On a sidenote, the 2004 playoffs were the first ones I recorded all the way through--every series. And thanks to four memorable games in the ALCS, I've been doing so since, and have collected all playoff games dating back to the mid-70s.
That’s the amazing thing about these Cardinals. Honestly from 2000 through 2005 my Cardinals had average starting pitching, with a decent bullpen. But the offense and defense in those seasons were SUPERB!!!!! This team even with average starting pitching non those seasons should have won at least 3 WS titles maybe 4.
I got last-minute tickets to this game. My dad and I drove from Birmingham to STL the night before. It was the last game that I went to with my dad and uncle.
The 2004 Cardinals is likely the best Cardinals team in the past 20 years not to win the World Series. On paper, and statistically, everyone just killed it that year. Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, all had stellar years. We were an offensive and defensive powerhouse. Our weakness, was our rotation honestly. We had 4 15 game winners, supplemented by outrageous run production. All of our starters had an ERA over 3.5, which is not great. Carp was coming into his best year, but wasn't there yet. Now, put 2005 Chris Carpenter and 2013 Adam Wainwright on that same team....I say the Cards and Sox go 6, maybe 7 games.
I think that was the key difference in the 2004 WS - starting pitching. Williams, Suppan vs Schilling, Martinez, with the Boston bullpen of Timlin, Myers, Orroyo (if needed), Leskanic, Wakefield and closer Keith Foulke - was a tough ask to concede less runs than the Boston pitching staff. Their bullpen stood up well in the last four games of the ALCS.
No. It's a Cardinals playoff loss. I don't post Cardinals postseason losses. Plus, you demanded instead of asked - that in no way helps your cause. Please view the FAQ video linked to below: ua-cam.com/video/au4tSTy_VAU/v-deo.html&frags=pl%2Cwn
Cardinals Baseball Classics hi I like your channel, I’m a dodger fan but I’ve enjoyed the cards over the years as well. I always wanted to re watch the Lima shutout as I only saw it live and no ones ever posted it anywhere. I was wondering if you could upload it or if you don’t want it on this channel perhaps it’s possible for you to give it to me somehow
They were lucky the Astros choked they had Clemens Oswalt and Petite. This cards rotation was overrated lots of high 3 and low 4 ERA. Boston had Schilling Martinez and Lowe
I was 13 and this was the first playoff game I've ever seen the dodgers play. We were overmatched to say the least lol
So much nostalgia I miss these days
Pujols was such a beast. As a Yankees fan, he was my favorite non Yankee to watch 💯
Even the commercials were better back then

NFL-MLB Classics do you have the 1974 NLCS? And if so, are you able to upload it?
NFL-MLB Classics where are they then
That song intro that ESPN had for the entire division series line up that year was legendary
One of my all time favorite covers.
Jimmy had such a beautiful swing!
These commercials or the most early 2000s things ever haha!!!

Rick Ankiel was supposed to be the ace of the staff with being in Cy Young contention talk each season, but yeah.....

16 years later I still can't make out whether that Renteria hit around 1:19:00 was actually fair or not.
start at 0:05
Upload game three

If woody williams is your opening game 1 starter in the playoffs, you're not going to win the world series.
Lol

Skank Hunt42 Yup but the Cardinals did win 105 wins.
@@DrunkenSlob yeah but in 2004 a 4.00 ERA was better than average
@@blakepettys28 yeah I remember back in that time period because of steroids pitchers had higher ERA’s but the Astros still had the better rotation
Cards best starter Carpenter got hurt.
