That is absolutely fantastic, however I do have one constructive comment. Overlapping steps in the collectors are fine in one direction i.e. where the upstream pipe protrudes into the collector. However unless I missed you taking it out there is a step in the downstream side of the collector where the downstream pipe enters into the collector outlet rather than butting up to it. This made it far easier to get alignment to weld on the outlet tube and has worked in your favour....... For now, if you slice through the 2 collector outlet welds with your new "gizmo fantastico" or a slitting disc, you will be able to remove the mismatch with a rotary burr or grinding wheel so that the weld will go back together with no mismatch, (at the moment you have a bit of a CV (controlled vortex) as David Vizard caĺled them back in the 80's) but in the wrong direction .... a bit like a scoop facing into the flow. Please don't
think I am point scoring, but this wiĺl be really easy to correct at this stage to make it a pretty perfect performance enhancing part. Absolutely amazing technique you have used not to mention mastering the art of 3D printing. You have my utmost admiration. Reallybehjoyedcwatching this episode as per usual.

Takes me back to when I had to fabricate the same sort of exhaust for the Zetec conversion of my Lotus Elan Plus 2. The off the shelf ones available were done with the lowest pipes being the lowest part of the car. Thus hitting anything that looked like a bump in the road. After much fussing about, I was able to route them so they were now above the lowest point and a single unit, like yours, rather than the original two part style manifold from the twin cam. Was able to make them so installation and removal was just a slip in/out without having to manipulate any other part of the engine assembly. It was a time consuming process, but worth the effort. The exhaust was also stepped up in diameter in the manifold and from the last collector to its final end at the rear of the car. The ST170 was never available here in the US, only the 2, so no nice flange at the head. A separate manifold flange was availabe from Dunnell Enginering in the UK for a nominal cost, saving a whole bunch of time. A intake manifold was also available from same,, as the engine is equipped with Weber152G carbs.

    • @DavesGarageuk

You'll understand the effort then 😉
