good to see an actual project instead of a dog walking app - looking forward to more of these!
Been watching your videos lately, very informative. Love how you do projects and give us insights on what to look for in projects. You got a Sub, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! :)
I LOVED this video, and this series has been amazing! Watching you work motivates me to work even harder. After watching your previous video of this series, I pushed myself to deliver the most complex prototype I have ever done, and it was super fun. :) Thanks for the great content, and keep it up!
That’s so awesome!!! Congrats! 👏🥰 thank you so much for the kind words
Thank you Maddy, really enjoyed the walkthrough on your process of working on real client project. I also loved the fact that you showed your prototyping process and would love to see more on that as well. Cheers 🥂
So much useful information! Would love to see a video where you go through the audit process!
That was really insightful! Really cool to hear your thought process too, thank you!
This was so helpful and informative. Just found your channel and have been learning SO SO much!!
Thank you so much ❤❤❤
nice i love that design and prototype... Thanks for you sharing this.
I learned so much from this! your videos have so much value, thank you
I'm so glad!! Thank you :)
I really like this concept of your videos. It's something new and super on theme as to how to actually put our skills to use.
And yes, I also feel your "Bookmark" notion instead of calling it "Shortcuts" is the right way to go. Amazing UX move on your part.
Hope this project turns out fantastic and user friendly.
I would also suggest you make a case study out of this for your Behance perhaps.
See you on your next one😊✨
So glad you liked it!!
I love this video! Especially I learned how organized to use Figma component & variants. would love to see more videos about using this feature💓💓
Yay! I’m so glad you liked it ❤️
Absolutely invaluable information!
I despise how hush hush experienced designers are about their process. I understand there’s NDA but it feels like a lot of designers, especially seniors, are always pulling the ladder up behind those trying to break into the industry.
Thank you for doing what you do!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you appreciate this type of video :)
You're looking so fresh today. Right now it's morning in my area, " Good morning✨"
Loved watching and hearing you talk through your thoughts and process! I always enjoy these types of videos because it’s so cool to get a peek into another designer’s brain! I’m currently a design team of one at my company and am reallllly missing having a design thought partner so even though we’re not working together it still feels helpful to look at other projects and processes to continue learning from! Thank you for sharing, Maddy :) have a great day!!
Yesss I feel you!! That’s one of the reasons I make these kinds of videos :) having a design buddy is so important and I miss it too!!
@@MaddyBeard Have you found any good solutions for when you're feeling stuck and you need or want to chat through problems/ideas with another designer but… you’re a team of one? lol
I usually end up either talking out loud to myself/pretending to explain things to someone else (sometimes it helps me catch things I had missed before) or look for inspiration/competitors. (Also research if it's handy and relevant to the situation!). I guess it also depends on what kind of feedback you're looking for at that stage in a particular project because talking through visuals/branding is definitely something I want to lean on another designer for, but for functionality, flows, etc. I can at least check in with my PM/devs!
@@michellewren_ This is great hahah I do the same! I have a couple of design friends who I always send stuff too when I need some feedback. But I've recently been thinking of creating some sort of community or support group for fellow design teams of one. Do you think something like that would be helpful?? It could either facilitate real-time zoom calls where designers could kind of swap feedback, or there could be a more async version where designers share a Loom link and people can comment their thoughts! Lol I'm just brainstorming but lmk if this is something you'd find helpful!
@@MaddyBeard Ohhh nice!! It’s awesome that you have that support!
That could be helpful, yeah! My initial thoughts are:
1. Absolutely! That would be so cool and a great way to meet and interact with other designers and build a community/grow together.
2. It probably depends on the type of feedback someone would be looking for - some projects may be easier to explain than others. I know in my current role, my company has 3 platforms and while they are totally different, there is also some overlap but catching someone up to speed in order to ask for specific feedback could be a challenge. AND I definitely would want to respect people’s time and not bombard anyone with too much lol. So personally, it might just depend because I wouldn’t share big projects for feedback, but probably share smaller snippets. BUT I still think it would be awesome to take a peek at other designers’ work and help problem solve or just support others when needed!
If you did create a community, something that could also be cool is a place to share resources for further education. I want to continue learning new things and growing my skillset, but sometimes feel overwhelmed because I don’t quite know where to start, so recommendations could be cool! And to be able to talk about process or strategy if anyone is feeling stuck and has ideas of other processes or approaches to try, that could be super helpful too!
Very nice video. Is this possible to make a video about how to organize a figma file for handoff to the client??
Great suggestion!!
loved watching this work session. also, where'd you get your icons from?
Thank you!! They’re from iconoir.com :)
Thanks Maddy for this behind-the-curtain video! So much useful stuff! Amazing!
Q: How do you handle iterations of the screens or components? Do you duplicate the entire Figma-file or use the internal Version Control?
Thank you! :) Usually my projects have about 2-3 rounds of revisions, so if i think i will need to do significant changes I will duplicate the page within the same Figma file and make changes in the new page! Otherwise, if im just making small changes along the way, I will not do this and instead rely on the internal version control if something comes up where i need to go back to a previous version. I hope that helps!
This was super awesome, thanks for sharing. :D my vote is also for "bookmarks", everyone knows exactly what you mean lol
Haha thank you!! Good to know you’re with me 👍☺️
What if hovering over the shortcuts icon on left bar triggers a slide out of a condensed shortcuts list with just Favicon and name?
Ooo cool idea!! That’d definitely be interesting to try
can you pls tell me if i will sometimes have to design logos as well as a UI designer?
Usually no! UI and branding design are two separate disciplines.
Hey Maddy, how do you garner clients?
I get a lot of my clients through referrals and connections. And actually a fair amount from posting my work and process online like this! :)
Oh awesome!
Hello. Are you working only with Figma? Do you use some coding?
I know some very basic code but not much. And I work in no-code tools like Webflow from time to time!
@@MaddyBeard thank you for answering..I have learning codes but endless and more errors are there so I decided to continue with designing which is my style, I love this. Please could you give me some advice? Thank you in advance
