Ranked Play is the official competitive 4v4 Multiplayer experience for Modern Warfare® II, using the official rules, restrictions, maps, and modes from the Call of Duty League, which can be read here. Whenever the Call of Duty League rules are updated, expect changes to the Ranked Play rules to follow suit.
Players must be at least Level 16 to access Ranked Play but will have all unrestricted items - including weapons and attachments - automatically unlocked within this mode to ensure that all players are on the same competitive footing.
Modern Warfare II brings several massive changes to the Call of Duty gameplay across the board. Several new changes have been touted, such as advanced AI system in the campaign and co-op modes, water physics, and swimming mechanics, as well as an overhauled vehicle system. New gameplay features and movement tactics include dive to prone, mantle, and ledge hang along with the removal of slide canceling. New vehicle gameplay features include leaning out of vehicle windows, mantling onto a vehicle roof, and hijacking. The Gunsmith system is also given a revamp, allowing players to fine-tune specific attachments to suit their playstyles. Gunsmith 2.0 revamps the original by offering weapon platforms that branch progression to reduce repetitiveness. It also features a firing range to test your guns. the leveling system has also been revamped as now when you get an attachment for a gun you get the attachment for all weapons of that same type along with this change there is no way to skip reload animations because they have added checkpoints to help encourage switching to your secondary in a fight. These changes are seen to completely shift the way people play the game and how Infinity Ward is going to make new games.
