I love your honesty. Iam in my final semester. As I started looking into/ at articles i was heartbroken 😭💔, this company offers 2500p/m. I was shocked😭

Even police officers don't earn half of what army officials earn and the common thing about those careers is that they both risks their lives and the job descriptions are almost the same (e.g., protection, use of firearms, crime fighting, etc.,). So unfair. 😪

Don’t worry about that. Worry about doing well at school. You’ll cross the bridge when you get there. Also start applying this year for articles

Ma'am it happens in every profession. Finance, IT alles!! I will tell you that. The one of being underpaid that time your counterparts earn more than you. You're doing the same job, same qualification but you earn R10k more than me LOL!!

I’ve experienced being underpaid in almost every job I’ve occupied. I did once confront my employer and they did nothing about it. I then got another job. But it’s a sad reality
Hi Atlegang. As a law student looking at some of the salaries being offered by some small firms? It's really heartbreaking especially considering how difficult it already is to get articles.
Also in regards to the minimum amount CLPs should be earning, it was brought to my attention last year that the LPC is suppost to set a minimum amount CLPs should be earning and that responsibility is spelt out in section 27 of the Legal Practice Act and I simply don't understand why that hasn't been set because 3000 a month is not okay at all

The remuneration is the main issue why I'm not so keen on going the CLP route. I'd rather remain as a Paralegal honestly.

Yeah what candidate attorneys get paid is nonsense.I am in my final year already and have already decided I won’t practice.I just want a law firm that can allow me to do my articles with them and allow me to keep my job cause wow 😯 I just can’t.All I want to do is get admitted.No law firm will give me my current salary 😂😂
In my previous company it was in black and white that we not allowed to discuss salaries cause they knew what they were doing.

I left my teaching job because wow... I had to be a parent, teacher, social worker, health worker, security personnel, sports coach, and and and... ngapha admin work is waiting for you. I couldn't anymore. Also add the stress of toxic managers and colleagues.

I definitely agree that market value is not reliable, I've also seen that it differs from province to province, it's terrible.
It sucks that a lot of firms also expect you to get a car so you obviously bulk at the pressure only to not be retained after your articles 🤦🏽♀️

Salaries shouldn't be a secret for real. I know in private (health sector specifically ) salaries are a huge secret bcoz some companies pay according to race.
