My office window overlooked MNS yard in Golden Valley, now closed, so I was able to watch their operations for over 20 years. PGR still runs thru my home town of Richfield to service the cement plant in Minneapolis.
How neat FOR a Shortline to Advertise on top of that beautiful depot you filmed..Your videos do a nice job Showcasing this Shortline to. Future rail Customers in God Prayers
The faribault segment was amazing. I used to bike alongside, climb on that 44 tonner and play around on it with my father when I was little kid, lots of good memories around that area and only saw the thing move 2 or 3 times in my life. So seeing footage of the 44 tonner in action means a lot me. I gotta purchase this disc asap
Thank you very much! We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed the video. PGR had quite the interesting roster of locomotives during that era. We appreciate the comment.
I remember seeing those STWX woodchip cars here in Rimouski and Riviere-Du-Loup around 2010, only saw them twice, about 10 cars consists both times. Always wondered why they were brought over here and where they would originally operate, as i could not find any videos of them on trains around Repap plants, even the Skeena one. Although Repap did own a paper mill along the line in Miramichi, NB , those cars came around just a couple of years after the plant was decommissioned!
Having run the old mns it was like running on a washboard up down up down hence the struggling power the grades were steep and lows low fun to run but a challenge to maintain speed 😮
The MN&S certainly wasn’t built to modern railroad standards for a mainline. But we suppose that was part of its charm. Thank you for watching and for sharing your knowledge.
The Old Milwaukee/Soo Northfield Day job . Also used to run to Faribault crown cork & seal once a week or so . The Night job was just for picking up Rosemounts cars & power on Friday nights and taking everything into St. Paul Yard . On Sunday we would cab to St. paul yard and bring two sets of power and all the cars for Rosemount road switcher and the day Northfield job . Sad how the Bottom line... pushed hard working Union Rail Roaders out of a job . Back to scab labor .
The all-orange RCPE video will most likely be released some time next year. It hasn’t even been put together, so we don’t have an exact timeline for you. Sorry about that. In the meantime, any other requests? Maybe shows that we had put out on DVD previously?
I've had this DVD for years, almost know the commentary by heart!! Any chance of an update DVD on the PGR, as since this filming, Cannon Falls re-opened, and the facilities at Randolph have expanded, by the looks of google maps. Keep up the good work! Jordan, UK.

The MN&S was a neat railroad. The SOO/CP and PGR operations over the former MN&S are pretty cool too. Thanks for sharing, Cody.

How about Remembering The Cowboy & Union Pacifics Cornhusker Mainline
Hopefully soon. We have over 200 shows, so it takes some time. Thanks for writing.
