I really appreciate this guys tutorial.Straight and to the point with no frills or pointless waffle.EXCELLENT TUTORIAL.
This was incredibly helpful! Especially as a lefty. Thank you! ...Plus my cat was totally enthralled hearing your pups. 🤘
The toughest letters to master bro…..no room for error because everyone recognizes this alphabet and it must be uniform with no flare. Great job!
Finally. A lefty that knows what they're talking about. The golden combination I've been searching for! Thank you, sir, for your time and knowledge.
This is seriously a great video. So many little things I've been trying to pick up that haven't seen before (like twisting the brush for the corners etc.). Thanks for taking the time to share this rad stuff with us!
Well not a waste of your time or mine great information. Im sure you hear this often but i would have loved a class like this when i went through body school! I hope people around you get inspired by you knowledge and passion for art. Thanks for inspiration!
I was hooked with the quality of the block letters at the top of the template, watched the entire video in detail, thank you for your commitment to the craft of fine lettering.
now this is the type of tuition we need , thank you very much, can't wait for the next instalment
Best demonstration and explanation I've come across. Can't thank you enough for sharing, really appreciate it. Cheers 👍
Thanks Dannos! In Brazil all the guys want to do dificult letters without this brush control basic. I will practice this lesson first. Thanks for your time!
Love it Danno!
I've got some 1-shot poster paint, and let me tell you, that lettering of your BRUSH CONTROL BASICS does my soul good.
Great video you really broke it down to basics. This is exactly what a beginner like my needs. Thank you!!! 😬👍
Thanks for your insight and experience. Finally have something to practice. Much appreciated.
So, so glad I found your video. Excellent job teaching the basics. You made it very interesting for me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 😊
Killer basics of hand-lettering... this is actually pretty inspiring.
Thanks alot for the great info. I've been interested in learning the art since I was 11. I'm 77 now. Now I'm ready to get going ! I picked up pinstriping at 68. It's letting now.
Wonderful, thanks for posting this, extremely helpful. Would love to see extreme close ups but this is still gold for me.
Been searching for the striped back absolute basics video thanks dude took loads of notes from this
Hey thanks for this video I have been trying to learn lettering and now I will use your lesson here and see how I can progress.
Second camera zoomed into the brush would make this film perfect, but still, I find it great ;)
Beautiful work sir. Great to see a southpaw tutorial. Life in the left lane!
Squares, triangles, and circles! Thanks for the basics
When I watched this months ago I didn't pick up that you are a lefty like me... Now coming back after actually buying paints and brushes, this is really helpful!
Also, I noticed that you exhale into every stroke, and at first I thought it was strange, but I finally tried that approach and it actually helps to steady the stroke, sort of like aiming and firing a rifle or bow-and-arrow.
(edited) A few months in, and I think I'm giving up on my mahlstick for now, inspired by your use of the hand-rest technique.
Thanks for the lesson wish the camera angles were better but I was able to get the idea. I hope you put out more content I enjoy your videos.
finaly one of the best info for beginners thank you sir !!! glad that i found this movie
Good demonstration. One common mistake beginners make is that they make the curved letters the same height as the square ones, meaning the S is the same height as the A. You need to create an optical illusion by making the curved letters slightly taller than the squared ones. Place a straight edge along the headline on a newspaper or poster and you can see what I mean.
I'm just transitioning from paper & ink to brush & paint, this was very helpful and informative. Thank you so much!
You are quite welcome. More to come this week.
lm a self taught sign painter & window painter, Thank You for helping me,i have a lot of experience, t
Brilliant video my friend - anything worthwhile in this life takes time commitment and practice . It’s such a shame that the computer age has made many people just want everything instantly . Any one who is truly wanting to master any skill will grind away at it . I am looking out for your next video ……I really like your down to earth manner . Thank you from England .

Lefties unite! Was so happy when I seen left handed. God it’s frustrating trying to transfer the skill from right handed artists. 😂

Two minutes in, and I could already tell the information you were giving was going to be VERY useful. And I learned exactly what I needed to know. Later, when you drive by a sign, you may have helped with it looking so good. Thank u!!
Great video 👍 thank you
Great instruction
Great video.
Really enjoyed this video. Ive been a fan of graffiti and letters for quite some time. I can't wait to start painting. This video was very informative and motivational. Thank you.
THANK YOU, SIR!
The rite size brush not only makes the work faster it gives a smoother finish.
Yes! The hundreds! One of my mentors says pretty much the same thing about drawing staple tattoo images.
Dude.. youre awesome!
Thank you. Very nice of you.
Thank you!
yeah, that was perfect. basics are best
Hi, Thank u sir for such a great tutorial....I am from india, my father used to be a sign board painter but now he had passed away 2 years ago, it's a shame I didn't learn anything from him, but now I am in a dire need to follow his profession as that is the only source of income we have....I have learnt pretty basic lettering....our main source of income is lettering on building (image below)
If u would help me with I would like to be your student....
Thank u again for what you are doing...
God bless....
Try Davidographicsguy on you tube, over fifty excellent videos. The man in this video has some issues, but seems like a really nice guy...
10:50 Great camera angle.
thanks sir nice video
Just subscribed. Not boring to us who want to learn. Camera set higher would be better for these old eyes.
I'm going to view your videos and look forward to your next. Thanks for this one.
Hi, What paint can be used to make a sign on a pvc board that lasts outdoors, Thank you!
I want to learn this.
What kind of paper should I be painting on?? Thanks you
At 15:9 I think the word you was looking was "interest"
🔥🔥🖌️💯
Great video! I think you should put that your left handed in the description somewhere to make it easier for us lefties to find. Any plans to do casual lettering tutorials?
That is a great idea James. And yes, Casual lettering is on my list. Thank you for your input.
I was so happy to see a tutorial for lefties... I couldn’t see what you were doing tho... your camera shot your back just when I thought I was going to learn a stroke... hope to see more videos with the lettering view
Blocking your work with your back was a idea, we know as much now as we did at the start of the vid!!
Is there any good books with font?
Old man artist very nice
yes yes please .
Left handed yay!
Have you never used a stick? How does that work on site?
FINALLY
Nise sir
Should be learning a dagger stroke and small dots with leaving air on
Like practicing scales.
Dreadful, but essential. I just wish we could see the brush tip on the paper.
I thought my dog kept walking around me. Lol. Hit pause and he stopped. But it wasn’t my dog. Lol.
I’m very bad at lettering but good at painting.
Tapas todo el proceso y lo importante con tu cuerpo amigo
Number on tip for beginners ---PAINT CONSISTENCY ! That will affect how the paint pays out from the brush.
Somehow it seems he is learning himself
Good theory, but I could not see what you were doing because you blocked the camera view..
Put the camera on the other side so we can see what you are doing maybe????
Would have been good If we saw less of your back and more of your hand and brush. I couldn't really see how you were forming the shapes because you were in the way of the camera.
It would be nice if I could see something besides your back.
Ten minutes in, painting begins (I’m a visual learner), and he’s in front of it half the time ... o.0
Or you are using a paint brush sorry thought you were airbrushing
this not a perfect lettering. poor...
Can you just teach what you know and stop wasting my time editorializing? Is it a "beginner's course" because YOU are a beginner? Let's see if I've got this right, it's like coloring in a coloring book, stay inside the lines. OK, what's next?
