This was such a fun video to watch. As a 40 something year old viewer of your channel, I got excited when you mentioned Eric Jerome Dickey. I enjoyed every single one of his books. He was my favorite author during that time period. An author that I would make every effort to see in person when he would come to my hometown. It broke my heart when he passed away. Another author whose work I loved during that same time and still today is Kimberla Lawson Roby, her Curtis Black series will have you on the end of your seat.

Yes! I especially love his early stuff. I read Son of Mr. Suleiman last year and it made want to go back and reread his first few books.
@@Erica-en2qz Yeah, when I found out that he passed away at the beginning of 2022 I told myself I was going to re-read his backlist. He’s such a good storyteller.

I love going to the library very good video I also like Eric Jerome Dickey is also use to read E Lynn Harris and Omar Tyree they are good reads but some of them drags the story line when it could have ended at chapter 10 and not chap 20 Imo 😊

@@ShawnaciSchroeder when it's multiple people speaking it's hard to sympathize or hate a person without knowing how they speak. This is how I experienced the book, through audio version. This is how I read A Dowry of Blood, she had a thick accent and it was amazing! Julia Whelan which we all know and love narrates a lot of good books. If I like a narrator, I tend to like the books they narrate. And I tend to read more out-of-my-genre books, if I like the narrator

I freakin love Kwame Alexander! The Crossover was my favorite book I read in 2023… the ending of that book wrecked me! And then I read it to my daughter, and it wrecked me again. 😅 I have Solo but haven’t read it yet. Hope you enjoy that one!

Now that I am beginning to understand troupes. My favorite troupe is friends to lovers as well. I don’t think I really like faking dating troupes. It seems like there are so many books that are the same with this troupe that are just alike. If that makes sense. Also, I don’t like children talking in a book neither. I am listening to June First on audible and the kids voices are so annoying. I am learning what I like and dislike by watching your videos.
