I don’t know how many pens I’ve thrown out because I thought it was dried up, I am so glad you’ve shown us these tips and tricks to get it to work again. I love my gel pens and I am so grateful to know it can be done and how to do it.
I never knew you could remove the nibs of gel pens, just did that to clean out a few of my retractable ones. I realized that I could also use this trick if I wanted to change the tip size (put an 0.5 tip in a 0.7 pen, for example) if they are the same pen so the nibs fit. Thanks so much!
I had one like the blue one. After cleaning the nib, I soaked the whole ink tube in warm water and then spun it (whole pen reassembled, ballpoint out) in a bag. Totally worked! Got all the ink to the ballpoint end and the air bubbles to the other side.
My pens didn't have bubbles like that third pen, but even after trying what was shown in the video, they remained dry. That was, until I tried your trick. I bought these pens two years ago right when they came out, and they have been dry from the beginning. Still, I held onto them since they still had so much ink. Though I didn't soak the tubes, just got straight to spinning. Works like a charm, thank you so much for sharing!
I wasn't sure if this would work because my gel glitter pen stopped working in the middle of the artwork, but the first trick itself worked thank you so much for the help ❤️ Liked 🌟
OMG, I wish I saw this yesterday, LOL. Now I'm going to go get all the gel pens I just tossed in the garbage in my craft room and try this!! Thank you for the great tips! =)
I tried _so_ many other 'hacks' to fix some pens that were giving me trouble and this is the ONLY one that actually worked! My only addition was using an eye dropper to put just the tiniest drop of water into the ink tube to rehydrate any thickened gel further up above the tip and help get the flow started again. Like magic, they all work again. ♥
I was looking for this comment. I thought the same thing. When my son was younger and would have seen me putting a pen in my mouth. Guess what would happened 😂.
I found I did not even need to remove the silver tip, i just took ink tube out of cylinder and popped it into a small 1/4 container of water. The gel began to flow... and no messy dealing with metal tip.
Omg thank you I have a white gel pen that had so much ink but never worked I tried everything but I saw your video cause I decided to look it up and it finally works again thank you 😭💕💕💕
Shoots. I just threw a handful of these away the other day during my decluttering. I'm not a gel pen fan. Thanks! (You could also try holding a lighter flame under the tip.)
Yes that’s an AMAZING REMEDY. Unfortunately, a good amount of people end up melting their pens in the process- I’m meaning those who are not precise while using the flame. It’s not dangerous if you know what you are doing.
shame i didn t come across this video before i get rid of lot of my pens that didn t work but i am glad i can use it for future and save lot of them from same fate
Wow, I've been buying the same pens I love over and over again because they keep dying and I just throw them out and this is gonna change my life hahahah thank you
I actually managed to revive my gel pens another way! So my gel pen was from smiggle and they have like a ring around the ink tube and then the tip of the pen, I just pulled the whole top of it off (including the ring around it ima call it a stopper) and ink came onto my fingers, so then I assembled it again and it worked! I don’t know if I explained this clearly, but if this doesn’t work for anyone this might help :)

Just tried this on my air filled metallic blue. I'm so happy I didn't throw it out. Works like new!! 🎉
This is such a pet peeve of mine! My pens clearly have so much ink in it but fails to work, thank you so much for this 😂
I have the Staples brand that have not been used in several years. I cannot get the nibs out so I blew into the back end. And it worked. Thank you😊
Bless! You just saved two of my oldest gel pens from a very sad throw out!
I wasn't sure if this would work because my gel glitter pen stopped working in the middle of the artwork, but the first trick itself worked thank you so much for the help ❤️ Liked 🌟
What a helpful video!!! I am glad I found it before I threw out any more of my vintage marble gel pens! Thanks!!

Thank you! I have tried this technique too to revive my clogged ballpoint pens and they all work now like new!

Wow so easy! Such a valuable tip, thank you - I'm serious 😄

Thank you sooo much, this really does work, I just need to remember to put the writing tip back on the pen before I. Low on it, what a mess! LOL
Thanks!! I was thinking I'd have to buy another set & toss out my bad ones. Cool beans!!
omg Tysm! I love my gel pens and I was wondering why the other pen hacks weren’t working

Thank you very much for the tip, it certainly worked and get back to finishing my colouring in.
If the green one didnt work, you could swap the tip of another “non clogged” tip of a pen when that pen is finished
Great idea!
This revived my pens! THANK YOU
Thank you! I have a big set of them new but dry, and now I will be able of work with th3m.
I use a needle and clean out tip.. And then wipe w rubbing alcohol.. Works great

I have not found that heat (flame) trick helps unclog gel pens.
Thank you soo much
If I haven't seen this video I would have thrown my whole gel pen set
Thank you for your video,I got my gel pens working again♥️❤️
shame i didn t come across this video before i get rid of lot of my pens that didn t work but i am glad i can use it for future and save lot of them from same fate

This is exactly what I needed! My Metallic pen is full of ink, but it won't write. . I'm trying this.
I can't wait to try this on my pens!!

Yay! It worked! Thanks a lot. I'll try my other ones that have problems now.
IT WORKED! WHAT A LIFE SAVER!!!
Awesomeness esp the blow trick with Sargent gel pens. Thank you much! 😊😊😊
You can give them a good shake. Holding at the end of the shaft and whip the point down and away from you
Oh yes! I do exactly that too! 😄 They then work for a while... then I find that I have to shake them again after every few sentences 😿
Thank you so much!!!! I saved my gel pens.
Thx. Im going to try my new pen. Not sure if its gel or not.
Thanks you've saved a pen I was enjoying but was getting frustrated with!
This may save my old gel pens. Let's see...
Thank you very much with your idea I got my glitter pen work thank you very much again ☺️☺️
Thank you! I’ll never toss a “dry” pen full of ink again. 😁
Writing on wet paper will also help to fish out more ink when it's just starting to run.
Thank you, thank you THANK YOU! Was about to toss several old ones... *Phew...* :D
Thank you so much for posting this. It totally worked.

I tried with other pens it worked but why not the jumbo xo ones
Works well with use and throw ball pens too ??
So they are water soluble base ink .
It must depend on how dry they actually are and other factors. I just did this and mine are not doing anything still. 😔
You can even do it in another trick on your stove or lighter and put the metal point on the fire and keep it for 5 seconds and done it works
Thankyou so much sister this helped me a. Lot thankyou so much
Thank you so much, was in the middle of taking notes and my favorite pen started to die on me.
