Lyrics:
CASHED OUT IN THE FRONT ROOM
ASHES STAIN HIS LIPS
LUCIFER ON THE SOFA
STARING AT YOU
YOU’VE BEEN COUNTING WEEKENDS
NEVER GETTING DRESSED
SPEAKING IN THIRD PERSON
TRYING TO FORGET
WHAT AM I GONNA DO
WITH YOUR LAST CIGARETTES
ALL YOUR OLD RECORDS
ALL YOUR OLD CASSETTES
YOU HIT THE CORNER MARKET
FEEL THE WINTER SKY
LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDOWS
AS YOU’RE PASSING BY
AND I’M CHASING EVERY THOUGHT
AND I’M WALKING OVER WATER
THINKING ABOUT WHAT I LOST
WHAT AM I GONNA DO WITH
WITH YOUR LAST CIGARETTES
ALL YOUR OLD LETTERS
EVERYBODY KNOWS
THAT I’M STUCK WITH ALL YOUR PICTURES
A BOX OF CIGARETTES
ALL YOUR OLD RECORDS
ALL YOUR OLD CASSETTES
NOW YOU’RE CRUISING UP LAVACA
AGAINST THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS
GONNA WALK ALL EVENING
THERE’S NO ONE OUT TONIGHT
NOW YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT DALE WATSON
THINKING ABOUT TURQUOISE
ALL ALONG WEST AVENUE
WHILE THOSE BLACK BIRDS MAKE THEIR NOISE
TELL ME TRUTH LATER
AND JUST LIE TONIGHT
FOR NOW I NEED PEACE
AND NOTHING FEELS RIGHT
AND I’M STUCK WITH ALL YOUR PICTURES
A BOX OF CIGARETTES
ALL YOUR OLD RECORDS
YES AND ALL YOUR OLD CASSETTES

Had no idea who this band was and saw them on Austin City Limits last night, Feb. 18, 2023. LOVE THEM!!
I FINALLY FOUND IT! my old art teacher always played this in his class and i've been looking all over for it.
Reminds me of my passed love. Lucifer indeed...
Such a quintessentially Austin song. I lived there for a good spell. My wife died while we lived there. I walked the streets a lot then. Destroyed with grief. Dale Watson, Chickenshit Bingo, all of it. It’s a beauty, this song. This album. This band. Peace.
I love this song and it's very poignant to something I'm going through right now, but I've never understood the reference to Dale Watson. Thanks for making sense of it.
Spoon somehow keeps making the soundtrack to all my bizarre emotions that dont have names. Absolute banger of a closer
This song is pretty damn perfect. On its own and as the closer to the record.
❤
Such a chill track the image of lucifer on the sofa fits the sound perfectly. Dark and groovy and ambient it sounds sprawling and makes a great closing track. They are back to killing it with their closers

@@asianguy6174 How
spoon is the most consistently good band i know
This guy can't write a bad song. Just saying. These guys are tits!
I have to agree, it baffles me how not many people appreciate their music.
I was so happy to see them be nominated for a Grammy!
Jesus Christ I'm in love with Spoon's sound...
intro very Psychedelic Furs/which is never a bad thing....this song is a gem
I used to live in Austin a while ago. It’s been 10 or so years since I moved away. This song takes me back there. All hail the mighty Spoon!
Love this city....and Spoon is one of our all time great bands!
Any song with the word cassettes in it is gonna be good.
What you gonna do with your last cigarettes?
@@beckerdo "all your old records, all your old cassettes"
Let me pass that on to aspiring musicians. They’re trying too hard.
One of the best album closers yet. Top 3 at least
I've just been hearing this song on repeat for the last few days.
Same here
Drums are sick
Just woke up to THISSSSS 😍😍😍 finally! Sounds great!!
This band is so brilliant. Every album. Every show I’ve been too. Bands like this make my life better.
so a pleasure to listen this in the morning, my kids are loving too and now are weaking up eating there déjeuner with it
And yet another banger from Spoon; when are you guys gonna stop blowing my mind?
Great Roxy Music feel. Impressive pros at the height of their power.
This is insanely good ♦️
Love this song. Another great closer. "Lucifer as your own worst self" is a real mood in a post-pandemic world (if we're even really post-pandemic).
Now you’re talking ..
This song is perfect
Loving these new Spoon tunes!
Especially this one!
It has that distinct Spoon style, loved it!!!
Love how on the vinyl this is followed by that snippet of creepy 28 Weeks Later soundtrack that abruptly cuts off. This band never misses.
Unlike most people, Transference is one of my favourite Spoon records. And this song crystalizes that album's meloncholic longing so beautifully. I'm obsessed. XO Britt and co. Thank you.
Transference is to Spoon as Fables of the Reconstruction was to REM. It definitely took a few listens for me to really start to love that album and I absolutely agree that this album reminded me of Transference, including the intro to "Wild" which reminded me a lot of "Who Makes Your Money". This track also reminds me of "Us" from Hot Thoughts.
This feels like a less abstract callback to Us, the closer of the previous album. Really nice note to end the album on, so chilled out
such a great track, love the vibe, spoon forever 🖤
A wonderful album and track. I tell everybody about this album, every body! A real gem. . .Thank you.
Spoon just put out their best album
You guys nailed it with this one . I can't wait to really sink my teeth in this album.
New to me... I definitely liked our first date !!! Spoon fed to me...
Very reminiscent to my ears, of 20th CE early punk cabaret. This song is very good for my mental health.
Love love this track
These guy never always nail it! I Love Spoon
Todo el flow de los 60's. ♥️
Ahhhhh new album drop it's happening!!!!!!!
Génial ! ❤
Always nail it
I thought I was doing okay with the news that this might be the last Spoon album, but this song kicks me in the gut.
Where did you hear this??
In the Spin interview with Britt Daniel he comes off uncertain about making another record.
😢
Amazing! Come to Brazil!!!
Dale Watson brought me here ; )
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really love the beginning of the album. 8/10 for the entire album. I was a little disappointed towards the end of the album. I've been a Spoon fan ever since I saw the video for "Everything hits a once" on M2(MTV 2) decades ago. I remember trying to find the Album(CD format) because it was very obscure at the time and downloading music on your PC was nonexistent, lol, wow......I'm old. Anyway, Britt, if you or any other band member ever check the UA-cam comments I just want to say Thank You for staying true to the Art thru all these years. Love you guys.
It’s strange to me how eventually the body and mind can adjust to any injury. The desire to survive is that strong.
This band is such Healing Vibes ❤
@@celiareynolds550❤ I needed to be reminded of this one. I hope you’re well out there.
Lucifer was looking down on him.
best Spoon track for lonely listening
Yeah. It's a 0300 type sound with no other fuck and bottles of booze sorta sound
Lyrics:
Cashed out in the front room
Ashes stain his lips
Lucifer on the sofa
Staring at you
You've been counting weekends
Never getting dressed
Speaking in the third person
And trying to forget
What am I gonna do
With your last cigarettes?
All your old records
All your old cassettes?
You hit the corner market
Feel the winter sky
Looking through the windows
As you're passing by
Mmm-mmm, I'm chasing every thought
And I'm walking over water
Thinkin' 'bout what I've lost (thinkin' what you got)
What am I gonna do with
With your last cigarettes?
All your old letters
Everybody knows
That I'm stuck with all your pictures
A box of cigarettes
All your old records
All your old cassettes
Now you're cruising up Lavaca
Against the traffic lights
Gonna walk all evening, yeah
There's no one out tonight
Now you're thinking 'bout Dale Watson
Thinking 'bout turquoise
All along West Avenue
While those black birds make their noise
Tell me the truth later
And just lie tonight
For now, I need peace
And nothing feels right
And I'm stuck with all your pictures
A box of cigarettes
All your old records
Yes, and all your old cassettes
Anyone else getting serious "Chicago At Night" vibes from this one?
What?
🐐 🐐🐐
❤❤❤❤
Thinkin' 'bout what I've lost _(thinkin' what you got)_
Added to my Spotify list to be called "Nightcappers" with tracks like Deacon Blues etc.
The sax is so Morphine-esque
I’m back where I should be…. Thx Britt
inside out type beat
First will be last and last will be first
Best song of the year thus far. Love to Mark Lanegan. Not happy about that. X
Hello my past self. This song is still the best bizzle. Nobody acknowledged Mr Lanegan? Fxxk em all where they live.
Texas riff. Britt Daniel interview 13-Feb-22 - Catch it on NPR's World Cafe podcast.
About the same comment last night - UA-cam zapped it for whatever reason.
Sheesh
Thank you 88.5 for helping an old white guy find " the good stuff". Dylan Leblanc, Jack Broadbent, Neil Francis, Wet Leg and Spoon. Play some new Mike Campbell...carrying the TP torch without fear.
sounds like it could be a phoenix song
This is pretty sad.
Whoever got his box of cigarettes and his old records and all his old cassettes.
This guy was going to Hell sounds like.
This is one Cool Song.
Very nice song. And, in sum, not a bad album. If this was Spoon's first album, I'd be Ga Ga (Ga Ga Ga) for it. As it stands, it is an album that borrows heavily from what they've done before, perhaps more than any of their prior albums had done. Maybe it's not such a bad idea to borrow when your prior catalog is so great!?
Эта песня меня сама нашла
I wonder who cashed out in the front room.
I like rusty spoons
Honey Im Home
This is the missing power ballad from ‘Low’.
End x start doing everything.....!?!???
You think it was The Dale Watson?
Dummy! We NEED a video to this song!
Really? The music is pretty good. Close your eyes, and use your imagination. What does the song say to you? Some songs are much better without a video.
