Lol I totally understand you, I'm only a third year student and I always knew that it would never be easy if you want to be at the top. I've had no luck in getting vac work at the top 5 although I thought I submitted good applications with good grades and a well-rounded background of extracurricular activities but I never let rejection discourage me. Mostly I wanted to do vac work to get a feel of what it's like being there. Last month I got an opportunity to be an assistant to an advocate at Thulamela Chambers whom I met a conference and that revived my passion. It was thrilling experience and you saw how hard it is to be in this profession. I watched him get obliterated by opposing counsel in the labour court who happens to be his mentor although he's excellent himself but you can't always come out victorious or have things together all the time. What I learnt is it's hard but worth it when the hard work pays off. It's okay not to be okay sometimes, you've been an inspiration to me at least. You've provided much needed guidance. Strength to you.
Nathi siyabulela Atlegang! Really missed your content on these youtube streets. Those mentees are going to be super lucky to have you. I did some financial literacy work with students this year and I really enjoyed taking the money conversation one step back, I think the earning conversation should go in hand in hand with the managing money conversation so let me know if you would like me to do some basic money principle work with the final years. 🙂
Where the devil never sleeps ! 😅 I agree wholeheartedly that the legal profession is a very subjective experience. To all students and upcoming attorneys, all the best. Please look more into the new trends to be most marketable , don't do what everyone has done. Look up on Data Privacy, ESG etc ... and most importantly opt for an area in law that has marketable currency. The moment you get your degree, treat yourself like the business you are. You're selling a service. Once you have that mindset, you will really prosper. There's lots to be explored. All the best
Love this💚I received a lot of help/guidance from different people in my legal journey and that made me realise that one cannot overemphasise the importance of having a mentor, so thank you for your selfless act.. I'm an Admitted attorney but currently "practising" as a Public Prosecutor.. I'm not sure what your programme will entail but I would not mind assisting wherever I'm needed..
Hi Mrs Govuza 😊 I missed you, so happy to see you, happy to hear that you are in a much better space.🎉🎉 wish you everything that you have wished for us🥰
2:46-3:00 felt that 😭yuuuuh, I'm so scared to enter practice yerrrrr 😤. Also can you please if possible, consider to include graduates on the mentorship programme as well. Finding articles is hard and I think mentoring can help alot so that hope and interest in practice is not lost.
Hi Atlegang, I met you in December during the vac work week. You were so kind and I'm so glad I found your channel. Can't wait to see more content on your page :)
When I was in third year I went to court to just chill and ended up speaking to a prosecutor about work and he said I should change careers and I didn't understand 😂😂 now I understand yoh. Daily anxiety at every turn
Anxiety depends on the person you are I think. Some people thrive in that environment. I hope I’ll be a much better person this year :) but no, I wouldn’t say “just change careers”! It’s really not ALL that bad
Yoh! I have been feeling this way the entire year and when I finally submitted my research I was so relieved I wanted to cry! I am glad you are coming back and that you are being honest. We appreciate it.
I screamed because FELT 😭😭😂 the first 5min of this video is me just saying “Saaaaaaame sis same”. Eventually I deactivated my UA-cam don’t know if I’ll ever come back but hopefully
And finally somebody said it! This work year kicked my a** after 5 years of working this year (this new place) showed me flames. Haha thank you for sharing this 😅🥹… My teary self just sighed and nodded “yeah neh”! Thank you for sharing this Atlegang

You reminded me of my experience with interns at my firm. By the time I told them our work is hard, they had already experienced it.

Do volunteers get paid?
No. This is purely giving back.
Hey sis , even the ones that are doing their 3rd year in diploma in Law ?
Hey there, unfortunately not. You must be at least 2 years from completing your LLB 🥺 but I think I’ll consider something in this regard 🙏🏾
