This was a super entertaining watch! Something new I'm excited to add to the mix here! Let me know your first viewing experience of this film.

Have a Daredevil Season 2 Episode on Friday and The Mandalorian (Season 1) on Saturday Enjoy the day!
The guy who plays Ernie is a British rapper named Bugzy Malone. That's why the fight porn was so fire
Can you react to Black Swan? 😊
Since Guy Ritchie gangster movies seem to agree with you, I quite like Rock'n'Rolla; or, if you want to see him get serious and introspective, maybe Revolver
When I first saw the trailer, i was like "Looks like Guy Ritchie's back at what he does best" and I was not dissapointed at all! He always brings the best out of his cast, dialogue is always most quotable stuff, oh, and did you know Fletcher was played by Hugh Grant? i hardly recognized him in this film.
I agree! I love how unique all the characters are, I honestly miss gangster movies like this! I can’t wait to see your reaction to Snatch! 😃
This is a very underrated one imo. Had a blast watching it and Hugh Grant is amazing
Hugh Grant was hilarious. Honestly everyone was
I don't think there's a Guy Ritchie movie out there that's underrated. That's like saying Reservoir Dogs is underrated
I didn't even know Hugh Grant had that range in him. I have never been a huge fan but after this movie, damn he's godly
It really is underrated
This & Paddington 2 are Hugh Grant’s best roles.
Dont know If this was just me and my Friends. But we were laughing for like 10 minutes when Charlie Hunnam is revealed in the bushes
😂😂😂
I felt this movie didn’t get the praise it deserved, I thought it was brilliant! was cool seeing that you loved it too
Hey what’s up guys! And right?? For me I really enjoyed this just on the comedy and entertainment level alone! What a fun watch
@@JamesVSCinema ever since seeing it in the cinema I’ve wanted to watch it again 😊 thank you for watching it! Can’t wait for the next video dude, your Instagram is awesome too btw
You’re so right this film underperformed for its brilliant quality. If I remember right it came out in January which is never a high point for viewing figures so maybe it’s just that. It will be a cult classic like snatch in a few years to be sure.
Guy Ritchie is one of the best directors out there. His storytelling, camera work, etc are insane. Snatch, Lock Stock, RocknRolla, Man From U.N.C.L.E. are musts.
Dude, Man From U.N.C.L.E is such an underrated movie, a lot of people need to see it. I love that damn movie! I hope James watches it!
Don’t mention Aladdin !
@@nathanthomas5133 ha for real
He aint that good, Man from UNCLE was shit, So was Sherlock Holmes 1 & 2, So was Rock and Rolla, so was King Arthur
@@cryogenixoldskool5803 HATER ALERT
Dang. Snatch is an absolute must. RocknRolla and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. are two other Guy Ritchie films well worth watching.
Haven’t seen snatch. Stay tuned for that
RocknRolla is my favorite Guy Ritchie movie. Still waiting for The Real RocknRolla.
Also "Lock Stock and two smoking barrels" which is the first full movie of Guy Ritchie and his distinct style of writing and shooting.
This!
@@JamesVSCinema have you seen The Man from UNCLE?
I managed to see this one in theatres and i was pleasantly surprised. Especially with how involved in the story Charlie Hunnam was, from the trailers i expected him to be a side character but he really was the the viewpoint from which we the viewer experience the story. The movie had style, definitely worth repeat viewing.
Yeah I could watch this film multiple times with just the humor alone haha
I love the mutual respect that Hunnam and Farrell's characters have, even though they're from two different worlds
Yeah
Also: in my opinion EVERY actor in this flick was awsome and on top of their game! It's a true ensemble-film, on top of everything else...
Fun fact - Guy Ritchie is also advertising the barbecues in this film. The one that Ray character has is the type that is available to the public now. It is an amazing advertisement, the best I've ever seen.
Can't wait for your reaction to Lock, Stock and Two smoking Barrels and then Snatch! You're going to LOVE them.
Can’t wait either!
Gotta add RocknRolla! Should have gotten a sequel but it didn’t preform well at the box office 😢
This is the last movie I saw in theaters before the pandemic. Wasn't my favourite film, but damn, I'd give anything to safely be able to go to the movies again.
Oh yeah hopefully it comes soon!
My second favourite of 2020. So quotable, so stylish, and just so much fun.
Guy Ritchie really is at home with this type of film. He's like a British Tarantino with his dialogue. He has a way of making every side character memorable. Colin Farrell's character might be my favourite character of 2020. He's so good.
You gotta check out Snatch, too. Definitely.
Most definitely homie!
I know this is like four months later but I just realized that when Mickey (Matthew) shows up at Rosalind's and finds Dry Eye he looks like a lion with blood around his mouth as if he's been feeding.
I remember not knowing anything about this film the first go around but it became one of my favorites. I loved your reaction and I'm glad you doing good James. Much love
It’s just such a good time to watch in my opinion hahaha! Thanks again homie, much love!
I love Guy Ritchie's style of filmmaking. This movie I bought immediately after I watched it because I knew it was something I'd watch over and over throughout time. It's just so danm good!
I freaking love this movie! Such an under appreciated film
Also the wardrobe for every character is perfect!
“did he first episode black mirror this” I died 😂
Man...everybody in this movie brought their A-game!!! 👏
All the characters (and actors) were all so incredibly charming in this film and I remember really enjoying how the story was told - it flowed so fell. Just a fun film and a fun, insightful commentary as always!
Right!? Everyone was just a blast to watch in every scene haha. Thank you Anastasia!
If u like snatch check out Lock Stock as well
TEXTURE! That’s the word I couldn’t come up with to describe how wonderful the cinematography was. It was almost a character all on its own.
13:25 - This segment PERFECTLY portrays the dynamic at hand. I'm pretty sure he'a always had THAT gun, WHILE RUNNING TO KEEP UP, just strapped to his body somehow, before swinging it up and around- like WHAT?! He ran all the way here with that GUN dangling in the perfect hidden position?! It puts you in a the moment of "What the fuck is happening- Did he just pull a- Is that gun a- EVERY QUESTION GETS WORSE!
(sorry James, been feeling better, love revisiting the old reactions.
The RDJ Sherlock Holmes movies are great from Ritchie too. He's a cracking director, def is a feel to his movies.
Subbed
With how few films have been released this year Gentlemen is leading as my favorite and best currently.
I could feel your excitement for this one, made me just as excited!! Love the energy you bring to your videos!!!
This was a treat! Snatch is must watch...but in the same 'genre' check out Lock, Stock and my favorite Rocknrolla. You'll love them all.
Saw this in theaters in January when it came out and was so happy to see Ritchie back in his best form.
Snatch and Lock,Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was his hay day then he went off script with some duds for awhile, so his return in this one just made me so happy. Highly recommend both of those if you liked this one.
You should 100% react to The Master - a film from Paul Thomas Anderson (same as There Will Be Blood, Phantom Thread, Punch Drunk Love). It’s his best I think! Also the processing scene during the film is maybe the best scene of the 2010s
The James Bond 007 movie series would be cool to react to on here.
Snatch and lock, stock and two smoking barrels, is what put Guy Ritchie on the map.
This film cost £22million. How did Guy make such a great film for so little? I'd've thought Matthew McConaughey was about half the budget.
If you're interested in going back in time a bit then one of my favourite movies is 'Kind hearts and coronets' from 1949. It's a pitch black comedy/drama about a serial murderer in Edwardian England.
Colin Farrell stole the show in this movie. He needed to be more in the film for sure!
He plays that role so well!
People recommending Snatch and not Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels? Crazy.
Have to watch both. Its a must.
Lock stock and two smoking barrels is sooo good! Definitely need to watch both!
I found this movie from a UA-cam short and I absolutely fell in love with it. The short I seen was when Ray was trying to get the phone from the kid in the ally.
Movie of the year for me, casting Hugh Grant as a sleazeball was a genius move.
How about Sexy Beast (2000) ray winstone, ben kingsley
There were so many good parts, but my favourite low key moment was Raymond's expression when Phuc jumped off the bridge - that 'not again' look as another one falls to his death on Ray's watch is hilarious
“Fuck sake Raymond. You need to start investing in parachutes…who is this jumping fuckboy anyway” 😂😂
I have the same reaction every time I see Colin Farrell in anything. 🤣 This movie was bomb 💣 🙌🏻👏🏻
Lock Stock and Snatch are two movies that are British film at their finest
love all the video game shout outs in ya vids, and everything else!
Great Reaction James. By the time I finish my essays on the 18th, I'll have a lot more time to enjoy these videos.
That’s great to hear man! Cheering you on!
They're making a tv show based on this movie! Same director.
The second I heard Matthew McConaughey's voice over at the beginning I burst out laughing because it sounded like one of his commercials. You also know he doesn't die at the beginning because the guy behind him pulls out a gun with a silencer on it.
This film was so much better than I expected it to be, it was fantastic.
Maybe it’s because of nostalgia but while the Gentleman was great snatch is one of the all time greats of cinema to me, very excited to see you react to it!
Loved this movie! Every part of it. And, Charlie Hunnam was just controlled rage.
I rewatched this the other day
One of those films you can rewatch and rewatch again and again
I just saw this film yesterday and I thought I'd chime in with a recommendation. The Gentlemen is basically Guy Ritchie doing his version of the classic British gangster flick The Long Good Friday (1980). It's been years since I've seen it and I didn't twig to the similarity until the end of the film when it hits you over the head. The setup (gangster wants to go legitimate) is not particularly unique to TLGF, but the final scene in it IS. And one of the last few scenes of The Gentlemen is a direct homage to it. I'd be surprised if others haven't mentioned it in the comments. Check it out, it's a stone cold classic that launched the careers of Bob Hoskins and Pierce Brosnan.
I love the homage to The Long Good Friday towards the end.
I thought Hugh Grant’s performance as Fletcher was outstanding, totally different to what we are used to seeing him in....
Snatch is one of my favorite movies ever made. So quotable and rewatchable
So glad you watched this and thoroughly enjoyed your reaction! It's so great seeing Hugh Grant in a different role. All the characters are well thought out and performed so well. I loved Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnman, Colin Farrell and his boys playing somewhat honourable thugs. Most of Guy Ritchie's films are so good and often quintessentially British. The soundtracks are always fantastic. Snatch is brilliant and I'm so excited to see your reaction to that. If you can I'd also really recommend Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
The lighting in the kitchen scene made it feel like a stage play!
So happy you enjoyed it!
Such a good watch! Hahaha!
Hahahahha did not expect you guys here
I love the homage to the iconic ending scene in the car from The Long Good Friday at the end here. This whole movie feels like a re-imagining of that movie. Only not quite up to par, in my opionion.
13:00 after the spray shooting, he trained his gun off screen, to his mark, that kid, eye sight semi auto
Wonderful reaction. Wonderful takes.
Thank you!
Im loving all your videogame comparisons recently, the buck call out was entirely accurate. Also watch Snatch you will absolutely love it
You've just made me so happy, although I must say I've got a project due in 4-5 hours, and I've barely started putting my information down but I might just enjoy this reaction to get my mind right
Hahaha glad to hear! Rooting for you homie
@@JamesVSCinema thanks for the vote of confidence, bro, and definitely if you haven't, watch The Man from UNCLE, you'll be impressed.
I love it came around the same time that 'Once upon a time in Hollywood', both are different takes of a love letter to cinema itself.
👏👏👏 loved it - great movie and the reaction was 👌...thx James
I saw it in the movie theatre when it came out. It was an awesome experience. I love it.
I absolutely love this movie, I saw it 3 times in theatres
I love the film takes it's time in the beginning to establish these REALLY STRONG characters with many facets- You can't help but be invested in anything else having to do with them.
It's a bit like Snatch, in that the various mad characters aren't often on the same side, until a fateful moment in the story that proves more beneficial than anything they've gone after previously. Snatch feels more regimented, with the Boxers, the Gypsies, the Organized Crime, the Pawn Shop Owners - Who could you root for in such a level playfield of these characters who end up the ones tricked, like in the beginning, by just about everyone.
I dunno, love how fragmented and separate different story elements feel- I wish he had more time to rehearse with the actors, I dunno.
Guy is amazing. Very well shot movie which he sometimes doesn't get credit for. Love this guy
Loved your reaction dude - your film knowledge makes it.
Guessing you’ve done in Bruges.
I've rewatched this movie 3 or 4 times and it's one of those great movies that get better with each watch. Guy Ritchie's a master
One of my favourite all time films idk being English I just love it (also goated cast big up bugzy)
I remember watching this in the theatre with my pops, going in just expecting an average movie... we left thinking it was damn amazing lmao
The look of excitement on your face when Colin Farrell makes his appearance. So delightful.
I am intrigued by Matthew McConaughey's character and his relationship with his wife. There is so much I want to learn about both. But the movie only gives us bits and pieces of information.
Have you noticed the the little twitches in Charlie Hunnam's performance? They seem to occur when his character, Raymond, is upset or nervous. I love that detail.
YES to Snatch.
this whole movie is cool scene after cool scene. i love it
The 3 Guy Ritchie films that I treasure are Lock,Stock - Snatch and the Gentleman. They really are next level and near perfect films.
Hey, that Buck shoutout is spot on! Hugh Grant definitely reminded me of Buck from Far Cry 3, similar vibes.
You have to watch Snatch and Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels! 2 of my all time favourite movies, Guy Ritchie just has this really cool way of putting together a big cast and make most characters shine in their own way. Rocknrolla is also a big recommend! :)
I’ll make note of that!!
One of Guy Ritchie's best. My fav's would be 1. Snatch 2. The Gentlemen 3. The Covenant
hey man, fan from the UK here, If you are interested in more films similar to this then please add these few to your list. Snatch. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. and finally, RocknRolla. Cinematography in these movies are phenomenal and im sure you would appreciate the process behind each one. keep it up my dude!
I ran across your review looking for something else. I love this filem (to quote the Couch) and seeing your response of it was priceless. Well done. You should tried Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels first, then Snatch, then maybe Revolver (its very weird Guy Ritchie filem) OOO and Rock N Rolla. All of his gansta flicks. Such a great writer, director.
that intro of colin farrel was all that was needed to make me want to see the movie.
"when the lions hungry he eats" awesome line.
Man from UNCLE, Snatch, or maybe The Sting if you haven’t ever had the pleasure.
Hey James! Just wondering what program do you use to record your reactions and edit them? Also, great reaction as always! One of the best films of 2019/2020!
You are right I totally recognize that guy from Attack the Block. Need to watch Snatch myself, I’ll have to put that on my list
btw happy to see you back on the grind.. and hope you had enjoyed your short hiatus lol
Oh it was much needed! Had a great time enjoying the time 🙏🏽 thanks homie!
Guy Ritchie has done some great movies. The two sherlock Holmes with RDJ, snatch is unbelievable, lock stock and two smoking barrels, Rock n rolla and now this movie. Guy Ritchie is the man for gangster movies for sure
Also, my friend, as always, love your passion for film,. Keep on Truckin'.
Means everything brother. One day at a time!
Glad you enjoyed this one..top notch stuff :)
Really did!!
Love your insights and would love to see you cover the original 12 angry men
This is a film I can put into my top 10 favorite films without question and there’s not a lot of films I can put in there that confidently.
Oh man, I forgot you haven't seen Snatch yet. SO GOOD.
The Gentleman does lift a scene from the Long Good Friday, near the end. Bob Hopkins did it better, but the story telling style of the Gentleman pulls me in
Probably my favourite film of the last five years. A hilarious, fast paced, stylistic, well acted crime thriller! Guy Ritchie seems to never misses his shot with his British crime films, there’s always blood and fucking feathers everywhere! 😂
Ernie is actually a big british rapper in real life going by the name of Bugzy Malone
what a learned from this reaction... ‘THIS ENTIRE SCENE...’
Has anyone watched this film and taken notes about the fashion? I really loved Charlie’s vests and trenchcoat in this movie. I’ve also gone to my tailor in London and gone for one suit Matthew wears (the one where he shoots the guy under the table) and the other scene with the blue blazer in the restaurant. In terms of smart and casual styling this movie is so on point.
SNATCH you supost to watch when it came out already. immortal classic
The Van outside the pub delivering beer has Gritchie written on the side and is actually Guy Ritchies very own Brewery
Guy Ritchie along with Quentin tarantino are among the first directors to start at the end and go back to the beggining
Hell yeah great movie and love the reaction as always.
Appreciate you homie!!
