● We all know that the Porsche 991 GT2 RS is one hell of a fast car, but I didn't expect it to be that FAST! In this video you'll see the GT2 RS drag racing head to head against some of the most powerful and expensive hypercars out there during the Supercar Owners Circle SOC 2019 event at Ambri airport.

I will own the GT2 RS one day. This car is just amazing. I know the cars he was up against didnt have good drivers, but that doesnt change the fact, that this car is truly incredible!

Alcantara Interior are the other drivers reving from neutral like the Porsche. If you are not driving a manual shift that can make the difference. Launch control must be activated.

Also the fastest veyron (becouse it has a lot of variants) can do the 1/4 mile in 9.9 sec while the gt2 rs is at 9.4 sec. Most of the hypercar driver just don't have the balls to thrust mode their car manually.
The P1 humbled the Porsche and so did the Regera but that car is insane how much it gapped the other contenders.

The engine over the rear wheels results in a lot of traction tho, combine that with a great PDK gearbox and a lot of power and torque and you have a drag strip winner!
Neither is the 720s, and the 720s is also a track weapon and comfier on normal roads. the 720S LT version will blow the Porsche off around a track. 720s is faster off the line with a good driver.

ViShnu VJN - Bikes For now, but I’m sure the GT3 RS will be worth more than the GT2 RS in the future because while it may only have 520hp vs the GT2 RS’s 700hp, the loud exhaust note of the 9000rpm natlurally aspirated engine found in the GT3 RS is extremely desirable since NA engines are only getting rarer in the modern era as turbos continue to take over more and more engines including the one used in the GT2 RS, and both cars are track-focused.

If that 720S actually used launch control, he would've creamed the 911. A number of these wins are down to the fact that other faster cars were being let down by their drivers. Credit to the GT2RS and its pilot though

@@ethanbakker5246 Let's compare the specs on paper. McLaren 720S: 710bhp, 568lb/ft, 3140lbs or so and a 7-speed DCT. GT2RS: 700bhp, 553lb/ft, 3240lbs or so and a 7-speed DCT. Despite the Porsche's 0.2-second edge over the McLaren to 60mph, the McLaren still has a better quarter mile time. The numbers just add up for the 720S, and after seeing what it's capable of, I highly doubt this Porsche, amazing though it may be, can dust a 720S.

Only the LaFerrari, the P1, The 918 and the Chiron can match a Porsche off the line. The 720S can't, the Senna totally can't. Even the Regera can only just stay on its tail with a proper launch. I'm surprised even the brutally launching AWD lambos couldn't keep up either.

The driver is what makes it for me here, cause we’ve seen countless videos of 720s’ beating GT2rs in drags yet the only McLaren that beat this GT was a P1 on that day, the drivers of some of those cars where just not the type to know or care probably about racing their HyperCars at full chat
An AWD on the GT2RS would make it too heavy. Because it is built for track use the RWD is the best solution. Every modern race car has RWD.

The GT2 RS does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds or less and produces the same amount of power as a 720S if not more, so it's perfectly capable of beating it. And the Veyron was just launched poorly. Porsche's are notoriously easy to launch, so that's a big part of it.

That Porsche defies the laws of physics. Theoretically it should have lost most of those races due to: weight, horsepower, drag coefficient. But it still won except against the Regera and the P1. Plus it did so many launches and still took it like a champ.
That is engineering in the God level.

@@RetrETH I didn't say that at all. I'd be curious to know if many of these folks actually drive their cars on any good road courses, and if they know how to drive them. Mostly when I see these they're just doing drag pulls or going to car shows..
The point is you could build a drag specific car that would obliterate most of these expensive toys, for a relatively modest amount of money, if you want to go really fast in the 1/4 or 1/2 mile.
Its good that the Volkswagen Group isn't mandating that there be a performance hierarchy amongst their cars and brand. If Porsche wants to build a car faster than Lamborghinis and Borgattis, then they should be able to do so. This is what allowed Buick to build a GNX in 1987 that was faster than the 1987 Corvette. Bravo to allowing freedom of creativity.

Off the line nothing matches the Gt2 RS even though the veyron and the pagani drivers were poor. The Koeniggsegg overtook it half way down and so did the black Mclaren P1 near the end of the video I think.

My first Porsche was a 1971 911S ,,, I was totally converted as if Porsche was a religion. I quit going to church on Sundays. I would accept all challengers on the Autobahn including curious Polizi or the POLICE which were cool about it. The car had no rattles or vibrations at all, my first time driving on the Cobblestone streets in Frankfurt Germany opened my eyes,,, not a single rattle and made me very confident in this solid car. I drove it from Hanau to Bremerton and my top speed on the Autobahn was 141 MPH and it tracked super straight and held its own superbly on the turns. That was in 1976, the German enthusiasts were telling me, Porsche would rule the sports car world in the future. Well, they did win Lemans and me, to me its as close to perfect as you can get. I paid 8000.00 for it in 1975, sold it for 100,000.00 in 2012.

because the Aventador is much much older, and pagani drivers are probably being carefull...
@@jared1527 And yes, its 90% the gearbox fault... its probably the only supercar that still had a single clutch gear box. when it came out, it was one of the fastest cars with impressive drag times, nowdays, its "slow" compared to cars with gearboxes 300% faster.
The Huracan Performante has less power and can beat an Aventador SV, simply because of the gearbox being a DCT.
These 991 GT2RS, just like the Turbo S in the 991.2 Porsche family are great at launching. (A) they can do it all day. (B) they are not too fuzzy about the street surface. (C) they can put up a good fight on the top end vs cars built more for top end. (D) can be driven daily - rain or shine. (E) they can do it all...not great at one thing, but good at everything.
Some people think they are plain looking and boring, but they can run hard all day for years and years and easier/cheaper to maintain vs those shown in this video.
I'm sure more positives can be added, or perhaps negatives but regardless, these Porsches are no joke.

P1 smokes just about anything in a 0-300 kilometres per hour drag (186mph) 16 seconds just to put it into perspective how quick that is it’s the same as an S1000rr or Kawa H2 super bike

Honestly: I not really necessary to be a especially skilled driver in order to launch a GT2RS properly. The launch control does everything for you in a perfect manner. You just have to keep your right foot down all the time. The real hero’s are the guys who made the setup for this system!
