Qwerty Bastard Politics has become too polarised to do anyone any good. It isn’t a debate over how we can best help people any more, it’s a debate over how extremists can hurt each other.

I am waiting on my video to render, but I just finished putting together 8 minutes worth of me explaining why her death is good for America, and it boils down to one simple thing: "the Constitution is a living document." Not the "amendable" kind, but the "subject to loose interpretation" kind. All laws are strictly interpreted for a good reason, but Ginsberg's statement indicates that she thought the Constitution should be subject to a personal subjective interpretation. For laws, that basically means they don't exist, as they become mutable if such is convenient for the agenda. I'll have the video up soon enough, but that's the gist of it. She was basically a traitor against the highest law of the land which she swore to uphold. I do not deny the unfortunate human side of her death, but I celebrate the end of the roots of "the Constitution should mean whatever I can twist it to mean" in the body that is tasked with behaving precisely the opposite of that. Edit: it's up: ua-cam.com/video/vTmejS8mcog/v-deo.html

SFO. I'm glad you had a very balanced take of the situation. But if I may push back "Slightly" on your gay marriage thing as Gay person myself.
I fully support Civil Unions for gay people. I think Civil Unions should be how the government as a whole recognizes "marriage" And I think Marriage should only "exist" to the religious institutions
Basically Straight people and gay people would apply for civil unions, and marriage would be controlled by the Church, thus a very clear boundary of the separation of church and state.
But overall very balanced take my friend. And yeah, I feel the same way about Trump's 3 scoops of Scotus. The Dems changed the rules in 2013... and by golly it bit them in the ass. I only hope if Trump wins 2020 with a super majority in the house and Senate, that he forces them to change the rules back, and implement term limits.

There have been a few times in judicial history where the courts have basically heard a case out of sheer exasperation with the appeals. Abortion was another one, and Roe v. Wade amusingly enough could get a 9-0 decision on whether anyone actually, genuinely wanted to hear it. My understanding of how gay marriage got to SCOTUS was that the states were all bickering about it, acting like little kids, and so the courts treated it like a bunch of bickering little kids and made a hard ruling to clear the case pileup.
Doesn't make it right per se, but the people do need to share some blame for elevating the issue to that point, I'd honestly say the majority of the blame goes to the public.

It blatantly isn't if it is literally done to prevent a life and requires advanced modern medical procedure, just as healthcare cannot be described as being a human right because if you do not have modern medicine then you have no access to it. That's also flatly a state issue and her actions in completely violating the rights of the states is blatant and directly contradicted by the Constitution. The states have *exclusive* control over *health, welfare, and morals* according to the Constitution, all federal infringement upon this beyond enforcement of the Constitution is unconstitutional.
I agree with respecting the woman, but this argument is not one that is defensible in my opinion, even if you think it right it is blatantly against the Constitution and requires a Constitutional amendment. This was unarguably an activist judicial decision. The court is not supposed to write legislation, ever, and certainly not in areas specifically under the right of the states.

If a woman can't, or doesn't want to talk care of her own children, she can give them up for adoption. A human life should not be ended or prevented just because it was conceived in vile circumstances, such as rape or incest. In those cases, punish the guilty parent, not the child.
Abortion should not be allowed in order to prevent physical or mentally disabled offspring. If it's wrong to kill disabled adults, it's wrong to kill disabled babies.
The only time it is acceptable to pre maturity end an unborn life, is when the mother is more likely to die. And even then if there is a small possiblity that both survive, it should be the mother's choice to risk her life or not.

I can respect your opinion while not agreeing with it. I think you have good points. I will try and explain how I arrived at my pro choice view. I am pro- choice in the same way I am generally anti suicide but specifically pro euthanasia. Abortion and suicide both take life, and should only be done in extreme circumstances. Morally, I don't agree with the taking of life, but I think there are cases where I think it's overridden by specific circumstances. I think if we left the government decide too heavily what those are, it will lead to unnecessary suffering. I think we actually have very similar views except you think people will make generally bad decisions and the law should stop them. I don't disagree, yes most are bad at making decisions. But I would rather people be able to make decisions like this and be more free, rather than assume it will be end up in more net evil taking place. People who are truly immoral, or motivated enough, will always find a way regardless of the law, if abortion was illegal. People who are moral will always carry regret and suffering even if they thought having the abortion was right and it was legal.

@@jdsmedley Do I really need to spell this out for you? The moment a sperm penetrates the nucleus of the egg, you have a new human life with the same inalienable rights as any other. Saying this human life is less valuable than others is one of the scummiest things a person can say or delude themselves into thinking. It is the sworn duty of medical practitioners to do everything in their power to protect this life and not take any steps to snuff it out; in fact, the Hippocratic Oath for some seventeen centuries had an _explicit_ line against performing abortions as well as this being _implicit_ in the lines about doing no harm to the patient.
The absolute closest you can get to justifying this is during an ectopic pregnancy; this, specifically, is the one type of situation where the baby implants in the wrong place (wall of the fallopian tube instead of the wall of the uterus) and thus, if left there to grow will kill himself and his mother. Our lazy, abortion-loving society has taught doctors to completely give up on these babies and consider them a lost cause and make absolutely zero effort to see if they could be transplanted to the correct place.
Literally any other excuse for abortion? Evil and selfish. "The father was my brother" or "the father raped me" while tragic, are not at all the baby's fault and you should never kill a child for the sins of his father. "Having a child will hinder my lifestyle, but I made no effort to avoid getting pregnant" not only are contraceptives cheap, abstinence is even cheaper and a lot easier; and even if you somehow absolutely couldn't contain your lustfulness, you have multiple orifices that won't lead to pregnancy if penetrated and numerous objects intentionally manufactured to use as an artificial phallus to fill the one hole that will. And then of course there's the longstanding lie that nobody wants to adopt a girl or that nobody wants to adopt a disabled child; there are long waiting lists for foster parents who want to raise any child they'll be allowed to (and in our current modern day society, women are innately more valued than men and thus if anything people would prefer to adopt a daughter rather than a son).

When they can speak? If the status of any of these conditions makes killing OK then we may as well off anyone in a coma/on life support, but we don't, why? Is it because they have experience where the baby/cell cluster did not? I know everything isn't black and white, but this issue skates so close to the unknown mysteries of life that it's best we don't test it. If we convict people for murdering other intelligent beings then we should convict people for murdering beings who will imminently become intelligent. As for the margins, well, I'm certain we can invent legislation that allows the few women each year who legitimately need abortions to receive them under exception. How it is now is just a contradiction of justice and a slap in the face of logic.

The supreme court isn't serving your country it's a life long high paying job and let's not even get into how politicians aren't serving their country.
    Cops? Yes
    Firefighters? Yes
    Paramedic? Yes
    Military? Yes
    Judges? Fuck no.

Just figured out that the same person who kept saying fuck you to RBG for not retiring is the same Twitch girl who was angry people weren't donating enough to her stream. It all comes together.

Even if Roe vs Wade were overturned, it wouldn't outlaw abortion. It would merely allow each state to set its own policy. Some states like Utah or Mississippi might decide that they don't want the procedure performed in their state. Some states like Massachusetts or Oregon would likely continue to leave abortion legal within the state. America's government is set up on the principal of federalism and states are probably the appropriate domain for abortion to be debated within.

It's saddening that anyone died, ever, but now that it's done there's work to be doing
