I remember this, the comic actually made the news and nine year old me didn't believe it.
I cried.
You and me both I wasn't myself after this and then this is a lesson people to never take nothing for granted, I've always appreciate what this character has done for me and my life

No it hasn't. The Avengers soundtrack is very distinct and very classy, ESPECIALLY compared to Marvel films not scored by Alan Silvestri, while we're at it since it uses actual classic instrumentation. Thank you Alan Silvestri and your love of brass.
One of my favorite parts of this arc was in the lead up to it. Superman had expressed doubt about his bravery to Lois. After saving people from a fire (I think, going on memory here) he said to her that he wasn't sure he would be as brave as a firefighter if he wasn't invulnerable, if he knew he could be really hurt. Would he still be brave without his powers? So, when he goes back into the fight even knowing Doomsday could kill him he was answering his own questions about himself.

+Comicstorian Batman's death to Darkseid was better in my opinion. Both were fake outs but that double page spread of Batman taking the hit from the Omega Sanction tips the scales.

@@TTastic-pb5nt But they are weaker than the main versions. By a lot. We got Discount versions of the OG JL and that was a major factor on why he died. Maxima = Wonder Woman, Gardner = Hal, Beetle = Batman, Bloodwyne = MM

This changed my life.
Italy, early 90s, a couple of nerds working at Play Press (Italy) translated and published in Italian this pop masterpiece of a now-gone era. Me and my best friend, both 9 years old, bored in the hot summer of the Italian Adriatic coast, we found all the published issues of La Morte Di Superman in a local, tiny newspaper store. We didn’t know much about comic books at that time.
Since the day we put our hands on La Morte Di Superman, we become obsessed with comics, mangas, illustrations, videogames, action figures, comic conventions and all that.
Almost 30 years after here we are: the best friend lives in Milan, being a product designer for a worldwide famous architecture firm and I ended up in LA designing movies and enjoying painting as much as I can.
This is the America that I remember and that I’m thankful for. ❤️

+Amiibo Trainers Well not really. I mean when you think about it it really isn't that good of a story. A random brute shows up, superman fights him, and they kill eachother. Its not a very compelling or interesting story; its really lacking in depth.

MonteCreations Well Doomsday is slowly built up, and we learn about his creation and how he has been killed and resurrected numerous times after being born.
Zack Snyder and Warner Brothers WISHES their movie was half as thrilling and enthralling as Benny's narration.

i remember when this first came out,i was so in shock by what happened and what dc did that i completely began to stop reading anymore comics by dc. i will forever remember this. plus i actually cried over this when i first read it. it was very sad.

+Ayiz A Yes actually the League and the Avengers used to be considered where they would put superheroes that couldnt support their own comics. Eventually someone at both companies decided it made more sense to put all the big timers on it to sell the book better

Batman was part of the JL at this time, however this story took place during the time Bats got his back broken by Bane and was missing in the Knightfall comic. This is why he didnt help.

The 90s had barely begun with this released. It was certainly a big moment but as anyone not naive (FYI I was naive) already knew Supes would be back sooner or later. ;)
I remember this. I also remember the return of every version of Superman they could think of. They had the big moment, and then made it mean absolutely nothing. I understand bringing him back, but I thought having 42 different versions of Supes running around going "I'm Superman" "No I'M Superman" was dumb as hell.

This means that Doomsday is the Ultimate villain. He beat Superman, I mean....GOD! To death with his bare hands. Evil versions of Batman couldn't do it, Apocalypse couldn't do it, hell not even Lex Luthor didn't do it. To say that Lex can do it, he should have just done it anyway cause once you get rid of Superman, the world is Fucked.

This comic was freaking crazy! I mean, it was so brutal seeing the most powerful Superhero get thrown around watch him slowly die. His costume started ripping to shreds, and his iconic cape was barely recognizable! I gotta admit, it was almost scary! But man, this was really strong and it’s quality was awesome!

Honestly, Doomsday wasn't what I wanted him to be in BvS, but i really appreciate how they made Doomsday still resemble Zod.
A pity the Pocket Universe Superboy had died before this, what with him being as powerful as the Golden Age Superboy he'd have been more than capable of handling Doomsday.

please stop using the phrase "with all of his might" "with all that he has" etc etc. you made the term meaningless because it's the only term you use
What makes this comic strong is how over time (100s of comics), we got the opportunity to enjoy Superman’s origins, learn his personality, and connect to his character, only to see one of the most recognizable, heroic, and powerful superhero slowly get beat to death! It made it scary, and since we loved the character so much, we were sad and sympathetic for our hero, yet impressed with the comic book. In the movie, we saw his death, and felt none of these. The comics earned The Death of Superman, and the movie did not.
Found out about this channel not to long ago. I got to say I love it. I have recommended it to all my friends. Keep up the good work!

This is why Snyder is kind of a hack when it comes to comic book movies. He knows what events were big, but he doesn't get why they were loved.
