The only problem is that wherever she goes to live she will always see ghosts. This situation will continue no matter what she does.
They appear to have bought a new build house, so presumably not there...
She did find a ghost free place before.
The Button House guests became family, she will of course see ghosts wherever she is but she doesn't have to interact with them like she did.
@@ruthmeb ghosts are linked to land not the house. Given Britain length of habitation ghosts would be necessity be thick in the ground. Even with the low rate of turning ghosting whatever.

It was the only way the show could end. It was clear that Alison and Mike visited Button House from time to time for a catch-up. I liked the ending. I’ll just miss that show and the cast. Charlotte and Kiell’s hug on the final scene made me cry.

I loved it as well but they didn't explain how Alison could move from Button House and not see ghosts everywhere the way she did in the beginning when she was trying to make the doctor believe she saw ghosts and he told that he believed her because he was one and she saw them all the way home. If the situation cleared itself up, she would have stopped being able to see the ghosts at Button House too.

@@becsutherland4506 I don't know where you live but if you can catch the U.S. version of the show (it's not as good as the UK show but it's not that bad) and it may satisfy your "Ghosts" addiction. The actress who plays Alison's role is pregnant in real life so a baby might have to be written in sooner but the baby was the reason the ghosts decided it was time for Alison, Mike and Mia to leave. We're only going into Season 3 so it will be interesting what the writers decide to do.
We in the US milk shows much longer than the UK does lol so unless ratings tank they will keep it going much longer and wont use teh same ending @@debra2700
One of my favorite shows ever. There is magic in this team of people: true depth, compassion, genius, and humor. I hope to see them back together again on another project soon.
Devastated 😢 One of the best shows to ever come from the BBC. I will miss Robin the most. I will not think of the word Christmas without thinking of Robin's delivery of the word from now on. ❤
yeah was great show im a american i got vpn just so i could watch all seasons you should watch the american version lot of similarity to it you can tell they have more money spend on the show but both really good
I was devastated that they ended it this way and would have loved for them to stay. But I can how it was both a happy and a sad ending at the same time and made it a proper ending so we know that's it, it's over, it's done, no yearly specials.
We got a great show and it ended.
One of the best shows I've watched in a long time and it was great seeing the horrible histories crew back in action. So sad to see this show go but I'm glad it ended in such a heartwarming way ❤

Omg i agree.. i loved all the past episodes because they were so funny. I didnt find this funny. And the mike mom storyline made me dislike her and the storyline itself . and it was 75% of the episode. The writing in this storyline was not good.
She does end up seeing them again, though. She visits them at the hotel.
It is a show that I actually care about and can move me to tears. As an American, I only saw parts of it. But I will still cherish it. Thank You!!!❤❤❤
There's now an American made version
And in addition to the American version, CBS has been showing the UK version since this past November (on Thursdays, I think?) due to the writers' strike. Episodes are also available on the CBS streaming service, Paramount+.

You can see something like this on American TV. It is called Ghosts and is based on this UK version. It is very similar to this series , the characters are similar,not identical, and some not all of the U S version’s episodes are based on this version. It is just coming back for the 3rd season next month.
The ending was as real as life gets , we have to say goodbye to this world , and everybody we love one day , alison moving on in her life and getting old was happy and sad at the same time , but i felt most for robin , he is forever stuck in this horrible cycle of loosing people he loves and cant do anything about it .
Robin is such a kind person, there's no way he wouldn't have been "sucked off" the way Mary and others were. Actually, none of them deserved to be stuck there for as long as they were.
Absolutely sobbed my eyes out at the ending. So beautiful and sad. :(

I just wish that maybe the last scene had been more than just the backs of Alison and Mike walking into the room, but rather seeing in the room and the ghosts there welcoming, not just the voices.
Yes, but it might not feel like a goodbye to revisit them after an emotional farewell directed at the viewers. I realised that Alison names only a few of the ghosts after returning to Button House, leaving you to wonder if some have moved on.

I cried becuase
1. The ending was sad
2. The best show I will ever watch is over
Ghosts I've seen it in 2021, when it started 2019. But I'm going to miss that show when they say goodbye, after the ghosts have been reunited with Alison and Mike many years ago.
It’s been about 18 hours since I watched this. Didn’t see it coming and what an incredible ending.
Love this show so much! Stinks it’s ending.
At least they gave it a proper end unlike most shows where they abruptly end and stay in limbo.
I loved this cast in the show Horrible Histories.
I don't understand why there moving because no matter where she goes she will still see Ghost. And they love her. But I know all things come to an end. Just sad. Well I can still watch reruns. Good bye everyone. Thank you for the smiles and laughter. I'll miss you. ❤🎉

It's saddening that it ended. And they really made it to a point that it's over. Grateful as this show made my pandemic lockdown experience bearable. I wish they made the last episode a it longer because it felt rushed.

end of an era.
I’m in the US, and I’ve only seen the first 3 seasons on Max. They moved it to Paramount Plus when CBS started airing the UK series during the writers’ strike. Unfortunately, they only aired the first 2 seasons, which are the only ones that are on P+ now. I’m hoping someone can get the entire series so I can finally finish this once and for all.
I had to purchase the rest of the seasons of the UK version on Amazon Prime.

I was kinda hoping for a little bit of pushback but Alison was like "ok then see ya suckers." 😅 harsh.
Well, they still had financial problems in the previous episodes, which isn't the most ideal situation for a new mother to be in.
@ThePrincessCH totally get that but the show should have highlighted that and the house as the problem, instead they focused in on they ghosts being annoying rather than the reason Alison actually wanted to stay.

They do! The end of the show saw Alison booking a room there once it’s been converted into a fancy hotel. She’s about 60yrs old at that point!
A logical end. Go out with us wanting more. A great series this has been.

I agree. I have watched a lot of English comedies that I really liked. I love the American version of ghosts. The English version is badly cast, badly costumed, slow moving plot, and just boring.

Well that or the reality is cast is on a timer.
There is an innate flaw when a select part of a cast is immortal or unchanging.
Example they would have to switch out plague girl with look alikes every few years

And in the American version, there is a motorcycle ghost which is almost never shown

I never saw the series, but when US version came out, I watched the first season and saw comments where people talked about the UK version being better.
I wondered why they hated on US version, eventually binged all 5seasons of UK Ghosts, and Damn I have laughed, cried and fell in love with UK version so so much
I would have preferred they left it as they'd ended the series. That was a lovely ending. The ending for the Christmas special was terrible and I don't understand why they did it.

I didn’t know this was a British show first until seeing this clip.
I originally saw the American version of Ghosts and enjoyed its character and charm. However when ABC (Australia) began screening the original BBC Ghosts, I was curious to see why so many people said that the BBC version was better. I think the difference for me is the BBC version's authenticity and depth, its' bitter sweet nature contrasting wonderfully with the expertly written and delivered lines, which makes it so much more hilarious. I still enjoy the US version (also excellent actors and scripts) but the BBC original makes me feel an intensity of emotions from joyous to deeply sad. For me, everything about BBC Ghosts is perfect, including the cast and the finale.
I don't watch this version, however, when he said "I feel christmassy" I thought for a second there, they were gonna show him going up the "tunnel/sucked off" as the other show (USA) puts it.
I was hoping that visiting the house when they were old Mike would die there and able to see the ghosts.

One issue is that Alison indulged them from the beginning. Setting up books for them, turning on tv shows, giving Julian access to a computer or iPhone etc, so they got used to that. With a new house and new ghosts it would be easier to establish boundaries.

But even if a place has ghosts, it probably won’t be so many who need so much attention from her. If Button House just had the basement ghosts, she would have rarely ever seen them because they preferred to stay in the basement.
I hope one of the streamers brings this version of Ghosts to the US.
Oh... this is the UK version. Don't watch the US version consistently, but I did watch the free episodes of the first season. I thought these were new homeowners.
I was sorry they sold the house. It could be half rented out, sell that part of the land for another business, but leave something in the family that could bring money. But the main thing is that now the fate of the house does not depend on them, maybe new ouners come to demolish it, but there are ghosts, in general, there is a sad feeling of their doom, no one sees them anymore, no one will talk to them. I hoped to the last that the guys would finally get down to business and start making a hotel. And their heirs will also see ghosts and be friends with them. I like English ghosts, as characters, more American, and I'm sad for such an end...

What happen to mike/ alison daughter at ending?did older mike alison have great grandchildren?Will their daughter see ghosts as well?
The UK version is so much more subtle than the US version. For example the show makes it clear that the captain is gay, but there is so much more to his character and we find out slowly throught the show, meanwhile the captain hides his past and keeps up his stoic military character.
In the US version Isaac is much more flamboyant and obvious it makes his character seem less complex. Whereas the captain had layers that are peeled back slowly throught the show.

Deeply sad, the BBC original Ghosts is over. Hopefully, the CBS American version goes beyond season 3. If it takes the same route as the BBC original, the house is big enough to have them stay and live in the resort or follow the story with someone new who can see the ghosts because of a hit to the head. Dint let CBS Ghosts get sucked off.
I ws disappointed with this episode. There should have been more time spent saying goodbye to the ghosts.
There was too much time focusing on the Mike's Mother storyline and the emotional ending seemed rushed.
But that's one small complaint from an otherwise excellent show. I'll rewatch all 5 series regularly. It seems daft but I'm gonna miss these characters

I've never even watched the American version because I'm too attached to the characters and would not stop comparing the US ones to them...
Can't wait till the final season gets to HBO... Where I discovered it...
Give our version a chance if you can. The characters are the same and it's going into the third season so it's highly popular here. I love your UK version so both worked well for me.
@@debra2700 I finally decided to give it chance and after a false star where I initially did not like it, I went back and now like it every bit as much as the UK version...
I'm still mad HBO Max hasn't posted the final seasons of it though... Actually I think both versions are on Paramount+ niow but only up to season 2 for the UK...
@@JaimeWulf I had to pay for the last three seasons of the UK version on Amazon Prime because after watching two seasons on Paramount + I was hooked. Isn't it frustrating to have to jump around for these shows and pay more money to see them? I'm so glad you like the U.S. version!

Wrong ending . I was disappointed by the Christmas special . Undid the last series and there was far too much of Mike’s mum and not enough of the ghosts .

Loved the show, HATED the way they ended it. This would be tantamount to throwing the ghosts into prison. "We're have a baby now, and we're having a hard time financially. So we're taking everything that made the afterlife bearable to you away!"
No more TV, no more Internet, no more smells, no more entertainment. Have "fun" for the next few decades until someone else turns it into a hotel.
Besides, no matter WHERE she goes, she'll be seeing ghosts. So she's choosing to abandon "her" ghosts for some random new ghosts?
No sorry, this was terrible writing. Didn't like the ending.
I think the point along the way was that Alison helped them transition into the 21st Century and their home being a hotel, Spa and golf course would have largely kept them entertained…but alas, it was sad to see such a heartwarming and funny show end.

I think the point is that both Betty and the ghosts had their own reasons for wanting to be so deeply involved in Alison and Mike's/the baby's lives, and it's not on the best interest of the new family. They're able to see that from the decision in S5E6 that Alison loves them as much as they do her, so (like with Mike's family) the ghosts can trust that them selling isn't going to be the end of their relationship.
There's no way A&M can afford to turn the house into a business that fully supports them all, and it's already very unfair to Mike that he can't engage with the ghosts, but how much worse would it be for the baby - especially dealing with coming to understand your mum can see and talk with ghosts but noone else can, and you can never tell anyone, 'cos they won't believe you. That's a lot to put on a small child!
I see it as they sell the estate, the golf company will get the place up and running fairly quickly (it was only going to take years for A&M to do it because they couldn't afford to hire the number of staff, etc, to do it quicker) and then the ghosts will have entertainment in the forms of both the builders and the guests/golfers. It's not the same as Alison, but we've seen them enjoy that before. Then most years Alison (& fam) can come and visit them, so it is still a family. Fanny is like a real mum, she gets to see Alison grow up enough to outgrow the family home and start her own, but she doesn't lose her. And being a golf place, they could potentially come for the of afternoon game as well, which is cheaper than it being only possible to see them if they book a suite.
But also, yes, it's very sad it all coming to an end, regardless of the quality of that ending. We all wanted more, but I think it's understandable that the team wanted to finish it while it was so high quality and popular, rather than risk not being able to keep up that standard. And knowing the 6 idiots they've probably got plenty of other ideas and projects they want to get working on

This was a very poor episode
Never seen the British version until now, it has warmth and depth like the American version that I love, I just wish they would keep their politics out of it and just make it for the entertainment and joy of everyone like TV used to be, but that seems impossible in Hollywood of today.

Ghosts was good but never great, which is why it never won a bafta for best scripted comedy. The problem I had was that the jokes were too tame. It's as if they didn't want to offend anybody, and when you take such an approach to comedy, your jokes will inevitably fail. 7/10
