Also, all of those bigger toolkits, like army toolkit can maintain barrel from any condition, but you lose a charge. JUST CLICK THE FUCKING DETAILS :)
With 0.91 you dont need to pay or talk to technician to use a workbench anymore. You can just walk to it and use it. Also you can rightclick tools in inventory and use it without workbench at all. On the go. Anywhere at the map. That is very useful with ammo creation kit. Part to create ammo weight is alot less than ammo weight. So you disassemble unwanted ammo and craft ammo when you become low on them. Also you can receive first set of tools for 20 nemiroff vodka at Yantar givin vodka to local food merchant. And you can get another set of basic tools by completing Hip's first quest in Rookie village (quest for bringing her a TOZ shotgun and some buckshot) IMaybe I missed that point in the video but lvl 3 toolkit only can be found in zones above Army Warehouses - Limansk, Red forest, Radar etc. Also there is a mod in MCM menu called Autolooter. It can be configured to automatically strip and grab all usable parts, so you just open a body and press ALT (by default when autolooter is on) and it grabs all stuff, strip 60%+ weapon parts, and you can even tell the mod to autodisassemble guns with 60%+ barrels and armors that have 50%+ parts (armor parts repair threshold is lower than weapons) or parts that can be used in crafting.

you can also right click onto a weapon and then favorite parts> favorite parts that are below 60%, then the parts you need are favorited and have priority in the auto looter by opening the loot menu and pressing left-alt, favorite parts will appear on top of your own inventory if looted , the autolooter is great for people that are new to the game because its basically looting all the things that can be useful for you and leaving broken stuff behind , this is for items and parts , if you want to use a weapon to rebuild then first loot the weapon before you press left alt when looting

i did not see this in the video but there is even another way to repair a barrel , and it does not matter what % the barrel is , as long as you have the correct toolkit for the weapon you can right click the weapon maintain parts>replace barrel, this will basically delete the old part and give you a 100% at the cost of one charge of your toolkit , as said in the video use this with caution because the toolkits are your keys to progressing in this game and if the charges are at zero the toolkit is deleted meaning you need to find or craft another toolkit
Free workbench access is only useful early game when you have no tools but want to repair something like the overcoat, basic military armour, or a pistol. Once you have any toolkit you won't need a workbench at all. Simply right click on any toolkit (basic, advanced, expert, gunsmithing, drugmaking), select "open workbench" and you'll have access to the crafting/repair/upgrade menu. Also higher tier tools will include low tier tools in them; that is, Advanced tools will also contain Basic tools. So you only need ever carry the most advanced toolkit you can find.

Thanks a lot, I am not somebody who played vanilla anomaly to completion or got into many of the systems like crafting because it didn't seem necessary, so overall I have no clue what I am doing for most of these mechanics even in the vanilla game but you explained everything perfectly. Just like that fellow in the beginning, I have been putting off playing this because all the tutorial videos are like an hour+ and/or extremely vague or poorly explained.
I wonder, if in the 0.9.1 bulid, the cheapest headgear - facerag, or whatever it was called, still is used as repair supportive material. In GAMMA build 0.9 facerag was OP supportive material, better than kerosene or tarpouline. It had a highest % repair boost with every gun cleanng kit or armor sewing kits. In 0.9 i ended up just scavenging guns with 60%+ condition barrel, than i just swapped the other gun parts for 60%+ replacements. Rest of the repairs i've done through the "maintain parts" option, using up the >10% gun cleaning kits charges. This way, not only the each separate part condition, but overall gun condition also was restored. The files, ramrods, steel wools and industrial grease i was using for crafting expensive repair kits, this way i didn't have to buy them. I would say, that even from the start, what i was doing, is the most streamlined way to get a really good gun restored quickly.
I always use a rope before duct tape when repairing armour. They have the same repair bonus and ropes are way easier to come by. I think I have 20+ ropes and maybe only 5 or 6 duct tapes. Late game, when you have enough containers I often use hammers who has a +5 repair bonus.

Masks and bandanas give most cost effective bonus when used with glue ect. for armor repair in my experience. They are abundant (more so then duct tape) and give higher bonus (I think... I modded some values for myself, but I do not think I changed those).
Was just gunna say this. Farm bandits foe their face masks and unless I am badly in need of the cloth parts I never disassemble for the fact that they give so much repair bonus.
I'm new to Gamma, but I immediately started looking at the repair system in terms of vendor value. Since you can always get various repair tools from vendors, and they sell them pretty much at stated values, you can think of many repairs as cost per percent. For example steel wool, in terms of value, might be unnecessary. It is around 800 from vendor and gives around 8 = 100 per percent. Not terrible, but sharpening stone is 35 per percent when fixing multitool. So when in comfort of a base with vendor some combos might be better. In emergency you might be limited by number of uses left in tools thought. Also the cost of replacement parts from vendors is very high, especially for lower tier common ones - but always do the math, I think in some cases buying this part from vendor might be better
When crafting kevlar plates or whatever items for the belt, or backpacks, etc. the condition of the materials used does not matter ( even like 1% parts count ), so it is best to never sell armor parts.
When you use the weapon cleaning kits to maintain parts that are installed in the weapon it also increases the weapon cleanliness by 10% this can be used to get you out of the expensive repair range easier if you repair the parts through "Maintain parts" before increasing the weapon overall cleanliness.
I understand how this can be REALLY hard for new players to wrap around but the crafting and durability system in GAMMA is one of the things that got me into playing it on the first place. The feeling that I get after scavenging a lot for parts to just finally being able to pick a full 100% armor and gun is unmatched till this day!

Dont have to use duct tape constantly too, if you break down enemy armor they sometimes gives like mil textiles that also gives 3% repair bonus like duct tape for free😊
Has anything changed since then? I can't "maintain parts" without the appropriate repair kit, it seems. The option isn't available to me, when right clicking on the weapon. Great tutorial though. Still have to watch it occasionally to remember how things work and what the most efficient strategies are.

Guess there is no maintain parts in right click for barrel here 😊 ..only filmstrip for other parts. Guess here u have to go to work bench for that. 😊 Anyway all this info came so late... Cause currently I am trapped in merc base in dead city and around 30 or so monolith downstair fighting few left merc. And I just have a sawed 12 bore.. which I found very clumsy to load (slow) unlike in Stalker Anomaly. Where its okay if u have that gun not so bad senario. Plus enemy armour here seem more tough. So 12 bore not so avantageous here as there. Except that I have few multiround buckshot guns and a 7.62x51 mm gun fully reapired though some B, C type repair things. I was very happy that I got good gun that easily here that thing soon got demolished when a monolith came up I fired at him my first 100% condition gun choked after two shots and he was still standing ..I switched to other one ..fired 2 more buck shots and that choked again ...and that bloody monolith was still on his feat... Though lil in shock but with 50% health 😅 ..and he ran away downstairs. 😅 Then I wondered why those 100% gun choked that I came to know thier parts still damaged though its condition is 100%. 😂 That I came to youtube for repair guide. 😊 But seems me too late for that in this game. Cause I had so much time before this new mass attack by monolith and so much bodies and guns lying thier from previous encounter. I just picked best of few of my liking and repaired them with I dunno what some ABC type repair kit that I found on bodies. But seems like it was half work. Had I not ignored duplicates and cared for best parts from them I wud at least have one function multiround buck shot gun with me. I got all the bullets.. I got file, ramrod clealing solvents everything... Just not the parts.. since all these were lting there in ground floor where 30 or so monoliths are fighting now. I am on 2nd floor in medic room. But dunno how can I escape the fight.. and more how to fight all that platoon with just one double barrel clumsy shotgun that takes years to reload and aint that effective as I was supposing it to be. I am playing actualy warfare ironman mode as ecologist. But couldnt start at my favorite location jupiter cause gamma dont allow it. So I came here from Yantar to make it my base after monolith murder all merc. 😅 Cause at Yantar there is no ammo supplier. So Army ware house or this deadcity seems a good choice for me. Actually I aim to move ro yanov station in jupitor but it and redforest are all monolith by now. So wud have to wait here till I get some decent weapon and armour to fight through those teritories. Anyway most probably this the end ..maybe I wud have to restart a new game and keep those things in mind next time. 😅 God help me... It wud be miracle if I survive this one. 😂
Weapon condition has changed in GAMMA 0.9.1. Weapon condition is no longer separate from part condition. Replacing parts in a workbench with 100% parts will end with the weapon being 100% condition. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended.
U know...we still hanging on! Just have this Yanov station as base rest of Jupiter is all monolith now.. but good thing is I finally able to complete at least one basic gun i.e. SPAS-12 😊 ..So we have Lil bit fire power now and those buckshots now come in use in this. 😊 Actually its not my doing but our guys really fought hard...now I think my time to start stepping in too. 😊 Now the current problem is how to despose of all the dead bodies cluttering in our base. For that I guess I need to go some distance and capture at least some point. And got to manage it all within the next attack which are keep coming continuosly. Maybe I should go capture near by abandon railway station. 😊 Guess successfuly done that ...but that was a close call. Jus reached back in time.😊 Actually the thing is too much bodies and game goes on in crashing mode. U try save and it will crash u try this and it will crash. So need to clear it from time to time. Too much bodies does more then jus making chaos. 😊
Idk why but none of my technicians will upgrade past level 4, and I have already given them all three tool kits. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
all the stashes are empty, how do you get stashes? Do you have to do missions? Ive been playing for days, but my weapons suck and missions are impossible with a sawed off and a pistol... so i need better guns, to get better guns i need toolkits, to get toolkits i need to do missions, but my weapons suck so bad they are impossible, lol. I did notice you explained how to fix the barrels without the toolkits. I will try that, now I'll just need to make my ammo, because the ammo i need isnt sold. Let me guess... to make the ammo i need toolkits ?!?
O yes I guess there is one chance ...though not 100% sure. My sawed buck shot is also 12 bore ..so what if these are the same part that multiround 12 bore uses... Use to be in Stalker Anomaly... Then I can rip those parts and replace them in my multishot gun. One of it contains a 76% barrel condition and a 8 shot gun.... Its my starting weappn I bought at yantar so almost good condition still. Guess then I can manage those goons if I ambush them from this top floor room. At least thier is chance that I can repel this attack and recapture this as ecologist base.... Otherwise its all doom! 😂 Actually I am scared going back to game that I am wasting time devicing tricks here. But this have chance however thin it might be. So lets try it before it sure late.. cause I may have few minutes still before they charge here or het this base captured cause then thier medic will spawn here and killing him will trigger the BATTLE ROYALE! 😂

Holy shit. I have 300+ hours in GAMMA and I didn't know about the part swap....

Weapon condition has changed in GAMMA 0.9.1. Weapon condition is no longer separate from part condition. Replacing parts in a workbench with 100% parts will end with the weapon being 100% condition. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended.

U know...we still hanging on! Just have this Yanov station as base rest of Jupiter is all monolith now.. but good thing is I finally able to complete at least one basic gun i.e. SPAS-12 😊 ..So we have Lil bit fire power now and those buckshots now come in use in this. 😊

And got to manage it all within the next attack which are keep coming continuosly. Maybe I should go capture near by abandon railway station. 😊

Actually the thing is too much bodies and game goes on in crashing mode. U try save and it will crash u try this and it will crash. So need to clear it from time to time. Too much bodies does more then jus making chaos. 😊
Idk why but none of my technicians will upgrade past level 4, and I have already given them all three tool kits. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

all the stashes are empty, how do you get stashes? Do you have to do missions? Ive been playing for days, but my weapons suck and missions are impossible with a sawed off and a pistol... so i need better guns, to get better guns i need toolkits, to get toolkits i need to do missions, but my weapons suck so bad they are impossible, lol.
I did notice you explained how to fix the barrels without the toolkits. I will try that, now I'll just need to make my ammo, because the ammo i need isnt sold. Let me guess... to make the ammo i need toolkits ?!?

O yes I guess there is one chance ...though not 100% sure. My sawed buck shot is also 12 bore ..so what if these are the same part that multiround 12 bore uses... Use to be in Stalker Anomaly... Then I can rip those parts and replace them in my multishot gun. One of it contains a 76% barrel condition and a 8 shot gun.... Its my starting weappn I bought at yantar so almost good condition still. Guess then I can manage those goons if I ambush them from this top floor room. At least thier is chance that I can repel this attack and recapture this as ecologist base.... Otherwise its all doom! 😂
Actually I am scared going back to game that I am wasting time devicing tricks here. But this have chance however thin it might be.
