I have heard from a few different articles that it is potentially a partial rupture. What would that mean for the timeline?
Surgically, makes no difference because this will be a reconstruction. However, from a rehab perspective, high grade partial tears are less likely to have significant other damage and higher level of functionality (Both of which have been reported for Jurrien). That bodes well for quicker recovery. Doesn't mean it won't be 7-9 months but might be at a higher level upon returning.
Given that he probably already had a partial tear, was there any chance he could have avoided surgery if they had taken him out right away? For example, if it was only a mild sprain, would his recover look different?
