On the other side, Carthage, the trade nerds and genius negotiators and diplomats failed to simply send tribute and organize reinforcements to somewhere as close as southern italy... i wonder what was REALLY going on within the Carthaginian senate those couple years. very sus.

Chasing them off after 1st Punic war wont only made the senate lose people's support, but also made them loss the rich Iberian peninsula.
      They only managed to chase off Hannibal and the Barcid from Carthage after The 2nd Punic war as they basically made the Barcid took all the blame for their own errors.

    Whenever I look for inspiration in my personal life, I always think about how persevering the Romans were. Setback after setback. Major defeat after major defeat. Huge losses and barely any hope of victory. Yet they fought on. Lesser people would've cracked or given in.. Then again lesser people did not conquer and make our world.

    • @stuka80
      @stuka80 3 роки тому +3

      yea the Romans of this period really embodied the idea that perseverance is the key to success. imagine if they had given up after Cannae. This never give up attitude is so applicable to everyones personal life.
