  • Le Redoutable (meaning fearsome or formidable) is the largest visitable submarine in the world, at La Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. This 128 m long submarine could house 135 crew members for missions of 70 days without seeing the surface again. Disarmed and denuclearized, it was set up for the visit at the opening of La Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg in the 2000s.
