Playability over durability for me. I play with poly tour pro 1.2 gauge and love the extra feel, comfort and power it gives. Those benefits are worth it for me.
Most polys last me around a week with MSV Focus Hex being the exception, lasting around 2 weeks. I prefer strings that last me around a week since they break before losing their playability. I think Black Magic Genesis 16g and Volkl Cyclone 16g are good strings if you break strings frequently. Not only are they cheap, but they also have a high playability window.
I found that Solinco Vanquish is a great substitute for Technifiber nrg2 $$$. It lasts longer but the playability goes away before it breaks. In the long run, you save money and still have a great feel and more durability.
I use the X-One Biphase and have been recently experimenting with the Western Forehand on the Clash - I noticed that the strings frayed faster and drastically compared to my other racquet (Pure Strike) that I play with the Semi-western Forehand.
I noticed my serves were were 15-20 mph slower with a full bed of poly than a full bed of syngut. So I side with playability to get 20-25 percent more free points on serve. If you have a groundstroke that is a bigger weapon than your serve then you need to put the poly down.
HyperG didn't work for me, very stiff string even at 52lb. Busted my shoulder playing it. I play with poly and multi in cross. My usual setup was always alu power but now I'm experimenting with different strings. I don't break strings but it goes dead after 5 hours of play or so.
Switched lately from Polys to Multifilament Tecnifiber Triax, NRG full bed 51 pounds on Pro Staff 97 V13 and definitely softer, arm friendlier, less powered and spinny, and less durable. Playing 2-3 times a week, an hour hitting session, they do fray after 3-4 hours and break in three to four weeks. For stiff rackets as the Pro Staff I rather use multi than poly.
Same here. Due to arm issues I recently switched to TRIAX in the mains with Velocity MLT in the crosses. Liking it so far 👌 Sweet spot seems bigger somehow. I hope it lasts a bit longer in my 95 sq.in. 18/20 Head Pro Tour 2.0. No fraying yet 🤞
String patterns are now much more open than in prior years. With dense string patters that had 18 main strings and old smaller racquet heads, strings would last a long time. Modern tennis with its open string patterns, much stiffer frames and topspin playing styles translates into increased string breakage. Frankly, I still play with synthetic gut and am very happy with my game and my strings.
It's actually a rather complex subject to generalise, but not so difficult when talking to an individual prior to a new restring. There's level of play, how often one plays, the racquet itself and so on. Sure, there are strings that are more durability compared to those that are softer. Then again if you're a high level player many polys 'bag' out fairly quickly, but can last a very long time in terms of their playability for most weekend warriors. It's not quite as black or white as the topic may appear. Cheers big fella. 🎾🎾🎾
For a future video, can you talk about if pros use sunscreen? I've heard Nadal does not because he doesn't like the sticky feeling. I've also heard the sweat can make it get in your eyes. But sunscreen is important and I see every pro get shades darker over the course of the summer season, and some of these pros must have a lot of sun damage from constant exposure. Would love to get your thoughts on this topic.
I just got a new racket strung with Tour Bite @50lbs, the vibration from the string is crazy. Is this normal? A vibration dampener made it a bit better, but after 2 hours my arm felt funny. I could constantly feel the vibration in my arm even after putting down the racket. Any tips?
Do you serve and volley? Hit extremely flat? Natural gut literally lasts 2 hours of playtime for me. I do hit with a lot of spin to be fair, but 50 hours seems insane.

especially if you string by yourself, I prefer stringing more often instead of having less feel, comfort and power as you say

Me settling on babolat xcel main and solicon hyper G soft cross... Last about 6 weeks and not costing a bomb

leoina 66 was my go to back in the 80’s. Curious if it’s still around?
Been using poly tour and pretty happy with it. Want to try some hyper g as I've heard a lot of good things about it.
Try it, you'll like it. I'd advise adding a couple of extra lbs to the tension though, it's pretty soft feeling imo

Can you comment on using Kevlar in the main & natural Gut in the cross. I use it all the time & plays great. Incredible conrol / precision
Mayami Tour Hex is a decent shaped poly with above average durability (for a poly)
I play with a Steam 99s which has an open 16x15 pattern and literally have no idea what strings to use with it.
Was wondering if anything changed since early this year you said there would be a new pure areo is that still happening this fall?

Cost is a big factor for sure. I love hyper Gs but they don’t last nearly as long as I’d want but it’s what I got
I use Luxilon Element rough, it fits good for me, so playability over durability.

Use sunscreen, getting burned is not fun, never mind Rafa.👍😉🙂
Don´t put sunscreen on your forehead, as with sweat it will go to your eyes, and use a cap. We don´t have to do everything Nadal does.
How about 15g gut?! What kinda tire is that
Hardly breaking string with eastern grip
It depends on your technique. With eastern grip, I broke so many strings that I bought a stringing machine to reduce my costs.
tour bite. lasts long and maintains feel for the most part.

@@myluckytofu it's not a good intro into poly strings. and possibly string it in the 40s, because it is very firm.
better question would be "do you have enough money for tennis or not"?
You cannot compromise playability IMO.
I’m happy with natural gut, getting 40-50 hours out of it when using string savers
Wow! I might try it. What gut do you use?

I get about the same result. I hit pretty flat with a Yonex vcore 95. I don’t use string savers. 4.0 player.
Babolat VS touch 16
Head Velocity MLT good
Nice vid found very intresting
I use ALU Power 16 - cut it out after eight hours. Playability for sure.
Money is matters! Where you put your spin on my head!

The butt hurt is deep with this one!
Playable. Why else PLAY tennis ? If I wanted to save money, I'd stick to chess!
why am I so invested in some random guy's kid's happy meal toy?
Single use coffee cups? Seriously??
Puts a bad spin on your channel.
here under 100 views
Playability all the way.
