@@SamsTrains The gunpowder vans that 1361 hit had a chain reaction happen inside the van. That's why the explosion didn't happen instantly.

I think you should perform tests on sprung and unsprung loco chassis. In theory a 6-wheel rigid chassis can only contact the track at 3 points, making reliability dicey. A sprung centre axle means 5-point contact. If the chassis is true to within .001 inch, and also the track, you may occasionally do better than 3 or 5-point contact. I have had several slightly warped chassis, over the years, even from new, which actually rock slightly on the centre axle, and this certainly does spell trouble - a situation I have retrieved by fitting springs and giving the centre axle some upward freedom in the chassis. I can hardly get my DJ 14xx to run at all because of this.
I think you should look at chassis alignment when reviewing models, especially the fully rigid ones. I know you are dismissive of sprung axles, but experience over many years suggests that you should credit manufacturers for including them. You wouldn’t believe how much more reliable (not necessarily refined!!!) my old Mainline 57xx is even now (modified with lots of springs), compared with out of the box models such as the Hornby 61xx, and even to some extent the Dapol 41xx - this had problems with the pony wheel frames being hard up against the chassis at all times, despite some lovely coil springs which Dapol had fitted - they didn’t allow the requisite upward movement, which I subsequently carefully provided, and transformed the running.
Great video Sam I always enjoy watching your different engines at work. You have such a great inventory and the great variety of years it is like a historical trip through time. Can not wait for your videos this year.
Most DCC-decoders support analogue DC, they just cannot go very slow in this mode.
Perhaps the "Christmas war train" is a reference to the Christmas truce of WW1.
When did you get the 33037 Q1? I thought you only had C24 and 33009

I noticed, with the King class in the first 3, that it's wheels were slipping rather than the motor stalling. Maybe the slow performance wasn't totally due to the motor this time

Do you know why R30225SS BR, Stanier 5MT 'Black 5', 4-6-0, 44726 With Steam Generator - Era 5 has be now put back to be released in 2024-25, I paid for a preorder 12 months ago so it could be 3 years to wait for this. Hornby failing yet again.

Thanks for the video. Lots of bright combinations to brighten up January. It was great to see Gladstone and Copper Knob running with the 4 wheel coaches. They really are great looking in combinations like that. Blessings for the New Year and all the projects to come.

Really great to have something to watch for second coffee on my day off. I'd completely forgotten I'd requested Gladstone so that was a lovely surprise, she really is a beauty. You should deffo do one in a different livery or perhaps go for something else in the National Collection? What about an era one item of stock with compatible couplings/coupling mounts to go with rocket/lion?

It’s not chrismas
I got some more creative requests coming up, Sam. Some American, some British. Also 1361...that was hilarious. Must have been some slow reactive explosives in the vans.

For Christmas I got a borsley junction brakevan great model (Oxford rail not Hornby) inside and outside detail, another model for my collection witch is the crimson king f.p mining company a small coach and the brakevan I mentioned, also this was a great model, could you 3-d print a A-4 but put it in a Sam's train livery? Also any Murphy modules this year?? :)

A great, if tangential way to allow the conspiratory commenters of the "don't believe a word, they're all in the pocket of the manufacturers this lot" school, to realise that you'd have boxes of controllers to hand.
Go to the head of the queue for your honesty. Lesser mortals would have shunted the issue into a disused siding and binned the request altogether.
