At 1:34 I'm not sure but I think I hear a D-->C from the singer at the right and a C-->B-->C from the one at the left and it sounds gorgeous (and that would mean the piece is in C)
You are always playing so well , was it during the same concert as last time ? i think so .. Anyway , thanks for your wonderfull prestation , all of you !!!
Yes it works well. There are groups that still do this like Arpeggiata and Scherzi Musicali. Different instruments led depending on the moment in early 17th century Italy. Everyone is listening and reacting to each other really but often it can be led by the harpsichordist/director in my experience.
@@brandonacker harpsichord director in my experience too. Never seen a group led by a theorbo or archlute player. btw - reached out to your Archlute manufacturer in Canada. See if I can get one some day.

That theorbo sounds like a gentle harp guitar on steroids: lovely!
When an 8 string guitar starts to feel like a Fisher Price toy, you’ve ascended to Brandon Acker level.

Mine too!

Yes, it is a beautiful dissonance that resolves to C major but the piece modulates a few times. It starts and ends in G major.
5 instruments creating such a rich sound 🥰
The modern bard
Listening to this is best in a live concert
Monteverdi rocks!
Sono da Cremona, Italia, la città natale di Monteverdi. This ensemble is fantastic and very authentic!

Delightful!! Could someone please tell me which church this is performed in?
Do you think Thorbo led the group back in the day? I wonder in Monteverdi's time who lead the tempo for these pieces

I'm disappointed Brandon didn't play one with a double neck
Cor, I can really hear the diapasons on this recording. Often they get a bit lost…
It's strange to see a vampire in a church
Try BEING a vampire in a church...
