Cheese curds were always a part of my life, from the time I was a little kid. I remember us going on road trips, and picking up bags of delicious curds on the way. It had been so ingrained in me - I knew there was only one thing to do. We needed to go to every single cheese curd factory in Wisconsin and find the best cheese curds in the entire state. So that's exactly what we did.
Our journey of going to every open cheese curd factory took us 4 days and was an incredible voyage. We had such a great time, even during the long drives. We live in a beautiful state and it was so great to be able to see most of it while on this quest. I hope you enjoy watching and finding out who makes the best cheese curds in Wisconsin with us.

On behalf of the Heiman family, owners of Nasonville Dairy, we would like to thank you for this fun video and of course, choosing our curds as BEST! We believe the “court of public opinion” matters most! We are proud of our products! So much so, we would like to invite you to stop by our first location in Marshfield! We would be happy to meet you both and show you around! Thanks for the laughs and keep up the entertaining videos!
💪🏻🧀💪🏻
Ha, why hello there! Thanks so much for reaching out, the kind words, and the invitation - we will definitely take you up on your gracious offer! How's June work for you? :)
Thanks again for finding us and leaving a comment - we really love Nasonville curds (and the crazy-good ice cream) - we can't wait to stop by and see how you make these magical cheesy things in real life.
Union Star is so good! Never had Nasonville...will have to try!!
Yes! Union Star is definitely one of our faves! Nasonville beat them out ever so slightly!!
@@LisaAndJosh I loved the video! was fun! Cheese Curd fatigue though... I'm going to need to find out for myself if that's possible. ;)
@@ericnagle6483 thanks, Eric!! And man, it is so real. Didn’t think it was possible! It is truly a journey and you should definitely try it! Haha
As a born and bred Wisconsinite, thank you for doing this very important work. 👍😁💯❤️🧀
You betcha :) someone had to do it!! 😂
Union Star represent.
We honestly thought Union Star was going to take it! Their curds are so good!
Union Star is the bomb! I went there for a 4th grade field trip in 1984. We had to be at school by 4:30 AM so we could see the whole process. I love their Open and Shut sign instead of Open and Closed.
This is fantastic!! Great video love y’all❤️❤️
Thank you!!!
Great, now I want to taste them, too! Thanks Lisa and Josh!
Well, when we can reunite again, this is what we will eat together first!
@@LisaAndJosh That would be awesome!
Yay Nasonville Dairy!! They have always been my favorite! 😁
They’re SOOO good! Nothing beats them :)
@@LisaAndJosh You would be happy to know the commitment to community is so strong from the owners of Nasonville Dairy. Not enough can be stated about the humility and generosity of the ownership family to various causes in their local community The support they have for the community is further reciprocated by locals support of their great business. Such a great and humble family. Worth checking out their Marshfield plant. I have friends and family across the US that clamor for their cheese!
@@ET-df2xz Thanks for the note! we are so happy to hear this! Will definitely check out their Marshfield location!
Don't think I've ever tried the top three: Nasonville, Union Star, and Hennings. I do like Renard's though. Glad it was included on the ones tested.
Nasonville is our favorite too! Did you check out Alp and Dell in Monroe?
We love Nasonville! We didn't get to check out Alp and Dell, but definitely want to now on our next trip back! Thanks for the tip!!!
So.....which 25 did you visit?? Krohns Cheese in Stangelville is truly a great tasting cheese curd. They have fresh curds on Monday and Friday. I love there cheese!!
Hey crystal! Check out the full list of 25 factories we visited in the video description :) thanks for letting us know! At the time, we definitely didn’t get to make it to Krohns! But now want to!!
Check out the curd at Nasonville Dairy on US HWY 10 in Marshfield. There are 2 different Nasonville Dairy plants. They both make curd and the one in Marshfield is my favorite
I like the Marshfield curds better than the Curtiss curds as well.
Ooo good tip! We didn’t even consider going to the Marshfield factory, but now will!
OMG, fellow cheeseheads! Our son is a fellow cheese curd addict! I'll have to show him this...
Red button smashed, fellow storytellers!
Amazing! Cheese curds are so good! If you’re ever in the area, would love to know what you guys think about the rankings! Thank you for the follow and support!
Lisa & Josh If daddy (me) ever learns to fry them well? Last time, I nearly blew up the house! 🤭 We are in Milwaukee, so maybe!
Very nice you guys and Josh, thanks again for the Cheetos! Hope to see you on the road again!
It was so great meeting you guys! Cheetos were the perfect snack to go with our wine and your epic fire pit. See you soon!
Now, come to Quebec Canada, and find out.. :-) Maybe even try Poutine (authentic ones). Now here is a secret people will never tell you. It's very possible that the original Poutine cheese curds that where used from Poutine... actually came from Wisconsin. Wish i could find a source to prove or deny that. If it`s not the case there seems to be decent proof that the inspiration comes from the Wisconsin cheese curd.
As a Wisconsinite, I have to believe that the beautiful thing known as the cheese curd was born here.
Where's the best poutine spot? THE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW! :)
@@LisaAndJosh the channel Joseph Debenedictus is a great source for exploring questions like where's the best poutine - or at least very good poutine. Probably a few channels out their that have tackled that topic. The Debenedictus channel's main focus is also mainly on America vs Canada topics - hosted by a Canadian and American and follows their great experiments and road trips.
Thank you for being so generous with what might very well be highly secret knowledge! Wisconsin is a worthy birthplace for the cheese item that graces the legendary Canadian poutine.
Autumn and I definitely thought cheese curds are always fried lol You should fry some!
Haha oh we love fried cheese curds too! But Josh is more of a purist cheese curd lover hahah
Awesome! You should do homemade ice cream places next, sassy cow, west’s dairy etc
That’s a great idea! We loved the places that had cheese curd and ice cream in the same place. Unfortunately, our stomachs couldn’t handle both most days. A separate ice cream adventure is definitely needed
Very cool video. Out of curiosity, which kind of curds did you get from Widmer's. the brick or cheddar curds?
Thank so much for watching and the comment! We got the cheddar curds from Widmer's.
@@LisaAndJosh You're welcome. I should've known it was cheddar curds, since that's what you got from the other cheese factories.
I didnt see star valley or cedar valley, those are some great curds. Union Star is a great curd, I'll have to be on the lookout for Nasonville
Ooh, ya know, those may have been closed earlier in the year when when we did our cheese factory tour. We will most definitely have to go back and try them!! Thanks for the tip!
im a farmer and our milk goes to nasonville dairy
That's awesome :) thank you for your contribution to deliciousness
Nasonville is my hometown and used to drive past Union Star all the time when I went to high school. Union Star never closes. They are either open or shut. Probably one of the few who has ever been through Zittau. The u is silent .
Awesome, what an amazing connection! Union Star has been our go-to since childhood, it was near our home. Nasonville is now our go-to any time we make our way to and from Minneapolis!
I love Henning's!
Hennings was great! We loved their curds!
this makes me excited and gives me a stomach ache all at the same time
oh good. Lisa got ice cream to balance everything out
Haha yeah - she wasn’t feeling great after all that dairy. Delicious, but real rough few days on the ole stomach
OMG. Have either of you even used the bathroom this week after all that cheese?
Hahaha we did have some issues that week indeed and had to eat nothing but veggies for a bit
I honestly don't think I've seen a Price Charles quote used for... anything... in over a decade...
You're welcome! We aim to bring you the most relevant and up to date news.
what about mullins cheese
Mullins cheese was one of the first factories we visited!
So what did you think. cause my cheese was not squeeky
We had the same experience. We didn’t find them very squeaky or tasty. The packaging also was strange and didn’t seal very well, which probably didn’t help with the flavor.
