@@arthurpeterson246 my grandfather was a prospector in between the world wars. I grew up on tales of the Lost Dutchman's mine here in Arizona. And stories of finding rich ore all throughout the SW (mostly exaggerated stories for a child, but still 😉). But he was an actual miner and I have even seen our last name written in carbide in one of the mine exploring videos on YT. Mevis isn't a very common name, so it was a curious surprise for sure!
But I remember having an oId dry washer setup from pre WWII and a wet washer from the 1910's, repurposed planks and all, in my backyard. That was in the early 80's and sadly I don't have them anymore. But these stories do bring back good memories!

I hate to say this .....but I spent time a kid about hour and half drive from Forestburg and never even knew this existed until this summer when I was driving by from my trip out to Nordegg and Cadomin.
Thanks for watching today. Always appreciate you stopping by.

Very cool, nice history of the coal mining in Alberta, Old Man. I just watched another one the other day, in which you were driving around some coal towns, I believe. I think I forgot to comment on that one, though.

Thanks for showing Canada some interest. Lots of coal in south east Saskatchewan too. Also lots of goldmine history in northern Saskatchewan.
