    This is am excellent tip. Implementing the best workflows from the other DAWs in reaper is a big win.

      Thanks buddy! I appreciate you very much! Do you work in any other DAWs? Lemme know if you have stuff in mind I can fiddle with :)

      @@IDDQDSound Just reaper with VCV Rack and Pure Data. One thing in reaper I helped someone with a few days ago was doing parallel processing in a single FX chain using JS router and mixer. Getting the settings right in each Plugin Pin Connector is quite tricky. Most people don't realise there are 64 audio channels (32 stereo) per track.

      @@mageprometheus Yeah definitely gonna cover that in a video of its own, though between you and me, I still prefer to use tracks. It's a bit engrained in me as an old-school DAW user haha :)

      @@IDDQDSound Things are a little easier now with the Track Wiring Diagram showing the FX Chain channels and pin connections but not as good as Patcher in FL Studio. I have the beta patcher VST from image-line called Mini-host Modular but it's poor and never going to leave beta. Blue Cat's Patchwork and Plug 'n' Script are too simplistic. DDMF MetaPlugin is wonderful as is Bidule. NI Reactor of course.

      @@mageprometheus I did a big rant on Track wiring once. It's the only thing I don't like about Reaper. I think it needs a lot more features and dedicated hotkeys and stuff and then it'll be my jam. I know for a Pure Data user it's gold. I myself worked with Max/MSP a lot before they went sub-based and really love that style of work. One of these days I'll get on Pure Data :)

    Hey my man, I tried to set this up but some stumbling blocks became apparent. I couldn't find some of the things in your Custom Action. The Script Outboarder and Action. I then decided to download yours but again same thing. Those weren't included in the Action when I put it into REAPER. Any Ideas? Thanks brother

      Hey dude! Do you have SWS extensions installed? You need it for these actions. Download it here. It's free and it's the bomb: www.sws-extension.org/
      You may have to reimport my action after that but should be good to go :)

      @@IDDQDSound Hey man I do have the installed already...got loads of functions set up with them already.

    I get an error all the time - it just deletes all the fx on selected tracks

    • @IDDQDSound
      @IDDQDSound  3 роки тому

      Hey dude! Thanks for letting me know! That is quite bizarre. No idea why that would happen cuz none of the actions do anything with FX. Do you have the outboarder script that is in my custom action? If you do, try creating the custom action yourself and see if that works?

    if you want changes in one MIDI item to affect other items you can use pooled MIDI items, Logic has this feature as well

    • @IDDQDSound
      @IDDQDSound  3 роки тому

      Yeah I initially showed that and edited it out for the next episode cuz the video was already too long! Also gonna show that placing soft synths without routing the audio to new tracks is theoretically possible, if only a little annoying and time consuming.

  • @ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP
    @ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP 3 роки тому

    maybe i'm not following but would it not be simpler to put all tracks in a folder while placing the MIDI item on the parent track?

    • @IDDQDSound
      @IDDQDSound  3 роки тому

      That doesn't work though does it? I showed in the video too! If I place the MIDI on the parent track it doesn't play them out of the children, unless I'm doing something wrong!
      Or do you mean putting the software Instruments on the parent and MIDI item on the child? My problem with that is then not getting control on each synth DSP-wise (unless you do a ton of inner track routing, and then sum them together at the end, which I do use for bass mixing and stuff but not for this application :)
