@Nicholas Jordan Is it not the goal of every UA-camr to gain a following? To gain views? Look at everyone you watch. Most likely, they use clickbaity tactics as well, whether it be enticing thumbnails or titles specifically designed to draw you in. The simple fact is that it's impossible to prevent clickbaiting, because if everybody went into this without the intent to gain a following, nobody would have a following. That's just how it is.

Audiophiles call it “Golden Ears”. You either have it or you don’t. Some people can hear the difference of quality between a good or bad sound system. Some people couldn’t care less and think they’re all sound the same. It’s kind of like musicians born with perfect pitch or a trained ear through practice. Hey this is nothing compared to how much audio equipment used to cost back in the 80's. People with barely enough to get buy living pay check to pay check would have these really nice 2000 to 3000 dollar audio decks. It was like you barely had enough money to put food on the table but you always had something nice to listen to get you by.
Right, and $2000 was worth a lot more back in those days.
If I'm being honest, that doesn't sound like a particularly good thing.
This was my dad. Aiwa, Sony, Technics...
Are you sure? Because the combined MSRP of my entire HK rack was about $800 in the mid 80s. A lot of that stuff costs significantly more now than it did when it was new. I mean, my mom has a set of Infinity speakers and a Pioneer turntable that she bought in college with fast food restaurant wages in the late 70s and still had enough to pay rent, put gas in her car, buy weed, AND pay all of her college tuition and not take out loans. Sure the turntable alone is worth $600 now but back then it was...well, not cheap, but nowhere near $3000, her V8 Duster wasn't even that much.
@@CyberdyneSystemsSkynet The receiver alone was $1000, turntable $500, 4, 2 foot cabinet speakers with tweeters mid range and low range $1000, dual tape deck, and equalizer don't forget the pre-amp. Sony sells there newest receiver for $2000 or more now a days HK is low end stuff.

gotta have every track in pure wav format or a shure rep will kill you with a shovel
glad to see shure still pushing on with advancements in tech, I remember when the e500 in ears came out and I had 2 pairs both of which suffered cracking cases and hardening wires that split, the sound was shures typical warm signature with the best mids in the industry, so rich in sound. then they dropped the se500 and se535 which I had next with no cracking cables or shells but the armatures would rattle with deep bass at higher volumes even tho it was the same e500 setup. I hated that so brought the sony mdr ex1000's which were significantly more expensive but my gosh they sounded amazing even going back to traditional drivers, even then and at that price there was sibilance in the highs. at this time a few years back I was totally and completely addicted to headphones and head-fi.org, I went through an unprecedented amount of in ears, westone w40's, UE triple fi 10's to custom ultimate ears like ue10pro's, thankfully I got married, had kids and left headphones behind in exchange for pc gaming lol

frequency response is not a number, its a graph
ideally, a perfectly linear frequency response is a number. not that we will ever be able to reach that, but still.
@YourMomDotCom19 but how well on each frequency? That's why
Just like age.
@YourMomDotCom19 not, i'm just saying that if humanity could ever be able to make a consumer product with perfectly linear frequency response over all audio range (say 1HZ to 100KHz) it could be described with a single number like: "0 rollover over all frequencies" or "10dB/mV in the full frequency range at max volume" or something like that, drawing a graph would be pointless.
of course we will not reach that.
@@noname_atall Actually frequency response is commonly specified like this 40 - 22000 Hz +/- 4 dB. However in case if any type of headphones it doesn't make any sense to specify it like that. Graph would be much more useful, but most brands don't provide them. You can find some tests and they look just like Sennheiser IEMs, nothing special. I have an LG V20, with a "quad-dac", also a FiiO X1 + FiiO Q1 combo. what's special about the FiiO X1 is that is has a "line out" output option, which is a very high level signal, used for being transmitted between audio devices. It's better to do all the processing on this signal - amplification, effects etc. Your mobile doesn't have the option of getting the line out signal on the headphone jack.
Exactly. Ex V40. Or even the good ol' HTC 10. Audio specs and perfs are essentially the same thing.
Just buy a media player, you won't get decent audio out of cell phones or tablets.
I still have a V20 and its sound quality is great. Before I got my amp, it was the best way to get the most out of each and every one of my headphones (it can even drive my 300Ω HD 6XX!). Here's one thing to keep in mind, if you're looking for an on-the-go solution, there will be noise almost wherever you are, so you better opt for ANC, like the B&W PX (haven't tried it, but I heard it's good), as shown in this video or Sennheiser's PXC-550 (my pick out of the ANC headphones bunch) and save your money to buy the expensive stuff for home listening, where you can take the time to enjoy your music without as much interference from the external world.

Be careful with those Mpow headphones. They are good but the reds I know come in at least two different sizes that they don't tell you (At least on Amazon when I bought them.)
One is a good adult size, and the other is a ear crushing small that looks like it was meant for a child... Unfortunately I got the latter and didn't even realize they had different sizes until buying my sister a pair.
Wow thanks for this comment. I was considering getting myself a pair.
@@DucktorQuackers, they are good mind you. Just they need to be the bigger ones unless you have a particularly small head.
And i thought my 60€ jbl earbuds were pricey
Ha same
Jbl is not that high of quality, it's good, but u pay more for the brand, u can get better quality from sony, shure, sennheiser, pioneer, for almost the same price
There's a reason I bought the cheapest ones on the rack. I'm cheap and my job involves getting covered in gross things.
@@goodrobot1 the ones that i carry around usually are just the ones that came with my cellphone
the lowest end of Shure's earbud product is more expensive than yours
As a person that loves great audio, I enjoyed this video a lot.
I wouldn’t carry all this stuff around though. Not worth it! I’ll stick to playing FLAC files on the home stereo. Thank you, Shure and Linus Media Group.
DACs in modern phones are actually quite powerful, S9+ and V35 are some good examples
did linus forget that you can get a high res dac dongle for any phone?
It isn't. Even in premium phones its worse than cheap portable dac. Yes Im talking about older LG where you had to pay premium for that
It looks like a friggin Sony Walkman!
Believe it it's happening
looks like a walkman for your phone lul
Linus a guy with probably the best access to any phone he wants, still rocking the note 9 to this day
Me: mom can I have these headphones on Amazon I know there a bit expensive
Mom: nonsense I’ll be the judge of that prob $10...... (faints)
Dad:what happen (looks at screen) faints
Hey Linus!! I'm so glad you mentioned the IBM drone giveaway in your previous video, I actually won one!
Thank you so much
Brezii is it better than the mavic pro 2?
@@dragonwithak6051 no haha, it's their $100 version with a 720p camera. Still amazingly cool
@@Nope-un6yy Congrats! Winning a prize is always awesome!

Proble with electrostatics and the reason why they aren’t used all that much is they suck for low end frequency response. That’s the reason why people love the Sheour Tapes as they have an electrostatic and a dynamic driver to make up for the electrostatics sub par bass response
So we need a headphone jack on our phone for this?
No. as he pointed out in the video - there is a DAC in your phone, but it's of "low" quality so pairing it with headphones that cost more then twice the price of your complete phone would be useless, since the quality of your audio would be bad before it gets to the amp. The amp can't make audio better than how it comes in.
I seriously can't believe that
I can't beliebe you've done this
The “aviation” connector is mainly used to make musical instruments connect to an amp or mixer wirelessly. It’s usually a quarter-inch cable to a wireless transmitter using the connector Linus was talking about.Thought I would tell you that ways you know for next time.
