Award-winning journalist, Manon Loizeau, spent the past 20 years covering the Chechen conflict. She returns to the places she knew so well, filming undercover in Chechnya, to reveal how Putin has ‘pacified’ this once proud land.
Behind the gleaming facade of the new Grozny, Loizeau discovered women and men more terrified than in all the years of war and occupation. A fifth of the population vanished during the war but anyone who tries to remember is eliminated. Chechnya has become a true police state which removes, tortures and kills those who do not submit to the Kremlin’s new order. A journey into the realm of oblivion and terror.

It’s so sad that people go missing and authorities don’t want to help them, in fact they are the one doing it. I feel so sad for grandparents who have to go through this at this age. It’s so heartbreaking for family members.

I have never been there and dont know but this seems like propaganda.. "Now women must wear vailes" -few minutes later shows a parade were theres plenty of woman not wearing vailes. Also i have seen a few personal vlogs from there and there were woman all over the place not wearing vailes.

I feel for the old couple who just want their daughters back. Are two girls really that much of a threat to society? And for Mr Kutayev and his family.
Mr Kadyrov, these are just families with children. Showing mercy and humility will make you even greater.
I don’t want to sound grim. But I think the security forces who arrested or kidnapped the two girls do so for more sinister purposes. Like sexual assault.

That’s what I don’t understand how the generations of families wiped out by Russia can all of the sudden forget . When I watched this documentary I thought about the Palestinians who are suffering under the terror of israel for almost a century. Free Palestine, Free Chechnya.
When the Palestine loses 3 mio people within 3 years, you can say that it reminds you of it.
What you see on the video is not even 10% of what really happens there. but we are fighting for our freedom today, against Russia in Ukraine together with the Ukrainian army, a few Chechen battalions have been formed, there would be more but since the Chechens have Russian Passports, not everyone has the opportunity to fight for freedom with weapons in their hands, but we will win and hopefully we will not be left in the towel by the whole World like 25 Years ago.
