It amazes me that people can say, "I find politics boring" or, "I'm not interested in politics". Do these people not realise politics literally decides the conditions of one's life and the life of everybody else and their children. Politics can be the difference between good working conditions or not, free healthcare or not, death or not, war or not. GET INTERESTED.
Politics are far interesting, but way complicated. It's hard to tell what is what, who lies, who doesn't, who steals less or more. According to my experiences that's why most people are not interested in politics, because they don't have the time to look up what is going on as the available information is overwhelmingly vast. Noah Chomsky said politicians didn't want decision-makers, they just wanted political spectators who can't put together their limited resources to change the system.
OdinMMA this is the truest statement I have read in a while. When someone says to me „I don’t care about politics“ I already know they are kinda stupid
I'm highly sensitive and politics are such a shark tank, I find it stressful to dive into politics. Who lies, who tells the truth.. And you have to do a lot of research if you want to get to the bottom of things.

In the UK most people I think would struggle to discuss a political topic like this on the street without having much time to think about it (well, maybe except for one big issue at the moment, which I don't want to mention. . . ! 😖).

Genau! Leider ist das so in vielen Laender. People don't pay attention until a truly wicked group is in power. The guy with the ASMR voice :) nailed it IMHO: the concerns of the average person matters little to gov't only the concerns of industry (aka capital). It's remarkable and sad how this easily occurs in so-called "democratic" countries who claim they have exceptional or better institutions compared to the undemocratic nations they belittle.

Edit: I just realised this may be understood as something other than what I mean to say. What I mean is there is a certain German politician still in the active who is not at all beloved by most Europeans. We all know who that is. And yes diversity is good, but insecurity and disruption of peaceful civic life is not. So I am not at all talking about other German politicians from the past who were immeasurably worse and thankfully are dead and gone. Peace.

@caty moonlight not quite. As a german I think there is some serious public pressure to keep your head down and accept the mainstream politics, it's enforced by the state owned media.
@caty moonlight You can say it because you still agree with the basic axioms of mainstream politics, such as that we live in a democracy or that Merkel is good in principle. We have a certain calculated freedom within the system of globalist capitalism in which you can "disagree" and argue about trivialities all day long.

Aless British it is not incoherent and sometimes crazy. All have their own ideas and they are not open-minded to discuss each other.
Obliviously , we have phenomenas as Berlusconi and Salvini, but the country need a good administration and less words.

Right wing populism is a big problem here. The majority of the population is old and convinced fascism was not so bad after all because Mussolini was a patriot and they are very nationalists. They think african/east european/gipsie immigrants are the problem of the country and Europe is bad and takes away our freedom. Young people, which are the minority and more educated and open minded, understand that the problems are not immigrants but the management of the immigration and the exclusion that lead some immigrants to work for crime and mafia, also young people don't have jobs and a future because our politicians are incompetent so the crysis and unemployment are still strong, the government doesn't care about youth so many young people leave the country. They'll never be able to change anything because old people are the majority.

Surprised no one answered from a historical perspective such as Willy Brandt or Konrad Adenauer, unfortunately in the U.K. we don’t hear much about german politicians other than Mrs. Merkel. Although when German politicians are interviewed on british tv they all speak excellent English, never subtitled except Mrs Merkel. I think Mrs Merkel spoke in English to joint houses of U.K. parliament?

In der Zentrale für politische Bildung kann man viele Bücher, Zeitschriften, Karten kostenlos erhalten. Die Themen sind unterschiedlich von Politik bis Wirtschaft, Geschichte, Kultur usw. Leider ist das Sprachniveau sehr hoch, C1 würde ich sagen, trotzdem finde ich es großartig, dass man sich kostenlos und ausführlich bilden kann.

schon bevor das Video losgeht denke ich mir "ok mach dich darauf gefasst, dass du dir sehr oft an den Kopf fasst." Dass manche nur Angela Merkel kennen, sagt mir einiges über die Mehrheitsverhältnisse unter den Parteien und wie diese zustande kommen. Und für den Satz "Ich interessiere mich eigentlich garnicht für Politik" sollte sich jeder Bürger einer demokratischen Gesellschaft zutiefst schämen.
Die Meisten wissen doch gar, dass diese Frau Merkel dieses Land seit fast 10 Jahren in den Ruin treibt. Noch sieht es gut aus. Aber die werden alle noch ihr blaues Wunder erleben.

Which means 76% of the total population that can vote, has voted.

technically only a few people voted for Merkel. Her election district has 240 887 people who can vote. 70.4% actually voted in 2017. Out of those 44% voted for Merkel. Less than 75 000 people voted for Merkel plus those of the parliament who voted for her later in the election of the chancellor

CDU is the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, a conservative polictial party and one of the two governmental parties.
CDU was a conservative party which left its former voters base in order to get more powerful. In the process they created the fascist AfD.
CDU is also famous for its history of corruption. As a joke CDU is sometimes transcribed as "Club Deutscher Unternehmer" [Club of german entrepreneurs] because their bonds with industry and capitalists are so tight.
Philip Amthor is a fine member of CDU becauae as it turns out now he was involved in some shady finance business overseas. Together with Gutenberg (politician who had to quit his job because of a fake exam) and Maas (politician who had to quit his job because of his sympathy with fascists).
