I remember cassava dumpling with anything curry was so delicious growing up. We would make bammy and starch..nothing from the cassava went to waste. You so delighted to see so many young Jamaicans In farming. The future looks good if this continues. Everyone person needs food. You really cannot loose when you enter the food industry….we should aim to grow enough to export to our neighbors….

Shan, A Good day to you and family. You need to get a low tri-legged stool to use in the garden for this elderly man or yourself when gardening. It is not good for him to bend in this way neither yourself you will trigger the start of backache leading to Sciatica.
Cassava can grow extremely large. I remember one being dug out by a family member when I was about 9 years old and we lived in Kingston. It was the largest one my Mum said she had ever seen and she was born in Bethel Town on a family farm.
You may also want to know that you can get SPAGHETTI MADE FROM CASSAVA FLOUR BUT IT'S CALLED SEMOLINA.
THEY ALSO REFER TO CORNMEAL AS POLENTA IN EUROPE, I THINK AS IT LOOKS LIKE POLLEN.
HAVE A GREAT DAY AND I ONLY WISH I WAS NEARBY AS I LOVE BOILED CASSAVA AS WELL AS BAMMY.
WHEN THEY WASHED THE CASSAVA,THEY USED TO LEAVE THE WATER IN A PAIL TO SETTLE THEN ONCE CLEAR AND THE RESIDUE OF THE WASHED GRATED CASSAVA WAS LEFT TO DRY OUT VIA EVAPORATION AND STORED IN A JAR TO BE USED WHEN NEEDED AS STARCH TO GIVE STIFFNESS TO COTTON CLOTHING AND BEDDING WHEN ADDED TO THE RINSING WATER. PEOPLE USE SPRAY STARCH THESE DAYS. HAVE A GOOD DAY ALL OF YOU.
This is us an elderly person make it looks easy.Work gives one purpose.Thank u sir
Lol ! Why are you telling the man business for ! ? Lol ! So proud of you farmers without you guys we couldn't eat . Thanks again

I don't know anything about farming but my mind tells me that it would be easier to uproot if you had mixed the soil with sand before planting. The dirt would not be so hard.
