I don't understand that notion about lucian dash speed, never compared its speed to other dashes. Every other dash just felt unique, not worse, I respected the design instead of complaining that this or that champion had faster dash.
I can end this whole argument by saying what about vayne who had more mains than Lucian and people/ probs especially back then preferred vayne over Lucian 1:43 when he says why would ppl want to play another character when they certainly did they wanted to play vayne and her tumble not really a “dash” but both are kiting mobility tools with low cooldowns
Vayne tumble makes you invisible during ult and makes your next auto really chunky, that's it's own form of "feel good". Have you played much Kaisa? Even that tiny duration stealth on E feels amazing in team fights and duels.
Champs with skill shots or slow ones feel so useless if you are decent at a certain champ, Katarina is annoying and in a way "not balanced" but she isn't broken, but good Kata players are nearly impossible to hit, without a reset she lacks alot of damage as she either has to dash in or out or needs a team to troll just standing on a dagger, happens in teamfights but in a 1 v 1 nearly impossible to do. But for lucian its core to his hit, he dashes to deal more damage with his passive and usual PTA, it's almost always up and any champ that needs to rely on hitting a skill shot can't do anything if someone has decent reactions even if they are ahead, Agust actually admits to the idea of power creep atleast in dashes, for immobile champs like Nasus they have to give him an absurd slow, double the stacks, 50% armor pen, just to keep up with modern champs making Nasus feel overtunned if you dont have those tools. Master YI, gets a Q in which he can go in 360 directions, a W that makes him basically invincible instantly even outhealing damge without grevious if it is upgraded second and insane AA range for a champ that's core kit is AA'ing. Tryndamere also gets this same treatement with aburd AA'ing for a champ that's core kit is just AA'ing. Power creep is obvious, but they can't change mobility in this game so they removed Tenacity tree for Ability haste tree, and the more ability haste you have it gives you more options for CC'ing and damage, I understand metas to keep the game fresh but sometimes the balancing is just not there, ADC's who are supposed to have flaws by being immobile but have mobility are obnoxious, Vayne is not even a good bot laner with her kit, she is a save, lane bully, scalling, ranged top
Bruh adc are not supposed to be inherently immobile they are trading stuff for mobility. And Lucian cannot perma dash till late game where he is you know.... Bad
Lucians E is a dash... and has like 300 unit range.... yes its not lovely to have a mobility spell on an ADC.... buuuuutttt.... look at tristana, she gets a flash for a dash even if its slower.... look at zeri she gets to do k'sante ult as a basic cooldown mobility option through and along walls... Dont get me started on powercreep cause lucian probably has the 1 and only balanced free aim dash in the game left....

Phreak’s work on K’Sante has got to be his biggest failure as a designer. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate him publicly apologizing for it, but right now the champ is the most frustrating to play against in the entire game while being the lowest winrate. Unfortunately there’s not many things they could change about him to lower frustration that wouldn’t also make him feel much worse to play.
The changes are good, issue is you got "anchored" to the old version like August explains here. It's a pure feels downgrade, but it should never have been there in the first place. He had way too many true combos/confirms.
Yea, no kidding. Because nobody at riot games understands power creep, we ended up with a significantly worse game, made up of layers on top of layers of bandaids. "Well to balance Lucian e, we just give everyone the same or better dashes or 1000% move speed to compensate.
So Riot identifies a problem, and then allows the champion to be strong for a long period of time, then decides the clear solution is to change the entire game to compensate for that one champion… Does their balance team good off and play league all day? Actually I guess league is probably the last game they are playing.
It's really cool how you completely missed the point, and don't understand reflecting on mistakes is a good thing for future design choices. If you don't know anything about game dev, as you clearly don't, you should stay quiet or risk looking very silly.
What point did I miss? They set themselves up for failure by ignoring a fundamental rule when balancing a game. Especially for something as established as league (MoBa). You should never change the game/environment to cater to a specific champion/addition, unless that champion/addition is going to be the focus of the game. I understood this concept balancing a wc3 MOBA as a 14 year old with no prior game design history. It’s an incredibly simple concept that applies to any game. “Reflection” is only reflection when you actually analyze previous data and make changes to avoid making the same mistake. He acknowledges they potentially messed up with Lucian, but clearly there was no “reflection” if they’re still making the same mistake with newer champions. The concern is that they’re stating they are reviewing the game and previous issues/designs, but continue to make the same mistakes and horrible design. They either are not reflecting, or truly don’t understand what they’re doing.
Ah yes, I didn't know that August was solely responsible for making all of League of Legends. Shit I guess that does mean all the problems are directly his fault. Also I didn't know that the relatively inexperienced team who ended up making Lucian were 200000iq giga brain developers who could easily see this coming from a mile away and still chose to do it. God this is why the majority of the League community shouldn't be taken seriously when talking about the game.
