I studied in Chemnitz between 2011-2015. I always had the feeling things are changing for the better there, it's always been a city in progress. European city of culture 2025 will definitely enhance the progress.
I also met many Indian students back then and was partying together with them.
    Good memories 😊

You continue to set the bar high, I'm genuinely spellbound by your video! - "Obstacles serve as stepping stones to growth."

I was in Chemnitz 2 years ago with my wife for a weekend, nice town, i did not see neonazis, but we saw lots of muslim migrants in the city center when we took a walk in the city. We saw how they were aggressive and sometimes harassed some random people on the street. And the police did not do nothing.
Anyway, it seemed to me that Chemnitz was a sad city where time had stood still since the breakup of the GDR. Unfortunately, the Muslim migrants who were resettled in the spirit of Willkommenskultur are not benefiting the city.

@mojzivotjenovival7789 why do you lie! are you German, or do you speak German? I don't think so. You are just making a story up to spread hate.

From India to Chemnitz, two places can't be more different than that!

I hear "You speak German well!" often and I always take it as a compliment, especially because I worked hard to learn the language. But I can understand the feeling might be different if a person was born in Germany but does not look German.

I would visit the castles in the nearby area. The train connections are good. One works in Chemnitz though the City is known for its cultural events.

Well, you guys tried to show the city in a positive light. Chemnitz, your reputation precedes you. It seems that this report is sponsored by the city to attract international (Indian?) students.
Rent is low because no one wants to live there. It's one of the most segregated cities in Germany. As a student experiences of xenophobia, hostility and coldness where people distance themselves from you, will rock you to your core. And of course, I'm only naming the negatives, the city has a lot to offer too.
I'm glad I left Chemnitz after two years. In my experience it's a miserable rotting soulless city with quite a few miserable people who carelessly spread their misery. I applaud all those who are putting in the work to color the city with culture. Maybe in the future it develops into a place with real community and culture.

I like it how compliments are now racist :))

    • @berlinorama

It isn't necessarily racist as such, but if you grew up or were even born in Germany and are constantly being told how well you speak German (because you don't "look German") it can be very exhausting and make you feel like you don't belong. That is the point she was making, I think.

@@berlinorama :) To me she doesn't look "foreign", as in non european.
Sure, even so. that person was trying to make her a compliment, it was not "a jab" against her ethic background.
And "you talk *my language well", is a pretty common thing that people hear and say.

That is her perception of it, because of her specific case surrounding her background/upbringing. It's not universally considered racist to compliment people on their language skills!
PS- It's unfortunately on the much much much milder side of what one might experience in Chemnitz

@@berlinorama Lol, I would be glad and I know that I don't belong here. Especially in the UK even if I grew up here as I know that I am foreigner.

Foreigners shouldn't complain about small things like getting compliments. As a foreigner, as long as no one asks me to take part in a group shower and disinfection, I'm good😅

Well, you guys tried to show the city in a positive light. Chemnitz, your reputation precedes you. It seems that this report is sponsored by the city to attract international (Indian?) students.
Rent is low because no one wants to live there. It's one of the most segregated cities in Germany. As a student you are training to be a highly skilled worker, and so experiences of xenophobia, hostility and coldness where people distance themselves from you, will rock you to your core. I was personally in the radical szene, but I understand why someone moderate might feel alienated when everyone around them seems to be so extreme in their views.
I'm glad I left Chemnitz after two years, I live in NRW now. In my experience it's a miserable rotting soulless city with quite a few miserable people who carelessly spread their misery. I applaud all those who are putting in the work to color the city with culture. Maybe in the future it develops into a place with real community and culture.
And of course, I'm only naming the negatives, the city has a lot of positive aspects too.
