bro,. awesome work and so much insight! Love the details you tell us at which focal length its balances well etc. I have the same setup, 4D with lots of sony lens and this has helped me understand so much and saved me so much time too
Exactly what I was looking for thank you! Was trying to find everywhere if the Sony 12-24 f2.8 GM would be too heavy… it’s 850g but you managed to balance the 85mm APO microphone which is 900mm with focus motor as well!!
Thanks for this video! It was very helpful! Please keep making more Ronin 4D videos. Have you played with the new firmware yet? I am getting really close to purchasing the Ronin 4d. Such a small world that I discovered this video first a few weeks ago while researching the 4d and then yesterday was introduced to you through Stanford Doc! Small world!
Great job! What mount are you using to get to EF? Also check out the Sony FE 28-60 kit lens - it's parfocal and no breathing and works without changing lens profile.
None of the lenses I own (Sony 20,28,35,50,85 and 28-60 need the big counterweight). And the 85mm is the hefty one. But the lidar always needs the lower counterweight. The 28-60 is quite light. It's only failing is its slow of course. You don't need a focus motor.
Great Video, you mention the SLR microprime lenses and I have a set of 4 e mount. Is there a trick on how to mount these that you know of? I have no problems with Sony & Sigma e mounts but I can't get theses SLR e mounts to lock.
Hello, since your review has been done a year ago, do you know if there are more lenses that have been test compatible with the Ronin 4D, lenses such as DZO Vespid cine Prime, Nisi Athena Cine Prime and more recent lenses in Canon et Sony ones ? It'd be great and helpful for me as I'm a recent owner of the Ronin 4D 8k and can't find updated tested lenses listed anyware. Pierre from Belgium
Hi , have you tried N/A profile instead of calibrating the focal lengths? Some say it's better on non linear focus by wire lenses like the tamron etc. I get good results but not perfect.
Great video! Are your onscreen graphics correct? The lens you don't recommend are all labeled as "A" in the video...which I believe should be "F" grade, no?
Hello. Thank you very much for taking the time to do these tests. I’m really on the fence of pulling the trigger on the 4D but I’m not sure yet if my Leica R set would work. Regarding your method I was wondering : did you shot any video test to furthermore judge the balance and the gimbal reaction on those setups or just jauge looking at the gimbal like we see on the video ? What E mount to EF adapter did you use and do you think that it could affect the communication issues you had ? Thank for responding.
Hi there, I've done extensive field testing with the lenses. What you see in the video is based off my set experience as well as what you see on camera. I use the Sigma E to EF mount adapter and it works great. I haven't used any Leica lenses on the Ronin, but they should work well--or even more reliably if they are all manual lenses because you won't run into any software compatibility issues.
@@danskerdane thank you for answering ! And thanks for doing those tests. There is not much infos regarding compatible lenses and your work does help people like me.
The Tamron 28-75 balances nearly flawlessly on the Ronin. You don't even need the large counterweight (but you do need to use the included smaller counterweight)
This video did nothing for me at all. I’m usually not critical, but it made no sense to do a bunch of EF lenses that they don’t make an amount for. Why would I want to see a bunch of EF lenses when they are so many sigma and SamYang, tamarin etc lenses that have e-mounts? And other mounts that didn’t make DJI’s list. This was a complete waste
This was very informative and useful! I'd love to see more compact cine lenses mounted on the 4D though many are heavy. Thanks for making this 🙌🏾
I've tried the SLR Magic APO Microprimes cine lenses. They are quite heavy, but handle just fine on the Ronin.

Did you use the expensive counterweight with all of these lenses?
Thanks for this video!
JUST the video I was looking for with my plethora of Sony lenses. Thanks!
DANE! Awesome video. Keep it up. Ya gotta reply back to your audience through bud. Interaction is half the game!
Purchasing the 4d 8K… and all its accessories from Pictureline. Live in Sandy. Cheers.
Can you add a link for the DL to Ef mount?
??
Great & informative video! Thank you!!!

Hi, I wonder how to put Canon lenses (EF lens mount) to Ronin4D. Is there any mount adapter for EF lens to dl mount?
Hi Dane, great video! You may want to try the counterweight when using heavy lenses, it gives you more stabilized images.
Thanks for the reminder! I actually always have the larger X9 counterweight on the R4D, but totally forgot to mention that in the video.
Great job! What mount are you using to get to EF?

That's great to know! Being able to zoom without changing lens profile sounds amazing.
@@danskerdane yes, was a lucky accident as I got the lens with the Sony A7C and just tried it.
Hey Tyrone ,
Do you need a counterweight at back ( not small one ) and the focus motor to make the 28-60 work ?

Incredibly helpful info! Can’t thank you enough! Quick question: on the Sony 24-70 G II does the autofocus perform well?
What mount . Nex.or.canon

With the new Sony 24-70 GM II, did you have to use counterweights? And did you have to rebalance when going from 24-70?
Will the 12-24 2.8 GM work???
has anyone tried the either of the wide sigma art zooms in e-mount? Wondering about the 14-24 and 24-70

Hello dear, I would like to ask you whether the Sony 50mm F2.8 lens or the DJI 50mm F2.8 lens is better, with respect Naimi
Great video, thank you. 😊
How are you connecting the canon lenses to the Ronin?
Thanks!
By using the Sigma MC-11 adapter converting the Canon EF to Sony E-Mount and then using the Ronin E-mount adapter.
Would you happen to know of any optically stabilized lens (OSS) that are recently compatible with the ronin 4D?

@@danskerdane Thanks for taking the time to answer this, feels great to have the confidence to get that lense, much appreciated
the most interesting lense here should be cine lens like dzo
Tamron 70-180 require a counterweight?
Question: which adapter are you using to mount the canon lens?
The Sigma MC-11 adapter to convert the Canon EF to Sony E-Mount and the Ronin E-mount adapter.
Has anyone out there tried the rokinon cine lenses with their camera?
Hi Dane ,
Was that a Canon 50 mm 1.2 L lens with the sigma MC 11 ef to e mount adapter… you said worked flawlessly?
Thank you
Yes, he used the Sigma MC-11 adapter with the Ronin E-mount adapter.
Great video. What adapter were you using for Canon 50 1.2? Thanks!
Sigma MC 11 Mount converter Canon EF to Sony E
@@danskerdane thanks.
If like to see some anaphoric test if you get the chance.
really good video, thanks for that. will be continnued ? :)
Could you put subtitules in spanichs to this video my english is to bad
What accessory are you using to mount the EF lens on the Ronin 4D?
The Sigma E to EF mount adapter. And I have the E mount for the Ronin 4D.

I'm gonna try it.

Ronin 4d Is not steadicam! No good
No one said it was steadicam. Correct It is not good. It is a great camera system.
