Indeed. He truly needs so much external works to make him as a damage dealer. . . But, just like Blue-Eyes deck who needs its other members to make it workable, so does Sigurd. Once players manage to give some proper buffs and strategies, he can screw the rules for he is the Kaiba's incarnation.
I think what Gamepress probably means is that even though with all the pre-buffs and all the buffs in the first four turns from the NPCs, he would still have a hard time surviving this fight on his own. And the external helps he requires, as shown in this video, is super expensive as well. Not everyone has a Merlin, Nero Bride and Waver to swing around lol.

Nice video. Your setup is a good reference for me to 3 turn this fight. I just need to work around the Waver and Bunyan since I don't have both of them. Turns out Gil Caster and good card RNG can gain enough NP for that 2nd Sigurd NP.
Can we all agree that they did Surtr dirty in the servant department, almost every lostbelt King can be summoned except Surtr and the Greek gods And it pisses me off
Also, Gods can't simply become Servants unless they have vessels (e.g Pseudo-Servants). They're way too powerful even for a Divine Spirit Saint Graph. That case fits even more for LB5 King Zeus, who's literally the chief god of the Greek myths.

I soloed it with jeanne too but I had no problem with his crits. I was able to keep spamming Jeanne np so much that the boss damage is unable to keep up with jeanne np healing and shield. I manage to defeat the boss slowly in 36 turns
Semi solo Surt with Jeanne siguard, Jeanne and Benkai in the front Leo George and fuuma Jeanne had Gentle affection (want to make her survive longer but I could've use something stronger for dmg) Benkai and leo had Divine princess George had Ideal holy king And fuuma had be Elegant (didn't have any Star CE and didn't want to run 2030 because I needed him dead the next turn) Took too long because I didn't have a lot of dmg on Jeanne and her skills are useless except her star Gen one and I didn't use a command spell and I used the Atlas Institute Mystic Code Ruin of Isis for the Surt burn effect off if Jeanne's NP still low Dust of Osiris too either block Surt NP or use it to keep Jeanne alive or give her more HP considering the Ruler class defense Advantage is strong And finally use Eyes of Medjed it might be useless but it still good to bring Jeanne Star gen ready
I died many times using 5 bronze apple only to realize i didnt buff sigurd with np gain since i have no nero bride. So tried again using avicebrown np to buff his np gain and i didnt need command seal now. Lol feel stupid
This fight is literally impossible for me to do and support is useless. Tried multiple combinations, but nothing works. I feel its needlessly difficult.

Paracelsus is a great substitute for Nero Bride. You can easily get him since he's a 3* Caster.
