It’s amazing what paint and changing out some electrical fixtures can do for a home. It all looks so fresh and crisp now. Can’t wait to see the finished project! It will all b worth it at the end, hang in there...
Hey Marnie!! This was so much fun, I know you are loving it~it all looks amazing, so fresh!! ❤️✨ Lisa
Not as fun as building a whole new house!
So many memories of homes gone by, and the various levels of upgrading that we did. From customizing a spec house (our first home, in 1985), to dragging a MCM ranch toward the 21st century without compromising the mid-century esthetics. And at the turn of the century, upgrading/updating a 1994 home, which was nearly the death of me! Enjoy the fruits of your labor (or, of the hired workers)!
Marnie how exciting!! I love your decorating ideas!! I cant wait to see when all is done!! Thank you for sharing!!
Beautiful! Yes, definitely need a larger light fixture over your kitchen table. You could go larger on all the light fixtures throughout because the rooms are so large. Go wider and more grand. Such a lovely home!!
I loved this video!!!! I am excited to see all the stages as you go. Isn't it amazing the drastic change just some new paint can do. Some how it makes the whole house fresh and crisp again. We just did a room in our house last month. I always felt drained being in that particular room. We had painted it a color 5 years ago and once it dried it wasn't what I thought it would be. We shifted gears with color when we painted the room last month and now the whole room makes you feel happy bright and cheerful! We were amazing at what color can do to your mood! Also loving your lighting choices and hardware! You are giving me ideas....... :)
Hi Marnie! Wow, that’s quite the project! We just got some wallpaper taken off and two rooms painted and that was a lot for us. Your house looks beautiful. It looked beautiful before the remodel. 😀. It’s always nice to refresh. Much easier than moving! Take care. 🤗
Agree, a larger chandelier above the dining room table.
So fun to see the changes! It looks great! Thanks for sharing!
How exciting and nerve wrecking all at the same time!!!! It looks amazing so far!!!! They did a great job! Can’t wait to see what y’all do next.
This video was so fun!! Thank you for sharing your home refresh! Can’t wait for the next episode!
Very exciting. Can't wait to see the finished product. .......
Its very beautiful Marnie. Love your ideas for your home. It will all be so beautiful when it’s complete.♥️
I loved seeing this!!! You have a beautiful home! I’m looking forward to seeing the progression!
Looks so good! I think I would carry the paint color to the front of the house
This is so exciting! Way better than moving to a new house!
Love the changes and the colors you chose! This is only the first in the series and I’m so excited to see more! Also, I adore your game room- it’s so huge and private (being upstairs) I’d be up there every evening cozying up my hubby just relaxing, tv, reading, etc. ( now it can be converted to more of a den vs. a game room since you’re empty nesters) Just a thought 😊 xo
It looks fabulous so far. I do love renovating. Just the paint has made a great difference to freshing up your home.
It is going to look fabulous when you are done! So happy for y’all!
Love videos like this .... please film everything and make long videos..... 🙏🏻 can’t wait to see the results .
i love what you're doing Marnie. I think new window treatments in the kitchen and family room would be awesome. coordinate them... actually the dining room too. make them the same or similar. i'd definitely do custom. phase 2 = new furniture would be awesome. less stuff on the walls..love what you chose for paint.. gorgeous!!
Looks great! Trust your instincts on the kitchen chandelier, just a bit more volume in a fixture can really make a difference. Maybe something that coordinates with the new pendants but is not super matchy?? Very excited to see the dining room when it is done! Love your color choices throughout I am on the struggle bus making color decisions .
You don't give yourself enough credit , when it comes to decorating. I hope you have a great day!
Looks so fresh, love your new colors. Great job. Only suggestion you might think of updating your kitchen chandelier.
I can understand the stress, I’m slightly OCD , I just like things a certain way , it’s all looking great! I’d love to see more of decorating & anything home related on your channel :) ❤️👏🏻
I love the sconces on the side of the bed! Changing out light fixtures and paint make such a difference. What about moving the new dining light into the kitchen dinette? And ordering something a little bigger in the dining room? Love all the updates you’re making.
Painting the doors white made a huge difference!!!! Thanks for sharing. I am really enjoying the diverse subject matter. Covid has made makeup purchasing difficult and not a priority.
Love these types of videos! Thank you for sharing - lovely home! ❤️
Those paint squares are so clever, love that idea
Everything is looking so good, Marnie! I love the bathroom cabinets white and your wall color is beautiful. So elegant and I love how it changes depending on the lighting. The bedroom looks so pretty, love your bed! Can’t wait to see everything finished!
Hi! We just decided to stay in our home rather than move and have been doing a multi staged mini refresh too! I totally get not wanting to hang anything back on the walls after painting. I just hat to put a bunch of hole in those pretty walls. Also looking for a big wall mirror but no hurry! Isn’t it amazing what a little paint can do?! TFS
Can't wait for more. It's looking fab.
Wow! I just finished up a total master bath remodel and I thought that was an accomplishment Marnie. God love you for taking on the whole downstairs project at the same time!! It is going to look so beautiful and refreshed when you get it completed. Keep 'em coming!
YES! It makes me so happy to get some Goldberg Household Scoop again! I love that we are invited to follow along your reno! Thank You! Looks great already, especially with the views into the backyard 🤩
Ps: your skin looks healthy and is glowing! You look fantastically!
Those paint swatches are brilliant! Love your choices so fair and love this video, thanks for sharing!
I totally agree about the "disruption"! I get Massive Anxiety with projects & especially, with people in my space. We had our kitchen & dining room "done" last winter (before co-vid, Thankfully). There was a Soffit above my peninsula that at one time had cabinets underneath. When we bought the house, it just jutted out in the middle of the room & was an eyesore. One day I got a wild hair up my tush & decided to "see what was inside". I ended up ripping the whole thing out & had a huge hole in my ceiling. Needless to say, It definitely moved the project up on my husbands priority list!!!! We had a guy come in & patch the hole, remove the popcorn ceilings- YES! Popcorn Ceiling in a Kitchen - IDIOTS!! The ceiling in my kitchen & dining room (connected) were hand textured & repainted & the walls ( Worldly Gray) & trim all fresh & new. It looks AMAZING! One day I will get the cabinets & countertops replaced- but, for now this little facelift made me happy & I can live with the rest for awhile longer. BTW, The countertops were coated with that Rustoleum epoxy treatment & the Cabinets were also faux painted to look like hickory by the previous owner to put the house on the market. - "She Slapped Lipstick on the Pig"! LOL The Pig Will need a makeover! Congrats on your Updates!!
Love your choice of colors and what a difference with the bedroom lighting! Looking forward to seeing it finished. You may feel like it's a new home. 😊
I LOVE home improvement videos. So excited for this! A tip for the samplize swatches, stick them onto white cardboard and move that around the room as the light changes through the day. The white background will give a better idea of what the color will truly look like once it's all over your wall.
Great idea!!
I really enjoyed this video, Marnie! Very exciting for you. I discovered Samplize this summer, and, ordered a bunch of samples for our shore house. This is a brilliant company! I just rolled some stencil tape on the backs, so that I could move them around to different locations. I never peeled the backing off.
Love to redo, refresh my house!!! Everyone needs to shake things up!! It makes you feel good to have a nice home to enjoy during these times.
Thank you for the tour Marnie and for sharing your home with us. I loved this video and can’t wait for the next stage. Whenever I’ve watched your videos I really loved seeing your family picture over the bench and thought that it was in such a perfect spot so I can’t wait to see where it finally ends up in its new location.
i like the colors you picked. I think a bigger light over the kitchen table would look great.
Great video, enjoyed seeing it happen. Refresh is a lot of work. We have also done the same plus 2 new bathroom remodels. Nice when workers are gone for sure.
Hi Marnie, Your house refresh looks beautiful! I love the color paint you chose for your cabinets and walls. Your new chandeliers in both the kitchen and dining room look beautiful. We painted our kitchen cabinets white and had to add some cabinets because I merged my kitchen with my mom's (she passed away and we live in the family home now). We got quartz by Cambria and the one we purchased is called Berwyn, but there is another one that is a little darker called New Quay. Check it out and see what you think. I had granite in my other home and I loved it, but the quartz is so easy and maintenance free (no sealing). I love the Berwyn because it also has tiny little silver sparkles in it and when the lights are on it really looks so pretty. We have a carrara marble beveled subway backsplash in our kitchen. I know whatever you pick will be beautiful and it will be fun to see the final result. I know the process is tiring, but when it's done you will really enjoy your home. Hang in there! xoxo, Karen
I love your suggestions Karen!
This was so fun to see, thank you for bringing us along on your journey!
Looks pretty! I feel your pain about having things in a mess and people in your house.
You are making your home even more beautiful. Thank you for sharing the journey and inspiration.
Omg this was so much fun!
Thank you for sharing your home, it’s beautiful.🌸
Beautiful colors for your paint and I think your home will be beautiful when everything is done Marnie!
Lovin how real this is!
Looking forward to seeing the finished look, well done.
I had my kitchen cabinets painted snowbound last year and have had accessible beige in my last two master bedrooms. But I still love the beige
It was great doing your home updates for yall Mrs . Goldberg, me and frank enjoyed visting with you and your husband, hope everything was to yalls liking ♡
We loved everything!! Thank you again for a wonderful job!
Thank you for sharing...I love all things home related too! I think it's such a GREAT use of space to turn the two rooms into one large dining room. Smart!! Your home is beautiful!
Love love love it. Nothing like a refresh update.
Looks beautiful!
Isn't it fun planning and executing a home refresh and redecorating project? I agree it's not always fun going through the actual process, but I love planning and the finished project. It always feels so fresh, new and alive when we make even a few updates here and there. I'm just thankful I have some wonderful and helpful interior designer friends when I get stuck. Enjoy your new updates!
Love the updates! Love the paint color and the results. I have always thought your home is beautiful - light and bright and very warm and welcoming. I don't like the process as well. 2015 we finally made the decision to stay in our home. We gutted and remodeled inside and out and put in a pool AND we stayed in the home while it happened... NEVER AGAIN! haha! We had pendant lights, ultimately I removed them... talk about banging your head! Just make sure the height is right..too high and they are blinding when working too low and well.. you get the point. So nice to see you this morning! Be well! Hugs!
So fun to do a refresh MG! I get a little stressed during remodeling too. Everything looks so nice and fresh.
Love Everything you did.
How exciting to get a refresh without all the hassle and filth of a full on renovation! But even this disruption is understandably uncomfortable and unnerving! But so worth doing these little tweaks that result in such a big change... but I am one to notice and appreciate all the details! I hope you do another quick tour after you get everything back in place, sorted and styled how you want it until phase 2! Congratulations on your beautiful, new environment! 😍
Crown molding in you kitchen/family room would look fantastic. Big bang for your buck at resell!
Really want to add that at some point!
Marnie - I totally agree about the edgy feeling when big changes are happening in my house. Love your bathroom lights and pulls. Book shelves look like they belong in the game room. Kitchen is going to look so fresh, bright and beautiful. Also love the arches in your house.
Yay! Thank you!
Marnie, you have a beautiful home. I really like all your paint and fixture choices. Everything looks so fresh and it is inspiring me to get the painters here and re-do my trim, etc. I think most people get anxious with renovations (I know I do). Enjoy your weekend!
Love renovations!! Kitchen looks great! Can’t wait to see the new dining room!
Loved your home before but oh my! I love it even more. Great choices on everything
Love the paint choices, I have Sherwin Williams Alpaca shade its that color where people say " Is that grey" lol and I love it , were getting ready to paint our cabinets also , need to check out if we got oil based or not, great info Marnie.
its looking good, bright and refreshed...enjoy the new look at each stage :)
I am so excited! Thank you for sharing. I love that you are working with what you have vs chucking it all and starting over. It's gonna look wonderful. Living through a remodel is tough, so best of luck.
Hi Marnie, your refresh is looking very nice so far. We built our house four years ago and used Agreeable Gray throughout except bedrooms, baths, laundry and I’m still happy with my choices. Paint choices were by far my hardest decision compared to everything else. Looking forward to phase two.
It's looking great! And your kitchen looks so much bigger!
Thank you!! 😊
Fantastic! Really fun to watch.
Thanks for sharing. I ❤️ to see these types of videos. I agree that you should change out your kitchen light...maybe another wrought iron piece to match dining room. Can’t wait to see part 2🤓
Yeah...the more I look at it the more I don’t like it.
I LOVED IT!!! Thank you for sharing. We are in a similar process right now. Been in our home 14 years. Talked about moving, but then our kids are still in school...so we decided to update. It is a process for sure!
Love everything but definitely a bigger light fixture over kitchen table. I own an interior design business for the budget conscious.
Thanks for the professional advice! It needs to go!
I love that you’re repurposing pieces of furniture vs. getting rid of them. Love your taste. Look forward to more of these videos.
Hi Marnie , my husband has been fitting laminate flooring in our home this week ( kitchen through to the hallway) we found a damp patch so had to treat that and wait a few days before we could carry on 🙄 living with much mess !!
He’s a builder and his favourite saying is “ you can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs “ his way of saying it gets worse before it gets better !!!😂😂 . The mess will get tidied up and we’ll be all pretty for Christmas that’s what is keeping me going ! Your home is lovely. Can’t wait to see the end result. Love from an avid watcher and friend in the UK Lisa xx
You’re so lucky to have a builder in the family!
Your home is so beautiful to begin with, any improvements will be fantastic! I remember your vlogs when you and Michael were going through model homes years ago. Glad you are staying! Excited for this new series, Marnie!
Thank you so much!
Everything looks pretty Marnie👏👏😊
Looks great! Love the color. I can't believe the difference in the bathroom cabinets, beautiful 💕
I love this type of vlog. I can definitely relate to the stress and discomfort you are going through. Six years ago, we re-did our kitchen and three bathrooms. Like you, I did not enjoy the disruption, anxiety, and the fact that strange people were in my house all day. It is not a fun process, but so worth it when you are done. Choosing paint colors is difficult. It took me a year to decide what color to paint the walls bordering the staircase and another year to select the dining room paint! Anyway, what you have done looks lovely. You probably find yourself purposely entering these rooms, just so you can see how pretty they look over and over again! Love the light fixtures you chose. You mentioned you were't sure if you like the kitchen light. I think it would be a good idea to update that, too!
Your house is so beautiful, even with all the rearranging. Your bathroom looks nice and bright and updated. Looking forward to stage 2! I get the same way, stress and anxiety whenever something needs to be done in the house, but try and enjoy the process because the end result I'm sure will look beautiful!
Nice! Just a suggestion on your stairway, you could do a dark gel stain to give it an update. It's very easy to do. I stained my bathroom cabinets.
Congratulations on your remodeling projects.....everything looks beautiful!
I'm like you in that I hate the process and get a little bent out of shape and anxious until the job is done. We had decided to paint the whole house a few years ago and it was exhausting and a lot of work to clean up afterwards. Everything is looking fabulous and you'll be happy with the changes, so hang in there.
Marnie, It's coming along beautifully! I feel you as home projects make me uptight. Timely video for me as we are painting and changing out old recessed lighting. My husband wants to do it himself with my help, ugh. I really wish he'd consider hiring a professional for many reasons. Oh well, I'm going to be exhausted and crabby. Thanks for sharing so much and providing the links. The paint stickers are the best idea! Stay well and try to rest in between your projects. I look forward to seeing the progress in your beautiful home. Lots of Love!
Wow! It looks great! It’s so neat to see it all come together. I am so glad you decided to v log this-because although the process isnt pretty, it is necessary to get to the beautiful result.
I love sampleize squares! They saved my life when we redid our paint last year! I went with a gray color scheme as well. Yes, the process is awful! Painters were in my house for three weeks! I went nuts!
I recently gutted my kitchen & a bathroom, I was so stressed to have my house in such chaos! The dust was overwhelming but the end result is amazing! I feel you Marnie!
I love everything! The peel and stick paint samples, Genius! We are doing some home improvements ourselves! We just ordered new floors. I want to paint the interior but I’m having a hard time deciding on a color. I’m excited to follow along your journey for inspiration, thank you!
I looked up this video today just so that I could find the paint sample sticky company. Thx for posting that! I'm guessing I can move the stickers from one wall to another to check in different light?
That’s the whole point of them!
Looking really great. You’ll eventually see it was all worth while! Love the colors. We used that same egret white too, and also had the same issue of banging my head on the dining room light fixture. Drove me crazy!!
I certainly understand the frustration of having things done. We had a tornado knock down a huge tree that took down two other large trees. They all went into my dining room. That was on Easter night. So it’s been six months and the repairs are still not finished. I can’t tell you had frustrating it’s been. My house has been in disarray all this time. Everything looks good I know you are going to love it.
Wow what a lovely home you have i think the white makes it so bright and bigger you have made some very good choices it really is a big house so much space .Love it x
I just switched out all my ceiling fans and added pot lights everywhere. Let there be light! Next is to paint and I was going to do Agreeable Gray, happy to see you used it, it looks great in your bedroom!!
Love the refresh! You’ve done an amazing job so far and can’t wait to see more!! We just moved and are just starting to do a little personalized touches but it is for sure a stressful experience even though it’s so worth it!
Just binged your last three vlogs. Love them, sure do miss them!! I too have to do a refresh of our main floor since both kids are pretty much moved out. One university student left. Like you I absolutely hate the process but I know I will love it when it’s done. it’s obvious that you and Michael are both working so hard on this it’s all the little details of removing the handles, taking down the artwork etc. that can really bog you down. Well done.
How exciting!! We are getting ready for a kitchen reno (had a small flood in May) and while I’m excited, I’m nervous because of covid. I guess life goes on, but it’s unnerving having people in your home with all this. We both work outside the home (husband is a first responder) so I should I used to it, but still weirds me out. We used accessible beige in our master bath and bedroom last year when we did a bathroom reno and we both love it! Good luck with everything!
Love it! Your home is beautiful and I love the changes. Thanks for sharing the process ❤️
It's looking great! I understand your discomfort during the process though..I'd be the same way, but when it's done it will be amazing! XO
