Thank you so much for sharing your altered book process. I have watched your other videos to and can't wait to start my altered journal. You have lovely books, such beautiful pages and I can't even begin to imagine have the old paper feels in your hands.😁
This is a marvelous solution! Your way of making these books is just right. Love, love, love them! How odd that starting in the back would make a difference... 💐
I’m sure there must be several more ways to do this ! No frets over how to do it. As you say, do the research and figure out what works best for you! Thanks for updating and sharing. I want to give this a go at some point.
you are doing GREAT!!! it will all work out fine!!! your first book looks WONDERFUL!!! love the Asian digis....will have to look at Sarah's page!!! thanks!!!
Wow Rachel, you're on a roll making all these journals❤As far as I know there is not an official craft police😂😂😂except those people that have the right way they think to criticize🤔🙊the glory of doing this is do it your way as much as you like❤thanks for showing both ways❤
There’s just something about doing what we were taught not to do. Tearing pages out of books and gluing pages together! It is sooo much fun ha. It’s actually therapeutic to me. And rules? There’s rules? Who knew? Lol. I so enjoy watching your videos. Your projects are awesome! TFS 🌸
I have worked with strung books a ton!! I have been making altered books with mixed media like LorriMarie Jenkins for about 2 years now-- so I am really familiar with the sewn in signatures. The best advice I can give you is make sure the last page of a signature is glued to the first page of the next signature for strength. The more pages you remove, it does weaken the strings on each signature- so I tend to put a strip of fabric in between the pages I have glued together. You mentioned washi tape- and that may work as well. These books won't take the same abuse my books would take in mixed media- so I think they will survive.
Really excellent video on a subject I can really use. I never tried starting from the back! Often I find I cannot be constantly even with taking pages out. Just came in from working in the yard..WONDERFUL to get fresh air 55 degrees with sun.🌞
You are too funny! I really enjoy watching your videos. I would be doing the same thing, mine would be even worse. I still learn from you, keep on going... :) Stay safe!
Great idea with these books... one more thing i will have to try when i can get the energy up to stop being so slack...lol, thanks for the video Rach xox
You have inspired me yet again. I have made these before. I have so many big Book pages leftover, usually a joined 2 page spread. So I decided to take different sizes of these removed book pages and made a journal only using these book pages. I collages them the same way you are. And this Journal has turned out strong and unique. My journals usually use digitals so just plain pages (mostly the plain pages from vintage/ antique books) was very new to me. I love it! (Thanks for the "idea!)
I enjoy watching you create and listening to your accent. When you mentioned the date of the book; my grandmother was born in 1904!! I was raised by her. 😀
i love the book that you will be making into a No Sew Journal - its beautiful - this is the same technique that i use to create my Altered Books - tear out pages from center of each signature and then glue pages together - but i do the math lol - figure out how many pages that i need to glue together only because i've been taught to glue some pages together in the front of the book, then in the back of the book and then in the center - repeat until done - this will ensure a straight spine - sometimes if you go from front to back or from the back to the front it can cause the book spine to curve - your flip thru journal is very pretty - its all lovely Rachel - hugs and be well xx
It makes sense and I have made my first with your old way..but the pages was glue in and I couldn’t get a pretty book..OH I can’t explain but I made another book I found a book where the pages were sewing in and that was much better 🤣 but I know what you mean..🤣😂 Love your journals and your papers you are using 👏😀 I have pretty original old paper but I scanned them so I can use them in this. I shall use my book for the Margarete Miller decoupage
Made an altered book at Christmas time and it would not lay flat in the cover...I removed the cover and made it separate then made a wrap for the pages of the book then inserted it inside the cover...worked well and easy to use for whatever u want and it looks good on the shelf...good luck with all your journals 💕
Loved the surprise vid too! This is a great help. Def saving it for after the move. I do the same thing and end up with gator mouths when the spine is small. Thos beautiful leather books I was talking about are like this. Thank you hunny for helping keep us all sane during all this crazy. We appreciate you!
I hope you are coping with your move! Imagine how many pizza you have to make for your family! Mind you , you do have many helpers! Thank you so much 😊
hey Racheal I just love everything you do .You so talented and everything you do is beautiful, Have you ever made a pocket card. would love your take on them!
Beautiful journal! Love your mom's stitched pieces you used on the front covers. I have always loved hand stitching, there's just something about taking needle and thread in hand...
thanks for this tutorial, beautiful and I love the cover with those handmade stitches I really like that I'm sure I'll try to make a diary like this thank you very much. In this period seeing your vidos keep me company and above all you are very creative and very good thank you. PS I'm using the google translator because i don't know english i hope it translates well.

Love the art book idea you are doing with the books. About how large are the books you usually use? I am wondering if the books I have are too small to use for this?
Are you still doing Margarettes 2020 challenge? I have enjoyed doing it with you very much, Also your pizza looked very deliscious, could almost taste it thanks it was a joy to watch. GOD bless you and keep you and those you love safe and well in JESUS name. Amen

I would recommend LorriMari Jenkins tutorial on preparing a book to alter.
I will check it out. Thank you so much!

I think hint you can use any size it just depends what you want to do in it. I think these are around 6”x9”. Thank you so much 😊
Roxy Creations thank you, they look really big on the video. 🤗
90 degrees to day in Texas!😮
Love. How is your new glue stick working?
It’s fine although I prefer my Giotto glue stick. Thank you so much 😊
What’s the worst that could happen if you misjudge the number of pages??
I’ll just glue more or less together somewhere😂
I like this way. Not too much of a fan of all the different pockets in the Gayle/ crafty Irene way...
I would have to be very organised before starting to do one with built in pockets! Thank you so much 😊
Of corse Gayle and crafty Irene made their books beautiful. Just to much for me I mean..... this is more like a art journal
It’s more random😁
You make your own rules and it always turns out. Doesn’t matter applies here. 🥴😏
Thanks Sherry!
