DS3 had a lot of things right over Elden Slop. But I don't think poise is better; I guess it depends if you want light weapons to be able to poise through attacks or not.

Few reasons being that it is harder to make lightroll work in ds3 because you have to invest in vitality in addition to meeting your endurance soft caps, and even then you were limited to a few weapon setups. like when jee was doing his dex glass cannon builds in ds3 he was lightrolling but he was always wearing some rag fashion and fast weapons, primarily rotten ghru. Also, weapon stun was longer in ds3 so if you hit them once you can still pressure and vortex them if they're constantly panic rolling due to no roll poise. Good luck doing that to lightrollers in ER. Finally ds3 had FAP ring glitch which unfortunately still exists in the game, but at least it gave you an edge to fighting lightroll abusers.

The point of criticism on light roll is that bad players crutch on it. That point is kinda lost when a good player switches to light roll. Light roll isn't even the top troll. The most broken is windy tear in combat ordeal, or united combat.
Wonder if light roll would be balanced at a high level in Elden Ring Reforged, which makes every character regardless of level or endurance have 100 carry weight and all armors have their weights increased. Would offloading the skill of spacing the enemy to a further roll be balanced if you couldn't wear heavy armors and were forced to equip the great jar arsenal to wear even a foot soldier set.
Nah, you’re basically still trading good spacing and roll discipline with a spammable emergency button. Doesn’t matter that you’re wearing lighter armor, taking 50-100 extra dmg per hit isn’t what kills most players, it’s being predictable and panic rolling that kills players. Light roll teaches you that it’s ok to mash roll.

The people you complain about have no poise or absorbtion and die in 2 hits. Light roll is obviously a plus but you're not making a point by stacking all the advantages. You're still limited to only a few weapons and terrible fashion. Nobody wants to play like this(except tryhards of course).
Heres the numbers for you 26-27 s for both the light roll and medium roll literally everything is damn near the same except the light roll covers 10% more distance so say from point a to point b with medium roll is 21 rolls the light roll would be 19 rolls the i frames are the same the only thing different is the distance covered.........so if someone is using light roll maybe blood hound step is the answer for that

In other words rolling too early or rolling when you opponent hasn't attacked at all. Normally if you see your opponent roll early, with a fast enough weapon you can click the button to attack and it will hit them right as their s run out. Or if you are using a slower weapon, you might try to predict when your opponent will panic roll and time your swing a bit earlier to the same effect. However if your opponent is light rolling, it doesn't matter if they time their roll incorrectly and roll early, because they cover so much distance they might as well not have any s at all, you will always be out of range of your opponents attack entirely so long as you roll backwards. It is impossible to punish a light roller for rolling poorly. This is why in the video Steel is spamming roll around the arena, it's to show that his opponents cannot punish him for doing something so silly, simply because of that extra distance the roll covers. One more thing to keep in mind, extra distance over the same amount of time means more speed. When light rolling you move very fast, almost as fast as sprinting, so when you take into account the stamina cost of sprinting, it's very difficult to catch someone using light roll just to move, and only a handful of weapons in the game are able to hit someone using light roll as a form of mobility, such as dual spears, Pata or potentially Heavy Thrusting Sword.
