Studying for my first real classics class in college rn (as a biochemist by training I find the way you described this is almost just like my classics professor and I appreciate the fact that I can pause go back and verify what I knew before, what I’m studying, and what I need to know for my examinations)
These lectures are brilliant. I was aware of the history from childhood, but these explanations make the historical sequence extremely clear, and have served to clarify the evolution superbly . Many thanks. Oh, I find myself retreating into, particularly late imperial, Roman history more and more these days. It seems pertinent.
It's funny enough that Octavian used to be a patrician himself, but somehow he 'converted' himself to a patrician in an adoption ceremony expressly for this purpose. They always said the romans were pragmatists.
Caesar Pompey and Crassus*. Lepidus was apart of the 2nd Triumvirate. Hard to forget the richest man in Rome who gets humiliated and killed in the East
