Great video , lots of good info . I just ordered my" Learn to play Ngoni" paper book on Amazon in the USA . They fixed my right up . Thanks Mr. Goose .
@@RamonGoose got mine on fb and made a new bridge and put on mechanical tuners. Love the sound but wanting more instructional videos to help guide me. I know there isn’t much demand, but it is really appreciated!
Hi Ramon, I admire your talent and brave curiousity to tackle this unusual instrument. I acquired one several years ago, and I am working with a luthier to convert it by adding tuners and a pickup. Will you share with me the string gauges of the 5 strings? I am trying to sort this out with charango, timple and classical guitar nylon strings.
@@josephloducacomposer I think pretty much the strings are all the same gauge but the tension dictates the notes but if you were.yk use solid nylon or metal then obviously you would change the gauges but strings which are made of spliced together fishing line are pretty much the same gauge maybe the bass string has more strings intertwined
I play clawhammer banjo and sometimes get a little frustrated that it doesn't lend itself to 3/4 or 3/8 time very well. What you're doing is very interesting - I must find out more and see if it can be adapted to the banjo.
Thank you so much for this video my brother ⚡️ I just got my first 4 string N’goni- I am wondering how you would tune one that is 4 strings? Many thanks and blessings your way🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi Ramon... this is a very very valuable and enlightening demonstration video! Thank you very much! Do you know what are the best places to find Ngoni makers and players? Thanks! Edward
Hi Ramon, i bought your book and that help me a lot. But i didn't find answer for that what is frequency range for ngoni. Example, how many hertz are lower G and C string or highest A (or Bb)?
Hi Joona - thanks for buying the book sorry for the long time getting back to you. Ill give you those measurements v. soon in an updated lesson on this very youtube channel especially for you
Congratulations. Maybe you could be incredibly kind and share the lenght of the neck and the distances of the pegs. Maybe? I'm halfway through making one.
Martin Balaj Thank you very much, yes I'm kind of experimenting with measurements myself, so far with versions of the Akonting. I'm still a little afraid to try making an Ngoni.

Hi Ramon... this is a very very valuable and enlightening demonstration video! Thank you very much! Do you know what are the best places to find Ngoni makers and players? Thanks! Edward
Thanks Edward - sorry for the late reply - you can get them from Mali - find the ngoni facebook group which I run
What do you use for tuning N'goni five strings ?

Hi Ramon, to start the N'goni, what do you recommend, a 4 or 7 strings one ? I already play the guitar, and dont know which fit best to start with.
Hi Fanny - I like the 7 string one - I will do more lessons on this channel very soon!
Lesson 2 please! :-)
Congratulations.

Iñaki Garrido it depends of the size of the resonator, i have done my ngoni without any measurements, thats the way they do it in west Africa
