch Ness 0-4-0 0F. Got it way back in 1990 (when I believe it was first launched in this livery), and it's currently the only train from my collection from when I was a child, that still runs. Funnily enough, I use to like running it with the same 4-wheel coaches that you have here. Sadly, I don't have a model railway these days, but my Loch Ness continues to get used at Christmas when I'll set up a circle of track around the base of the tree :-)
Ooh that sounds fantastic - yes that must be the same one I have too then, and yes they look lovely with the 4-wheeled coaches! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I'm pretty sure the brown one has the same body as the Santa Express I have. You are right about the 0-4-0s being what keeps Hornby going. The company was built by making the O gauge 0-4-0s in the interwar years. It's nice to think that these are the successors of those original tin plate models.
Hi David, you could be right there - they do like to re-use the different bodies! Yeah very true - it's amazing how far they've come, in a relatively short time really! All the best, Sam :)
1:37 This is my favorite Hornby train, but my one is the 105 version where the whole model is red with a golden 105 lettering, and that model holds a special place in my heart. Besides loads of GWR 101 trains being made by Hornby in starter sets.
The LSWR engine is based on the GWR 101 class 0-4-0T. #101 was built in 1901 at Swindon Works. It was designed by James Holden and was intended for use on the Wrington Vale Light Railway. However due to technical issues, the engine was never put into service and in 1905 it was converted back into a coal burner (it was experimented as an oil burner) and worked as a shunter at Swindon Works. It was scrapped in 1911 at the young age of 10.
my favorite is a toss-up between the Caledonian railway pug, or the GWR Holden 101 class (the brown one). come to think of it, i saw a set featuring the 101 class made by hornby called the Irish freight. the locomotive itself is painted in a emerald and gold livery and the flying snail emblem of the Coras Iompair Eileann (Irish Transport System) or CIE, and the set also contains 3 pieces of rolling stock; a mineral wagon, a tanker car and a box van. there's also the usual accoutrements, an assortment of track pieces, a transformer etc. I've actually been looking for this set for a while, so i was wondering what you'ld think of it if you review it and if you know where i can get one. thank you.
Ahh good choices Andrew, hard for me to choose too! Keep an eye on Ebay or train fairs when they start again - they should be reasonably common! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Sam, I know that this video is 4 yrs old but I just love the little 0-4-0 trains; they are so cute. Wife wants me to get a blue one but I happen to like the green one, that's if I can find one. When I say that I watch your reviews I really do believe everything you say as you seem so fair and reasonable. I have never thought that you were unjust, ever. Keep up the vids boy !!! Thank you, rick the Bulldog.
What are the item numbers for those three 0-4-0s because they all look great my favorite is the brown but I love the great southern engine and they would make great shunters.
My first model was an 0-4-0 from a train set, it was a blue version of that lswr brown one. It still works, and it hasn't been serviced in about 8 or so years since I got it and still runs reasonably well, however it can stop at low speeds, probably just needs a service. Other than that, the copper coloured piece on the top is missing and one of the front buffers has broken off. So I guess you can say it has been well played with
Okay mate, glad to hear you were okay with it! It's not going to take over the channel - it's just going to be for the next 6 weeks on Mondays - then I'll review it! Cheers, Sam :)
Thanks Simon - sorry if it's not been too interesting for you! Haha, it'll be so exciting when you finally get your things out! :D All the best, Sam :)
We love these little locos. Got the first one in Southern colours, (which my wee boy calls Ivor :P ). If we could find the last one in LMS colours! Is the middle one based on a real loco, do you know?
Thanks very much! Oh yeah that southern one is lovely! I don't know whether it's directly based on any loco in particular, but it might have been inspired by a real class - not too sure really! Cheers again, Sam :)
These 0-4-0's are great fun for starters but they are prone to taking off if going at full power with the older models :). I had a few of them a long time ago but I am looking at doing some train set reviews. I have just done a review of the Hornby Railways R777 High Speed Train Set that was released in 1988 if you wanted to see it mate. All the best Ash.
Its a nice set in my opinion mate. The HST did screech a bit but I have now fixed this by giving it a full service and it runs great considering it is a 30 year old train set. I do plan to get and review more train sets in due course as I think that the older train sets are better quality and have a train controller that doesn't trip out when a load is applied in the form of a train. It has to be said that the R8250 train controller that comes with modern train sets is an underpowered heap of doo-doo and it doesn't even have an output for powered accessories like colour light signals and points for example. The R965 that was provided in train sets from 1995 to 2006 was much better. The R914 was the best single track controller made as it had a 1.5amp output and could handle almost any train thrown at it :).
Thanks for taking my request, Sam! Love the new video format. I've changed my profile pic recently, so hopefully you still know who I am. You're also my favorite youtuber at the moment!
I only have one Pug, the GWR one, and I use it to pull my GWR auto coach as I can't seem to get my paws onto a 0-4-2. I just imagine she is. As soon as Hornby lists them for pre order, within seconds and before I get the notification, they are sold out...
Yep, the Class 101 Holden is real, old time black and white pictures from the turn of the 20th century don't lie... www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/67420-hornby-class-101-tank-engine-is-real/
Still wondering when will Hornby release the GWR Holden 101 class 0-4-0, i mean the others like the LSWR one here are fine, but still, it would be great to see the OG get a spotlight, and not the copies
Very nicely done same. Really like the format for the new series. Totally agree these little locos are under rated. Many modeller's despise them, but bet nearly all started their hobby with one. My first loco was the same as the LSWR Type, named 'Sentinel'. :) Excellent work and thanks for sharing
Thanks so much mate, really glad you liked the video - I was a bit nervous about doing this! Yeah absolutely right - you can't hate these - I know I could never have gotten to where I am today without them, I'd never have had the confidence to take anything more expensive to pieces to learn about it, haha! All the best, Sam :)
1:20 I thought the highland Railway only had yellow engines, not blue ones! 2:42 I'd like to see a small tender for this engine! Mainly because of it's bunker size, and the big hole! 5:35 I didn't know you had that American 0-4-0 with tender! I like these quick reviews! Have you done a running session with all of your small engines?
You might be right on the Yellow engines - I'm really no expert on these! And yeah - I don't run the american 0-4-0 much because one of it's tender wheels is missing - I'm looking to fix it though! Glad you liked the reviews - I like the idea of a small engine running session too! :D Cheers, Sam :)
Nice review, think everyone had one of these at some point. I had Smokey Joe in 1983, I was 11. Shame I don't still have it. I gave it to a neighbours lad who wanted to start his own layout. I see they still make them so should pick one up for nostalgia!
Thanks mate! Oh yeah, Smokey Joe was THE classic 0-4-0! Kind of you to give it to that lad though - hopefully you sparked the hobby off for him! Yeah I would - they're not expensive these days! All the best, Sam :)
Sam, I have a question. Can you make a video of how to service one of these 0-4-0's? I just bought a new 0-4-0 and I want to know how to service it so I can keep it in good condition. Thanks, Charlton
Hi Charlton, I could do - but it's really very simple! As long as you keep the wheels clean, and oil them gently, there's nothing you really need to do! I'd recommend a de-hairing once in a while, but that's all! Cheers, Sam :)
The reddish one with a tender, visible in the background at 5:33, is a North American loco. It's one of the cheapest American steam engines available. I don't think it's based on a specific real engine.
great video :) nice and quick , I have those same locos in different liverys!! my brown one is a great runner and is probably my smoothest runner as of just now , the southern green one is also good but doesn't seem to be able to pull much and loch Ness is a great loco !! - all the best
Thanks very much mate - yeah those brown ones do run great, mine's even DCC fitted! Yeah those green ones are too light really - mine can't manage a lot either! All the best, Sam :)
Hornby produced two Irish versions of the Holden tank, one in 1979 and another in 2000. Both of these had the CIÉ "flying snail" logo on the tank. As far as model locos go I would regard these as being the Renault 4 of models locos as these are basic, robust and reliable, ideal for a starter set. I have some fond memories of getting the 1979 version for Christmas in 1982 when I was 5. The set it was in had four wagons, an oval of track and an uncoupler.
The 0-4-0's or pocket rockets are often overlooked by most modellers but without them they might of not got into the hobby to begin with - sure they are not a best runners or detailed but they have their own charm and are great for youngsters.
Yeah you're absolutely right - they might even be considered toys - but that's true, they're the perfect entrance into the Hobby, with lots of charm! :D Cheers, Sam :)
So Sam let me get this straight. Some people have said your Wed. and Sat. videos are too long and your answer is to add up to an additional 10 minutes per week? I liked this format for a review and very much enjoyed this video. I think you should adopt this format for all of your reviews. Cheers Sam. David. ( six in sidings plus 3 running I marked my vote as 9)
Yeah! Well I normally upload something on a Monday, so I thought I'd try a series of shorter videos to try and attract some new enthusiasts and younger children! Nice quick videos are just the job for getting new-comers into the hobby, when a review takes 20+ minutes, you tend to lose them - according to my stats! Of course anyone's welcome though, so hopefully existing enthusiasts can enjoy them too! Glad you liked the format - it's really only ideal for basic models like these, otherwise I like to go into detail if it's a larger tender engine, and I think others seem to enjoy that too! All the best, Sam :)
My first (And Currently Only) train is the one from the Caledonian Belle, and I only just got it, so it's quite nice to see your opinions. As far as I'm aware, the shell of mine and the "Loch Ness" is the same, yet the details aren't. (It'e even seen at 4:05!) Overall, I like the new style of video, keep it up!
OH very nice! My first loco was also a Caledonian 0-4-0! And yeah you're right - the body is basically the same, just with slightly different detail! Thanks a lot for your kind comments, Sam :)
Like the little 4wheelers got a few of them. My favourite is Desmond its the same as the lockness saddle tank. Only she's red and was made in the early 80s.
Thanks Ian - I'm not sure I've heard of Desmond before, but i've just done a search for it, and have seen a picture - that red is absolutely superb, I probably prefer that to the blue actually! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
nice one mate, I've got one of the Holden oil tanks (GWR), one of the very early ones from the first year of production. It's ok, but like a lot of them it has two speeds, stop and woooosh. But thats cos the motor they use is based on one made for scalextic racing cars. Still think the best 0-4-0 Triang / hornby ever made was the Nelly / Polly / Connie ones, They look great and can pull loads with ease. Mind you have you seen the new Peckett 0-4-0st they have just issued? They look superb and there are test vids out of one of them pulling 30+ mineral wagons Love the new quickie format Jon
Hi Jon, thanks a lot for the comment as always mate - yeah that's true, stop and whoosh, haha! Definitely - the tri-ang 0-4-0s were the best, I have a couple myself, and they're by far the most powerful! Unfortunately I missed the boat on the pecketts, and they're now through the roof price-wise! Glad you liked the format too, Cheers, Sam :)
I built an interface using PWM control. It connects from the controller to the track. I now get very accurate control on the 0-4-0 which are now my favourite. The electronic parts only cost 2 quid
@@SamsTrains Hi Sam, It makes the voltage work digitally so therfore more accurate without expensive gear. Think of a switch that switches 12v and the loco goes full speed. 0v = stop When you operate analogue you get fluctuations of load and electric sparks make it worse so your control volts can be a little up and down especially at low speeds. Put simply Over a time period let say 60sec, switch on the 12v for 6 secs then 0v for 6 sec, repeat for the 60sec. (5x6 +5x6) This is a duty cycle of 50% so the loco will see 50% of 12v = 6v A duty cycle of 10% = 12/10 = 1.2v to the loco. End result a cleaner control voltage I am a retired controls engineer and this new hobby has stirred up a lot of interest
Thanks! Yeah they're Hornby's backbone - I don't have a diesel shunter to review sadly, since I've already done my 08 - I will do a steam shunter soon though! Cheers, Sam :)
I Love 0-4-0s In A Video’s Comment Section You Said Model Train 0-4-0s Are Very Good Like They Can Be A Beginners Train Is That True? I’m Looking For A 0-4-0 That Is Easy To Maintain
I only have 2 Hornby fast little engines, one of them is like the one at 1:24 that is in black with the LMS writing on its and the second one is like the southern on and it is the maroon "Lion works collieries" and I've got to say they're really fast
Hi Nick, thanks a lot for the comment! Originally I thought they were fictitious, but I'm told they do have real-life basis; the 101 Class, D Class, and 0F pug apparently! :D Cheers, Sam :)
I counted 8 plus Bullman. Well Sam, I love those 0-4-0. I admit my original Railway plan was going to be two Calidonian pugs and the breakdown train. But it was too little too late, but I love my N scale set, I atleast have two trains that work really nicely. I like the shorts and your usual long vids, I love learning about British Steam locomotives.
Smashing review Sam, did you know if you take away the cast frame from saddle tank you can use the plastic frame that remains with a Holden Body, hehe just me being a smart arse again,,, Regards Mark
Thanks again Mark! No I didn't know that - that's very useful to know though, thanks a lot - I'll bear that in mind if I ever need a replacement chassis! Cheers mate, Sam :)
I think that the shorter reviews will quite successfull. There were five others on the layout, my favourite was the LSWR 0-4-0 as it was my first loco I got. Keep the faith - Callum
Thanks a lot for the comment mate - glad you liked the new format, It seems to have done quite well so far! I love that LSWR version too - I just love the brown livery! All the best Callum, Sam :)
Hi Harry, thanks so much for the kind words - I'm really glad you liked it! haha, it was tricky to edit this down to 6 mins or so - but I hope it was worth it! :D All the best, Sam :)
Hi Callum - that one came from a job lot on Ebay - I bought about 12 0-4-0s in one go - I kept a couple, including that Green one, and also the brown one, and sold the rest on! All the best, Sam :)
In model form? Yes I think so, but the track scales get messed around a bit of course... so an O scale narrowgauge model would probably work on something like H0 track, or something like that!
I have no7 in dark British railways green with that be lettering. D class . And have just gave it a new chassis in 2023 and it was the last thing my grandad ever bought me before he died . On his last days he took me to a railway to see some similar 0-4-0 tanks . And when reviving this engine I actually modified it to be better with things like a whistle from a old broken hornby Percy, different chassis because the motor burned out on the old one, painting in them builders plates , weathering it on the buffer beams , footplate , smoke box , bunker , side rods and removing the front coupler like I do on all engines that’s how I restored a broken 0-4-0 d class from my grandad
Hi Morgan - I've never done that, because it's very easy - just clean the wheels, make sure everything's cleaned and oiled - and you'll be fine! All the best, Sam :)
Really wish that Hornby could make some more mainline tank engines instead of just generic 0-4-0 or 0-6-0's. Honestly I do not hate these ones, I just find that they are very unrealistic compared to having more N2 or N5 or J50/2's. I did enjoy the format a lot hopefully these don't replace running sessions though heheh. Cheers Avi
Oh yeah, you're absolutely right, they aren't very realistic at all - but they're great for children or beginners, who might not afford the more realistic and detailed locos! And don't worry - the normal videos will run alongside these as usual! Thanks for watching Avi, Sam :)
Hi Sam, I like the shorter video format, I believe today's attention span is rather short. The Southern tank has an attractive livery. Another case where I thought the model is fiction, but it is a slightly stretched version of a real loco. Have a look for Dowlais Ironworks in South Wales, two locos were named after King George V and Queen Mary to honour a royal visit in 1912. Regards, Cliff.
Hands down, the little giant is my favorite. Had it as a kid, and bought a new one recently to relive it. Motor burned out as it wasn't properly maintained as like I said, I was a kid. Loved it so much and still do!
I like these short reviews. I have enough time to watch them before school in the morning
Hi H - that's great news, and that was absolutely the idea - really glad it works well for you! :D

Ive got the highland blue one and its realy old and goes unrealisticly fast! Does yours do that?
haha yeah mine do that too - in recent years, hornby have slowed the 0-4-0s down though, which is much better! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I really like the Highland 8, it's so small but quite a nice looker too.
Thanks a lot! Yeah I like that one too - lovely livery - it pulls the best too!
Cheers,
Sam :)
All the best
Ash.
Thanks Ash - yeah they really are great fun actually! Ooh sounds great - I'll look that up!! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
The R914 was the best single track controller made as it had a 1.5amp output and could handle almost any train thrown at it :).
some of my first loco's still have them till this day!
Yeah me too mate - got to love 'em!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thanks for taking my request, Sam! Love the new video format. I've changed my profile pic recently, so hopefully you still know who I am. You're also my favorite youtuber at the moment!
No problem mate - thanks so much for watching! Yeah yeah, I remember! haha - I'm so glad you like my channel! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hey Sam I've got a 0-4-0 it's like the brown but it's green and is a GWR.
Oh yeah! I've seen those before - they're pretty nice! :D
All the best,
Sam :)
Yeah, the actual loco it's based off is a GWR 101 class Holden tank, that was built as a one off oil burner, so GWR would be a more accurate livery!
I got one of them!
All the best,
Sam :)
Cheers,
Sam :)
My favourite hands down would be my rare 2011 collectors club Midland Railway 0-4-0t. Her livery of crimson lake is just beautiful!
Ooh I bet that is beautiful - great find mate! :D
Thanks for watching,Sam :)
I like the shorter ones :)
That's good - there's another short one coming Monday! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thanks for the help! It seems like they are very low maintenance and easy to use! Thanks, Charlton.
The Southern tank engine is based on a class D 0-4-0T, they were used in several industrial lines.
Thanks again mate - I'll look those up!
Cheers,
Sam :)
I was almost close to getting one of those green 0-4-0 once for my birthday.
That's cool! What did you go for in the end?? ;D
Cheers,
Sam :)
A 0-4-0T GWR Class 101 that was part of the RailRoad GWR Freight Train Pack when the pack was sold on the U.S. Version of the Hornby website
The reddish one with a tender, visible in the background at 5:33, is a North American loco. It's one of the cheapest American steam engines available. I don't think it's based on a specific real engine.
Ahh okay - thanks a lot for the info! Yes it's not very detailed really - so I could believe it was just made up!
All the best,
Sam :)
Hi,
I am king of new to 00 gauge and i wanted to ask if there locomotives are real or fictional?
This is definitely different and I loved the intro and the episode
Thanks very much - yeah I was really happy with how this turned out! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains cheers
That London South Western loco is neat. Although it's a really obscure GWR oil fired 0-4-0, it is a nice fictitious, freelance design.
Thanks mate - yeah I love that one actually - I didn't know it was an oil fired one though!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
great video :) nice and quick , I have those same locos in different liverys!! my brown one is a great runner and is probably my smoothest runner as of just now , the southern green one is also good but doesn't seem to be able to pull much and loch Ness is a great loco !! - all the best
Thanks very much mate - yeah those brown ones do run great, mine's even DCC fitted! Yeah those green ones are too light really - mine can't manage a lot either!
All the best,
Sam :)
Thanks for the info David - yes indeed - I have some fond memories of these too! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
James May at 04:20: COW!!!!!!!!
Heheh lil top gear reference
haha!! Mooo! ;D
Can you do a review on the GWR panier tanks?
Hi mate, yeah I have done that actually - you can find them if you search my channel!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains Yeah? Thanks :)
I love when you do a first person view of the layout
Thanks!! Yeah I find that fun to do as well! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains welcome
I wonder if theyll ever make a detailed Pug with the proper valve gear
I wonder this too - it sure would be fantastic!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
The Highland Railway tank engine is actually a Caledonian Railway Pug. I have the Smokey Joe version of this tank engine.
Okay Vincent, duly noted - ah yeah I've seen smokey joe plenty of times before!
All the best,
Sam :)
Cheers,
Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
great infor cant go wrong with 0-4-0 from steam to new
arp
Thanks a lot mate - yeah, good old 0-4-0s! :D
All the best,
Sam :)
The brown one looks like Lady from Thomas and the Magic Railroad and the blue one looks like Percy.
William ou I said that 😡
Oh I didn't know that XD
William Ou I said just the same thing
Did you thomas used to be an 0-4-0?
I didn't know that!! :O
My first (And Currently Only) train is the one from the Caledonian Belle, and I only just got it, so it's quite nice to see your opinions. As far as I'm aware, the shell of mine and the "Loch Ness" is the same, yet the details aren't. (It'e even seen at 4:05!)
Overall, I like the new style of video, keep it up!
OH very nice! My first loco was also a Caledonian 0-4-0! And yeah you're right - the body is basically the same, just with slightly different detail!
Thanks a lot for your kind comments,
Sam :)
@@SamsTrains my one is a blue version of the green one
Do I own a hornby 0-4-0? Yes, 4 of them in fact. Infact the brown 0-4-0 LSWR one was the first loco I ever got. It was in 'the Rambler' train set!
Oh very nice - I love the LSWR livery! :D
Happy New Year,
Sam :)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
It a smart little engine. Glad you like it. Will look forward to the next video
I wonder how many of these have broken funnels like mine.
nice one mate, I've got one of the Holden oil tanks (GWR), one of the very early ones from the first year of production.
They look superb and there are test vids out of one of them pulling 30+ mineral wagons
Love the new quickie format
Jon
Hi Jon, thanks a lot for the comment as always mate - yeah that's true, stop and whoosh, haha! Definitely - the tri-ang 0-4-0s were the best, I have a couple myself, and they're by far the most powerful! Unfortunately I missed the boat on the pecketts, and they're now through the roof price-wise!
Glad you liked the format too,
Cheers,
Sam :)
I built an interface using PWM control. It connects from the controller to the track. I now get very accurate control on the 0-4-0 which are now my favourite. The electronic parts only cost 2 quid
That's great to hear Paul - how does that work then?! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains Hi Sam, It makes the voltage work digitally so therfore more accurate without expensive gear.
Think of a switch that switches 12v and the loco goes full speed. 0v = stop
When you operate analogue you get fluctuations of load and electric sparks make it worse so your control volts
can be a little up and down especially at low speeds. Put simply
Over a time period let say 60sec, switch on the 12v for 6 secs then 0v for 6 sec, repeat for the 60sec. (5x6 +5x6)
This is a duty cycle of 50% so the loco will see 50% of 12v = 6v
A duty cycle of 10% = 12/10 = 1.2v to the loco.
End result a cleaner control voltage
I am a retired controls engineer and this new hobby has stirred up a lot of interest
If i buy 1 hornby 0-4-0, can i exchange the frame to have different locos?
Yeah you can in most cases! :D
Merry Christmas - Sam :)
i love the southern 0 4 0 number 7 i love yore vids keep up the good work
Thanks! Yeah I really like that one too - thanks for your support!
Cheers,
Sam :)
These are cool I have a couple 0-4-0s , for a next express vid can we have diesel shunter
Thanks! Yeah they're Hornby's backbone - I don't have a diesel shunter to review sadly, since I've already done my 08 - I will do a steam shunter soon though!
Cheers,
Sam :)
sam can you reveiw a corgi wild west loco i have 3 and some machtbox loco
That sounds awesome - great idea!! :D
I Love 0-4-0s In A Video’s Comment Section You Said Model Train 0-4-0s Are Very Good Like They Can Be A Beginners Train Is That True?
I’m Looking For A 0-4-0 That Is Easy To Maintain
Thank you! Yeah they are very good for beginners - and they're very cheap too! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I only have 2 Hornby fast little engines, one of them is like the one at 1:24 that is in black with the LMS writing on its and the second one is like the southern on and it is the maroon "Lion works collieries" and I've got to say they're really fast
Ooh yeah I know the ones - those are the most fun locos to own though! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Very nice review there cute little things. Sorry if this is a stupid question but just asking are these based off of real Locomotives?
Hi Nick, thanks a lot for the comment! Originally I thought they were fictitious, but I'm told they do have real-life basis; the 101 Class, D Class, and 0F pug apparently! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Oh wow that's awesome and yep no problem ^^
Lol yep you sure are lol
I counted 8 plus Bullman. Well Sam, I love those 0-4-0. I admit my original Railway plan was going to be two Calidonian pugs and the breakdown train. But it was too little too late, but I love my N scale set, I atleast have two trains that work really nicely.
I like the shorts and your usual long vids, I love learning about British Steam locomotives.
Very cool - I think that's right! haha fair enough - absolutely, if you enjoy them, that's all!
Thanks for all your support mate,
Sam :)
Theese are most of the engines I have. I have another two wheeled engine but I don't think its the models you showed it is the R3360 RailRoad 0-4-0
Ahh very nice - they sound awesome mate! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
You should review the hornby Thomas 0-4-0
I like this new type of video. tbh though, I was really surprised that you fit all of that into one 6 minute video! :)
Thanks very much mate! Yeah I was amazed that I managed it too - I wasn't even rushing that much! D:
Cheers,
Sam :)
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
What American trains do you have
Quite a few now - I won't spoil the surprises, but one of them's a Birkshire! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hi Sam, I do like the highland railway Number 8, and enjoyed the first of many short videos. Cheers John.
Thanks Jon, yeah they are very smart in that livery - glad you liked the format too, hopefully others will enjoy it too!
Cheers,
Sam :)
I have the Lswr 0-4-0 but they have different liveries/GWR/E&GR/Christmas etc
Ahh yes! I've seen them in lots of those liveries too! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Not including the running ones I counted 7 0-4-0s parked on the layout.
Well done Steve, I think that was it! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Great little review about these little engines!
Thanks very much - I'm glad you liked it!
Cheers,
Sam :)
This is a great idea, and the new intro is cool, oskar
Thanks Oskar - glad you liked it mate! Yeah it's my special 'Express' intro!
Thanks again,
Sam :)
Does hornby still make these in these liveries???
Not sure about these liveries, but both models are still being made! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
All the best Callum,
Sam :)
1:31 that's a locomotive that lady from Thomas and the magic railroad and calling all engines
Was based on
Cool! Yeah one other person said that too - that's pretty interesting, I'll google her! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
The LSWR tank engine was in a Thomas and Friends Mr.Perkins short.
Ooh was it?!? :O
wow Sam, another awesome video. How do you do it? :)
Hi Harry, thanks so much for the kind words - I'm really glad you liked it! haha, it was tricky to edit this down to 6 mins or so - but I hope it was worth it! :D
All the best,
Sam :)
whats with the neon coachs at the satrt thats diffrent!
haha! I'm sorry if they blinded you - I wanted something a bit different for the 'express' videos! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
o dont worry u did not i like a change!
Sam, instead of using two controllers you should buy a guage master controller which can control three different tracks
Oh that's a good idea - that spare one was for lights originally, but it's not got enough umph!
I'll look into that!
Cheers,
Sam :)
I remember my 0-4-0. I got it when I was eight and it only worked three years later.
Thanks for the comment Max - it only worked for those years then?? I'm surprised at that!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
where did you get the green one from?
Hi Callum - that one came from a job lot on Ebay - I bought about 12 0-4-0s in one go - I kept a couple, including that Green one, and also the brown one, and sold the rest on!
All the best,
Sam :)
I love the LSWR locomotive. It's so pretty.
It is also my favourite of the 3 too!
Cheers, H
is there such thing as a narrow gauge engine
Love the different intro for express
haha thanks! I'm sorry if it blinded you ;)
All the best,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains no it was fine but unexpected
Could you do a video on how to service them? :)
Morgan
Hi Morgan - I've never done that, because it's very easy - just clean the wheels, make sure everything's cleaned and oiled - and you'll be fine!
All the best,
Sam :)
but I don't know how to open them
Morgan
Can you get a review of Takara Tomy Train Sets
Maybe one day mate - I don't know if I have the space to start a new railway system just yet - maybe though! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I have 2 0-4-0 locomotives them being a GWR one and Smokey Joe.
Ooh very nice - those both sound lovely!
Thanks for the comment,
Sam :)
Epic congrats on 6k subs
All the best
-Toby
Thanks a lot Toby - I couldn't do it without people like you of course! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Wasnt there a diesel locomotive?
An 0-4-0? Yes there was! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains and another one made for like a Lbsc and queen elizabeth loco
Sam you put this Video in your "Express Videos" List two times! :0
Oh yeah - so I did! Thanks for that - I've fixed it!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Cheers
Avi
Oh yeah, you're absolutely right, they aren't very realistic at all - but they're great for children or beginners, who might not afford the more realistic and detailed locos! And don't worry - the normal videos will run alongside these as usual!
Thanks for watching Avi,
Sam :)
i really like the green one. fantastic video.
Thank you, me too! :D
Glad you enjoyed it,
Sam :)
Thanks Cliff, glad you thought it was okay, I thought I'd try it at least! Thanks for that, I will look those up!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Those engines are popular in starter sets, aren't they
Yes they are!!
I have 2 o-4-os that have cab detail but it is not painted.
Ooh yeah I know the ones - it's great that they have detail at all! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
