I’m going through a acl, meniscus and Broken tibula injury from skating and I related to everything you said and it was super relieving to know it’s normal to feel the way I’m feeling right now

hey man, look at daewon. Hes 43 years old and still killing it. Although hes not jumping off buildings anymore, hes still paving the way for skateboarding and you can too for atleast another 10 years

I'm watching this right now, hurt my knee 2 days ago and waiting to get an MRI today, how he's describing it sounds almost exactly like what I did

Tore my ACL/meniscus 4 months ago in a similar way, but riding bike. Fractured a bone in my knee too. He described it well, that pop. Couple minutes later my knee got very hot. Rode home about a mile. Shortly after it swelled up. Less than 2 weeks after the injury, I had surgery. Biggest part was getting my knee to bend prior to surgery. Had to get it bent to 120°. Thankful to have a really good doctor and physical therapists.

I met Paul Rodriguez at a signing in 2012 in Frederick, Maryland before a Plan B skate demo. When I say met I mean I asked him to sign my hat. I still have a the hat and he signed “2012!!!” along with his name of course. I remember reading it aloud to my friends a few minutes later and I said “2012!” And Paul Rodriguez said “2012 baby!” I didn’t know I’d get a response almost like he wasn’t a normal person lmao but anyways I won’t forget that day. Much love for skateboarding.

Damn man. I've finally figured out the injury that took me off a board when I was 18 was a torn acl.. I'm now 29 and I'm JUST finding out this is what it was. I have to get this fixed man I was so good I didnt think that this injury was repairable. I be walking calmly and BOOM slips out of place for no reason and I'm in the ground. I'm fixing this and I'm getting back right to where I was I've missed skateboarding so damn bad!! FUCK acl tears man omg it took so many years away from my skating. Where would i be right now.

Paul knows he's probably not coming back from this injury, at least not as the same guy he was before. 22-year-old NFL running backs sometimes don't come back from what happened to him, and it's a lot easier to heal when you're young. I found it noteworthy how he brought up his interest in acting and preemptively spoke about the potential that it could progressively occupy more of his time once his knee's healed and he's able to walk/function in everyday life. Make no mistake; Paul came on the show with the sole purpose of establishing this narrative. And honestly, I'm fine with that. If things happen to work out that his knee gets better and he decides not to skate anymore, it'll be a graceful way to end his career in skating without a sad, unfortunate endnote hanging over his legacy. The narrative will be, "Paul blew out his knee, then, while recovering, he got really involved in acting and didn't have time to skate once it healed," rather than "Paul blew out his knee and it ended his career." Paul Rodriguez loves skateboarding and he wants to be celebrated for his accomplishments, not mourned.
