I haven’t missed mass since I heard you say in one of your videos, that missing mass on purpose is a sin , I’m taking my faith more and more seriously since I started watching you father. Yes I would be willing to go to jail for my faith, if it came to that point.

The indifference ,disregard, and sometimes outright sacrilege of the Blessed Sacrament is down to 50 odd years of systematic removal of everything that pointed to the real presence from the reordering of sanctuaries to the institution of special ministers and all the jettisoned practices of Eucharistic piety.....and God help a young priest who tries to reinstall that! The howls of protest from the pews and furious letters fired off to the Bishop come down like a ton of bricks on them. But light is on the horizon because the few younger (under 40)people who actually have stayed in the Church and have the faith have no time for 1970s nonsense, and I see in them a strength of belief that could hold up to a year in prison if needs be

What we are faced with is a Muslim perspective on life; eliminative materialist; and trans humanism. If the Church is out to lunch and not opposing all of that we are in deep trouble. Even Atheists are worried; they are now referring to themselves as cultural Christians because even they are scared of what is coming if Christianity loses ground.

Thank you Fr. Brendan. I am appalled at the way people treat the Most Blessed Sacrament and I am saddened at the fact that most people at Mass troop up for Holy Communion but the Sacrament of Confession is practically redundant.

Thank you very much for the time and effort you put into your videos, I'm very impressed by your knowledge, a very well read man. I could listen to you all day long, God bless you and our church in Ireland. I have had the privilege of being raised in a good catholic family, I wasn't always a good mass attendee but the seed was sown. Now that has matured into attending Mass and watching daily mass and rosary. In one of your videos you mentioned religious education, I remember vividly my primary school RE, but my secondary education was very lacklustre. Parents saying the rosary or at least morning and night prayers, even simple ones builds a great foundation.
I will keep you in my prayers.

Father, I worked in a Catholic elementary school in the U.S. and the amount of kids having to use the restroom during mass was outrageous and alarming. We fixed that problem very quickly. We made sure kids had an opportunity to use the restroom about 15 minutes before mass. Those who chose not to use that opportunity to use the restroom were simply told, “No. Wait till Mass has ended.” Those who could not wait that long had to hold it until after the consecration. By the year’s end, out of 220 students we had on average about 2-3 kid, typically lower elementary, using the restroom during our weekly school Mass. We have to provide an opportunity to remedy the problem and then keep the children accountable.

We have a very good and clever priest here in England. When he came to this parish I told him he will do one of two things... restore the parish... or throw the keys of the churches in the land fill.
It's on track that the keys will end up in the land fill. He isn't a traditionalist but does say a Traditional mass on a regular basis. The real problem is the dumbed down laity, some of whom are academically well qualified, but their grasp of the faith has been severally weakened by the novus ordo mass. Novus ordo funeral masses are a complete joke compared to the solemn dignified Traditional Latin Mass. Without the banjos your average novus ordo mass type would be all at sea with the traditional faith. Mass for them is more of a social occasion than anything else.

I left Ireland in my teens but i do go back occasionally. I took a bus on an almost empty 3 hour bus juorney. It passed a prison picking up some of the inmates on day release. The bus driver told me that a load of prisoners were about to get on and for my safety I should sit on the seat behind him. I noticed when the prisoners got on some were wearing crucifixes and medals.
I thought it was this sort of attitude by the driver that I certainly didnt miss about Ireland given that my most loyal and humble freind in my host country spent 2 years in prison.

I was an agnostic at the time who was raised Catholic and I had to consider what do I actually believe in (the answer at the time was not much). I love it when the Priest holds the Host and Chalice up for me to say all the words I want to say...
We wait for the whole Mass up to this point to watch the ultimate miracle, then in some cases and many cases, the Host goes up and down and I feel so angry, that In the time you could sneeze, Transubstation has taken place, Christ's Precious Body has been up and down and I'm trying to say the prayers and speaking faster and faster, to myself. I'm left feeling empty, have no time to put any real meaning into the words, because it's done and dusted.
The the Chalice goes up and down even quicker...and at this point I want to cry, because why cannot the Lord Jesus have a few minutes...just a few minutes...( is it too much to ask) to adore Him in the Real Presence.
Not every priest does this, but to those who do, try to remember that at least a few people in the Church at that time want a minute or two to adore Him

    Thanks Father Brendan.
Many of our fellow Catholics and fellow Christians are in prison throughout the world, for their witness to their faith.
Would any Irish Catholic be prepared to suffer that? Or would we acquiesce and capitulate?
When I was younger we were only allowed speak in church in a barely audible whisper.
The Tabernacle is where God is. He is there! He is also in the red lamp lit in the church.
When we are inside the church we are in God's house. His house. And if I'm visiting His house I dress appropriately. I wear a shirt with a collar, full length trousers, shoes.
    God's house.
God fully present in each consecrated Eucharist.
I don't receive the Eucharist if I'm in a state of mortal sin. I would not defile God by receiving His body, blood, divinity.
Enoch Burke, though not Catholic, is 100% right to oppose the use of pronouns to describe a male as female or vice versa.

To be honest Father, the more there is rot, the stronger my faith grows. Why you may ask? Well, when you are taught for decades, that in the end of certain times, rotty things may happen and then you see them happen, you go, "oh, how interesting." When you see, in certain parts of the Bible, talk about a great apostasy and then you see everyone and his dog leaving the Church, you may get upset and angry but you have to admit, that it is expected. Be shocked, be sad but be not surprised.

The Culture and Society in Ireland has indeed changed from the times when the politicians consulted the Bishops on Social Policy. That unbelievable maddness and was very harmful for the poor and for women in Ireland..
The CC has lost its Authoritarian Theocratic power.
All the Priests seemed to comdem was sex. Even Masturbation was a sin !!!! They were obsessed with this. Their hypocriical condemnation led to guilt complexes and massive mental health issues for many people, particulary in Rural towns.
The attraction for paedophiles who had the abilty to study to become priests and then gain unlimited access to childten is now curtailed somewhat in Ireland these days. Thank God. A few short years ago who would believe that no child is allowed to be in the same room as a Priest unless accompanied by a an Adult guardian.
Some changes good. Bur aside from that , and without sounding too preachy people need Jesus today more than ever.

Whether you agree with the stance Mr Burke took, it's hard to not admire his adherence to his principles, and his willingness to peacefully accept the consequences of his decision. Because I doubt many of us would have the integrity to remain peaceful before such an insurmountable opponent. And you're right, I probably should be going to mass, but it's hard to understand how a man like Enoch Burke has more backbone than the Catholic Church when it comes to voicing opposition to the evil we all see in the world, maybe I'm just nieve expecting the church to be the shepherd leading the flock, at least as of yet our church hasn't gone down the route of allowing the flock to lead like I see a lot of other Christian churches doing.

In fairness Fr Brendan, Enoch Burke position is not that complicated. He has principles and is standing by them despite widespread ridicule. Sometimes courts deserve contempt and this is such a case. What is really despicable is the lack of support he gets from people in position and with a voice, to give that support.

Your talks are to be commended and you raise some profound issues. Unfortunately, Mr Burke is in jail, not because of his beliefs, which are commendable, but because he was in contempt of a court order. The court will have no option but to leave him in jail until he purges his contempt. They cannot afford to allow him to succeed as it would demean the courts. He should have stayed away from the school and used the internal union procedures open to him as a teacher to appeal the school decision to remove or suspend him. Very smart people think they are above such procedures and thus fail.
With respect to whether Ireland is a Christian country I have to say no it is not. It is clear from the data gleaned from the census of the population that we are circa 68% atheist. The downfall of the flock is due directly to the corruption of the church duly predicted in the not fully disclosed 3rd secret of fatima. The downfall of the Catholic Church is due to the failure of the Pope, cardinals and bishops in brushing serious demonic acts under the carpet. It is now getting worse with the recent Bishop Casey disclosures. The question I would ask the current church leaders is would Jesus do what they have done hitherto. The answer is absolutely not. The Bible has warned us sheep to "beware of wolves in sheep's clothing" and also to "beware of false profits". It would appear the stupid sheep have not heeded that advice and have literally, so to speak, "thrown the baby out with the bathwater" and now walk with the devil through the wide door to hell. The flock will pay dearly on judgement day for so doing. I would say that less than a half of 1% of the population would do what Enock Burke thinks he has done for the faith and rot in jail. In relation to your question would I go to jail for my faith. The answer is a profound yes.
In relation to those people that go to the loo during communion it does not surprise me at all. What is worse are those idiots that leave their phone on during mass. Such behaviour can behapps be address by Dietrich Bonhoeffer s, (theologian and philisophe), theory of stupidity, which, inter alia, puts forward that we have more to fear from stupid people than evil ones. Discussing with the current flock the rights and wrongs within our church is "like trying to play chess with a pigeon, that knocks the pieces over, craps on the board and flies back to its flock to claim vistory" (Bonhoeffer). 🙏

I hve have one question father for you. Why you would not agree with Mrs Burke . He spent one year in prison for staying faithful to faith and God, refusing to affirm someones lie . And that is what actually all of Catholic should be willing to do. It is clear.
He did it his own way , but whether you like it or not he stands up for what he believes.
But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars-their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Another wonderful talk and some very well thought out comments here.
I would like to address the subject of personal pronouns. The problem, as I see it, with asking people and especially teachers to use all these pronouns is that there are hundreds of them and new ones being invented every single day. The whole thing comes off as being very arbitrary.
It’s hard enough to remember everyone’s name, let alone the unique pronouns they’ve decided to use. For a teacher, it must be mind-boggling. And I’ve been giving thought to the idea that, rather than pure compliance, the other response that many of these people are really hoping for is actually dissent. Many are hunting for the confrontation they expect when someone fails to comply even accidentally to their demands. Similar to what someone here in your comments has remarked, stupid people can be every bit as dangerous as evil people.
If someone asks me for my pronouns, my reply is Thee, Thine, Thou and Child of God.

Father, if you want to see and experience how respect for the blessed sacrament is to be and should be observed you will only find that by attending the traditional latin mass, the 1962 missal. Im not saying all Novus Ordo attendees don't respect it but the consecration is highly watered down and dilutes the understanding of the real presence for those present and there is your problem. He is there at all times, not just when the tabernacle is opened. People should remember this when the second mass is over they all have great big chat and a laugh inside the church. I find that quite disrespectful to God and people trying to pray.
You of course don't have to believe me but attend just one TLM. Be it SSPX or Latin Mass Society of Ireland and read through the missal carefully and you'll understand what it is to practice the one true faith.
"Et introibo ad altare Dei. Ad Deum qui laetificate juventutem meum."
The beautiful opening lines of the mass.

@@bethmcmullan7686 No I never said that the root of all the problems is the NO. Fr laments the lack of respect shown to the blessed sacrament. That is what I'm referring to. The council had no right and actually no mandate to completely rewrite the mass. It was not the reason it was called. But the enemies of the church got their way.

The Church needs to jettison all of holy scripture like they never mention the lives of the saints. Then and only then will there be cognitive harmony and complex issues bother their consciences so much. Then Dionysus and the rest will attend our ceremonies. WE will conquer the world with our happy inclusiveness and equitability. All will be the same.
That reminds me. Have anybody ever looked into our Pope's views on Judas. They are revealing. The muslims actually believe it was Judas who died on the cross not Christ. We live in a time of apocalypse. Mr Burke (& his family) may have chosen the better part.
In scripture it is written "when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” Like 18:8. Read the whole passage. Mr Burke is mentioned in it.

@@bridfinn4933 Please dont worry. We often perceive things not as they are but because of what we are. Yes universalism is strictly unbiblical. You re right. Yet some Church leaders often imply for eg. by saying hell is empty that they in principle see no ultimate difference btw pagan people and believers. This is "unfortunately" common. That word in quotes also acts a kind of reductio ad absurdum given the profound issue of salvation. But things are unveiling. The opposition to Christ is becoming brazen. Our priests are well read, highly trained but also irrelevant to many people who need them because they will not speak the truth boldly. Todays reading from the OT and the gospels tell us what it means to speak boldly. Pray for them as I do.
