the petrified digimon is from Cockatrimon that you can meet there. I am pretty sure the consempt of his ability to petrifie other digimons was established when this game was created, Can also be seen in the original anime. I always found it so creepy that the he just kept his victoms as statues. you can only meet Cockatrimon in the morning sinve he is a (early bird) rooster digimon.
@@Dylan-Quincy Maybe This Kokatorimon doesn't do that...but the Databook, which pretty much tell us that with the exception of the Baby Digimons, all of them could be on par with the Demons of Shin Megami Tensei, said that almost all Kokatorimons enjoy turning other Digimons of lower level or weaker champions into stone. The Kokatorimon we meet in DW1 could be an exception but seeing all those statues in Misty Tree is a Red Flag instantly
@@8bitjakey Kokatorimon is based on the Cockatrice, a rooster-serpent hybrid with the ability to petrify those with its stare. This is further hinted at with its signature move, Petra Fire
If I have to choose an event that could be terrified in DW1...It must be both battles outside of Jijimon's House. That's like a kids friendly version of the Hauntings of Silent Hill 4. The fact that suddenly the only place safe in the Island can become a Battle Zone can be scaring. Since the beginning of the game, the game teaches you that File City is a safe place where you can rest, train your digimon and prepare yourself for all dangers that are outside of It,and also that talking to Jijimon is a good thing as you can recap your progress. After you reach the 15 points, which mean that you are still in the Early game, talking to Jijimon becomes a bad thing because without a warning of something,Greymon appears to challenge you. Like I said, you are still in the Early game and at best, you have defeated Meramon, who has 2500HP and Magma Bomb,an attack that can deal 300 damage and possibly a first time player has a partner with 2000HP and around 1000-1500MP plus 150-200 in the rest of stats. Greymon on the other hand has pretty much the stats your partner must have in order to reach Perfect level. You are pretty much screw if you are a first time player and while losing the battle just means that your partner loose one life and you loose a couple of objects, the game has teach you two things, that YOU ARE NOT SAFE and YOU MUST ALWAYS BE READY. A kid could be afraid of talking with Jijimon again after this point as he couldn't know when another enemy could appear. But...that's not all,the game use this resource twice,Greymon is just the first opponent but Airdramon can also be scaring. Not by the fact that he's powerful because by this point your partner should be as powerful as Greymon but because you are informed that the Enemy, the one who has been causing all the chaos in the File Island...is right above you. Analogman was always there, watching you from the highest point of Mount Infinity. He could have sent Airdramon since the beginning to kill you and your partner. Is the same thing that happens with Walter Sullivan,he was always close to you,the player. This is why a considerate both the 15 prosperity and the 50 prosperity talks the most scaring part of the game...because it plays with that the player knows at that moment. You are made to believe that File City is a safe heaven but turns out that not only a powerful Champion Digimon with the potential to evolve into Perfect appears to fight you but also that the main antagonist, the villain, the one who has distort peace within File Island,is always watching you. You aren't even safe in File City.
@@8bitjakey To be fair,I only made the comparasion with Silent Hill 4 because I'm playing that game again but hell,it's almost the same feeling. File City and Room 302 are presented at first as safe places where the player can return at any moment to recover from any damage but as you progress through the story, this is no longer the case. Of course is more dramatic and well done in SH4 while in Digimon World 1 is more simple but the concept is the same. The game plays with what you,the player, know and you makes you feel uncomfortable, from the moment Greymon appears and Room 302 became haunted, the player is always scare over what could or couldn't happened after that event. And the reveal of Analogman being always above the player is the same that discovering that Walter Sullivan was always behind the wall of Henry's dorm, the main villain was always there, watching the player. In fact, while it seem ridiculous to compare Analogman with Walter both characters also are presented in the same way,you get to know little by little by exploring the game's world.
Virus MetalGreymon's description is pretty horrific too :) IIRC it used to state that Greymon stole body parts from robotic digimon (Andromon) to upgrade himself and b/c of that he caught a virus that continuously infects his body, so he has to keep upgrading himself with robotic parts to keep himself alive until he ends up becoming Machinedramon (this was before WarGreymon existed).
To be honest, this is the first time I've heard this story. (Still an interesting one) Personally the one I know is the one for like Andromon, MetalGreymon was a Prototype for Mugendramon, but in Blue MetalGreymon's case his body didn't accept the Mechanical Parts resulting in his body starting to rot, this resulted in him becoming Blue (Virus) MetalGreymon and thus stabilizing his condition, however there is another possibility where his body failed to finally stabilize with as a result he ends up becoming SkullGreymon as a last resort to survive (the same can happen if, for example, he is very close to death while his Mechanical Parts are broken - destroyed) After that SkullGreymon's fate is quite doubtful, either his own attacking instinct will ultimately lead him to his doom or he will manage to survive long enough to evolve into Mugendramon, or he will be able to regain his sanity and evolve into BlackWarGreymon.
My best guess for overdell is that it's a dell (a small, secluded valley or hollow that is often covered in trees or grass) that is elevated or overlooks something or is superior to something in some way.
