It feels very good to see a podcast tackling some issues as deep as the penitentiary system with such a direct approach. More people should know about what a disaster it really is
It’s crazy how many guys besides myself that had a skate career that went to prison. It sucks but I’m glad I’m not the only one. I ended up on the fouryard at Solidad and then the shu at Corcoran. Four years of my life shit ain’t worth it
A motto I’ve heard a lot of cops live by is this: a criminal needs everything to go right, a cop only needs one thing to go wrong. That concept should resonate with anyone who actually thinks about it.
Brandon Turner was soo gnarly skateboarding and in general. Check out Shorty's hardware video when he jumps off that school roof into a pool. I wish him success and a continued leveled head.
I actually did a classification internship here in mass. I watched a dude tell officers in front of me that he kidnapped, raped, and murdered a girl from Assumption College in Worcester. I cant explain the feeling that gave me.
that’s cruel and unusual punishment. fucking heinous. i’ve been isolated 24/7 in a psych ward because people thought i was suicidal and i gotta say, that being in a room with no stimulation? it’s torture. legit torture. i only did like 2 or 3 days of that. but two months?! i can’t even imagine….

Brandon Turner was always one of my favorites but my father was a drug dealer and he ruined many lives by taking advantage of others addiction. Marijuana isn't a drug though and I believe it should be legalized.

Well, it isn't difficult to stay out of jail and/or prison. Simply choose not to break the law. Sure, accidents and crazy things can happen, but the odds of stuff like that happening are very low. You have to repeatedly break the law or do something extreme before they throw you in prison. The legal system gives you several chances before giving you a long sentence. That is why I don't understand how people can bitch about their probation requirements being too strict. They say, 'they are trying to set me up, man. We are destined to fail'. I shake my head and say/think, 'Dude..they will only violate you if you are messing up. Simply choose to not mess up'. Going to prison is a CHOICE in 99% of all situations.
@@michaelr.4878 Christ, this is the ignorance that’s led to such a dire justice system in the US in the first place - you need to educate yourself boy. Crime is rarely just “a choice” and it’s a huge simplification to just saying you should “choose not to”. Research into the nature of poverty is a good place to start, maybe the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, but that has a lot of emphasis on the UK so it depends on where’s relevant to you. Just the fact alone that poverty is the number one factor related to crime should be enough to shatter your misconceptions about the reality of crime and prison.
Or at least the worst 1st world country. Here's a history lesson, what 1st, 2nd and 3rd world actually means. After World War 2 the Allies and the Soviet Union split Europe in half basically. A 1st world country is a country that is aligned with NATO, the United States and Western Europe. Mexico is technically a 1st world country along with Australia, Japan and South Korea. A 2nd world country is a country that is aligned with Russia/former Soviet Union, nations such as China, Syria and North Korea. A 3rd world country is aligned with neither, nations such as Brazil. It's an out of date terminology.
