Operates at the scale 44+ knots! Akula's were wicked fast and consequently screaming loud on a sonar when at speed. Anything churning and burning at that speed would be for several reasons. When training at sonar school on simulators the instructors cleaned my clock using a pair of Akulas as bait. I had screaming bright green lines across the operators display that could be seen across the room. I sent my Seahawk helicopters to drop sonobouys on them and then drop torpedoes once triangulation gave a clear idea of the type and location of the sub. Wonderful except for the third Diesel Electric sub that was waiting inside the battle group that had fired off torpedoes at a cruiser and destroyer and then it proceeded to sink the carrier, game over. Lesson learned.
Now, isn't this the remarkable creature which has a hull of titanium? And a reactor, cooled with liquid metal? And helmsman drives her with a yolk, like aircraft... Interesting, this "Akula", (Shark) is a fast attack sub, thus not carrying a payload of ICBM's. Unlike the other "Akula" AKA the Typhoon class, which boasted some 24 or so, ICBM's, each able to annihilate a city! I think they managed to build six of these leviathan's prior to the wall falling down!
Welcome back from your Holiday vacation, not only me but all of us have missed your videos
Drooling and crying.... Simply perfect !!!
