Well, when you live on the relatively thin crust of a molten ball, that's hurtling through space in orbit around a giant fusion reactor. Shit is bound to happen from time to time.
Gerald L You've heard of me? Finally, the renown and prestige I deserve. It's not easy to make a name for yourself in seismology from a basement. If you'll pardon me, they're sliding my dinner under the door, I have to go.
Man drones are awesome. You'd never see a video with this type of camerawork 10 years ago. Unless someone spent a ton of time and money getting a helicopter to set up some aerial shots.
Since when did this quake become about Kaikoura? The epicenter was at Culverden. And if that's not bad enough Wellington is trying to worm it's way into the "lets make it about us" book too.
Well if you look at the shakemap of the quake on USGS the boxes show where the rupture propagated. Here earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us1000778i#shakemap
I don't watch TV anymore, that includes local news... but after the quake I was curious to see what they were saying about it. Sure enough, they were interviewing Aucklanders who felt the quake. Same old pathetic shit aye
Well, the very start of the rupturing happened down near Culverden, but then propagated north, meaning that the majority of the energy was actually released along the coast of the Kaikoura Ranges.
That is right sometimes the epicenter is not the area worst hit same as the mexico quake in 1980's mexico city got it worse then the coast due to the underground sediment.
The quake was like a small mega thrust earthquake it ruptured a tone of fault lines and even the ones that went offshore that is why there was a tsunami because the rupture went over the coast and some parts lifted 2 meters. earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us1000778i#shakemap

Yes there a place called Kekerengu. There a nice store / café there and some houses www.google.co.nz/maps/place/Kekerengu,+Clarence+7371/@-42.0023711,174.0069251,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x6d39bc02a7278cdb:0x94e8e80cd59e2b3b!8m2!3d-42.0023751!4d174.0091138?hl=en
You should immediately stop your personal contribution of carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere if you believe earthquakes are caused by climate change.

Aren't you a professional seismologist researcher who hates to leave his mothers basement?

Right, but shit has been piling up faster and harder in recent years than at any time in the modern era.
Man drones are awesome. You'd never see a video with this type of camerawork 10 years ago. Unless someone spent a ton of time and money getting a helicopter to set up some aerial shots.
i had that exact same thought!
say that again when you are running from a drone trying to kill you
hey guys, just got back from running away from a drone trying to kill me, they're awesome.
Its interesting to see the fault line follow the existing ridge.
The ridge is there because the fault has ruptured there before and uplifted it.
More of this please.
I wonder if that pond on the hillside at :30 form because of the Earthquake
Hi nice video where is the localisation of this footage on Google map please?
hi nice shot can you sow me on a map where is this place????
Better late than never. You can follow the fault south west from here:
-41.966937, 174.034261
That's the location of the last scene in the video.
wow, incredible!
Wow incredible!
Damn dwarves dug too deep again!
Well shot
Out of interest, what drone did you use ?
Phantom 4

Yea it should be about people near the quake zone.
Well, the very start of the rupturing happened down near Culverden, but then propagated north, meaning that the majority of the energy was actually released along the coast of the Kaikoura Ranges.
That is right sometimes the epicenter is not the area worst hit same as the mexico quake in 1980's mexico city got it worse then the coast due to the underground sediment.
why are they walking on ruptures. Remember the earth is soft beneath.
Thank you
Beautiful.
What is the carbon footprint of the drone?
3
What type of drone is this? The footage looks like a Phantom but I can't be sure.
Yes, it is a DJI Phantom 4. Cheers
This is a serious forecast of what times our earth is in. Stay prepd and safe, God bless

Kracky
There ain't no place called kekerengu. Whoever made this is not New Zealander!
Bubba bitty that what the fault is called its not the name of a place. there are plenty of faults in nz that don't have city names

Kekerengu is on SH 1, between Blenheim and Kaikoura.
Drone or not, no problem... Just art of failure...
Was this cause by global warming climate change disruption? I just has to have been. I'm weeping right now.
Are you? Really weeping?
It's an earth quake, not a storm.
You should immediately stop your personal contribution of carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere if you believe earthquakes are caused by climate change.
global warming and climate change has nothing to do with it.... actually climate change might have something to do with it
global warming and human accelerated climate change, also known as climate change are one in the same
