The bald look is growing on me. Also Thanks for all you've done over the years I know you were pretty bummed about the new things you were trying to do not quite working. I hope you continue to enjoy doing your current content and hope your next inspiration you find works out!(But please keep doing Nostalgia Critic for awhile at least).
I'm gonna point this out, even though I know you two were probably tanked at the end of this. Why do you even ask Rob if he has seen worse movies, you made him sit through Food Fight! You KNOW he has seen the worst movie in the history of modern movies.
Channel Awesome yes the comics are much much much much much... Much more better than this turd of a adaptation I recommend the blackest night ark ore the blue lantern comics if you guys were interested
Doug Walker: “I want to make sure that this is bad right!?” Seriously Martin (Campbell) how can you go from Goldeneye and the Zorro movies to this unholy abomination? Casino Royale definitely makes up for GL.
@@facelessdragon1404 i love the animated series. Got the first half (rage of the red lanterns) on dvd, cant seem to find the second half (manhunter menace) on dvd anywhere.
6:46 Fun fact, that wasn't Peter Saarsgard using his telekinesis, that was just the student trying to escape the movie. I'd jump out of my desk too if I found out I had signed to be an extra in this Green Lantern film.
It's uncanny how well Rob can predict shitty jokes in shitty movies, its almost like his future self travelled back in time to ghost write them all as a way to fuck with himself.
There's a giant alien death cloud which eats worlds. A helicopter crashes into a celebration party. A terribly forced romantic subplot. A lesser villain who's jealous of the hero's success. This is the second Fantastic 4 movie all over again. Only worse.
Some guy I think it’s a result of Hollywood’s indecisiveness, they want to adapt the comics but they don’t want it to look silly and in their minds, giant cloud monsters is something the public can take seriously ...worth a reminder Hollywood also once thought that Deadpool should have his mouth sown shut, it took the actor fighting back to prove them wrong
1:42 Welp. Yeah. Gonna comment on this now. Yeah. Deadpool 2's end credits showed Deadpool Shooting Ryan Reynolds in the head when holding the script of Green Lantern. Well done Doug. You predicted that ages before this.
you know how they made a joke about an alternate ending for x-men origins where they add in that scene from deadpool 2, imagine if they did the same for this movie except it just opens with Ryan Reynolds getting shot and then the movie just cuts to an hour and a half of deadpool doing a review on the movie, IDK about you but i’d definitely pay to see that
Because we gotta use those big name screenwriters! The same ones who use the "if ain't broke don't fix it" method of lazy screenwriting. Rather than tell a solitary story we gotta cram in references, set up more movies and hope that just that will carry a weak script.
@nolandavis1129 😲What?? You've gotta be kidding me! Actually, you know who'd be good at writing a live action DC? Greg Weisman, the guy who did Young Justice. He already nailed Spectacular Spider-Man and gave us Disney's Gargoyles.
Nebula had a better arc in GotG2 than Hal in Green Lantern. The tertiary character serving as a foil to a secondary character went further as a person in what little screen time she had. Hell, the unripe fruit she tried to eat had more payoff than this movie!
I think the worst part about this movie is that it's so generic. Like the characterization of Killowag and Sinestro was correct, but wow do they do a whole lot of nothing. Also nice tease at the end guys why are we supposed to care if we barely now anything. Parallax was so bad in this as well. Like way to use a villain that could have been saved for later. Like all they needed to do was take Green Lantern Secret Origin and do that. It sets up future villains and gives a view into the eventuality of the war of light in the comics.
ARGiammarco 27 yeah that's probably the thing that annoyed me most in this movie, WE BARELY GET TO SEE OA. I love Kilowag, he's one of my favorite Lanterns (I barely care about Sinestro even outside of this movie). See, at least the Green Lantern animated series got things right with not actually going through the "how he got his ring" and just setting you down in the middle of Hal's adventures. People can figure out pretty easily that "oh, he has a ring, he's a Lantern, but he's still pretty new to the whole thing though he's getting the hang of it as he goes, and he actually has friends in the Lanterns".
2011 was a pretty crucial year for Marvel, DC and Fox. Marvel had Thor and Captain America, DC had Green Lantern and Fox had X-Men: First Class. Unfortunately for DC it was them that failed that year while the other two succeeded with their films having solid bases for the franchise to continue.
The only thing that I liked about this movie, was the dude that played Sinestro looked like Sinestro from the comic book. I'm a pretty big Green Lantern fan, but this movie stunk. And yes Doug, the comics are better than this...
I pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of Green Lanternism. & to this shitty movie, for which it stands, one nation, under a bad studio's decision, completely indivisible, with diminishing returns for all. Best pledge ever.

roarshach13 they couldn’t even make an Homage to the inspiration of the guardians of the universe! They just look... ugly. Prime Minister David Ben Gurion wasn’t a Beaty Padgett queen, but he looked better then those ugly fuckers
This came out around the same time as X-Men First Class. How do I remember this? I watched First Class earlier that week with my family. My friends and I went to watch Green Lantern on the weekend, and walked out halfway through to go watch First Class. Green Lantern was such a chore to sit through.
Brendan Milburn actually he started at Marvel with Blade Trinity then X-Men Origins Wolverine then to DC Green Lantern then to Dark Horse RIPD then back to Marvel with Deadpool.
Marcel Edel, darn right it is. I don't even read dc comics but blackest night was freaking amazing. And they didn't even have Hal Jordan or John Stewart
This feels like it belongs in the early 2000's era of superhero movies alongside films like Daredevil and Fantastic Four (2005). It feels like such a product of that era that I had actually forgotten it came out in 2011 and assumed it was from that era until Doug mentioned it being released in 2011 in the review

Best part was when Rob predicted the "class dismissed" line.
He is a god!
That was fucking hilarious! ^_^
this aint his first shit movie rodeo
Same thing happened to me when I saw Grown-Ups for the first time and "predicted" the line where Kevin James orders food when they go out to eat.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"Oh no if only I had my fireproof jacket!"
XD
One of the best parts
Just the segue between the prior scene and Rob saying that was perfect 😂
I love how Rob predicted that class dismissed line 😂
Me too, but what I love more is their reaction to it.

"Mister Reynolds! Action!"

We need the people who wrote for the DC animated shows to write for these movies
Because we gotta use those big name screenwriters! The same ones who use the "if ain't broke don't fix it" method of lazy screenwriting. Rather than tell a solitary story we gotta cram in references, set up more movies and hope that just that will carry a weak script.
